Video: Mary Katharine Ham interviews Michael Steele

A new HamNation, which is really just a side project between her nightly TV appearances at this point.

There’s a little more information out on that Survey USA poll we posted about earlier:

In the race for Senate, the new survey shows Republican Michael Steele and Democrat Ben Cardin are tied with 47% of the vote. Unlike other pollsters, SurveyUSA has consistently showed the race tied. One explanation: SurveyUSA’s turnout model is 26% black. Of black likely voters, 33% vote for the Republican Steele, who is black. If less than one-third of blacks vote Republican, the Democrat Cardin wins. Other polling firms show both a lower black turnout and less support among blacks for Steele.

Steele and Ford, Jr. should switch districts. Both Steele interviews today were really well done. This guy is as likeable as they come.

Come on! Ask at least one token tough question.

I like Steele; he has run a great campaign and has a bright future. 23 years in Maryland tells me that he will lose though.

Any other state, any other year and he would be golden.

Beatdown with a side of whoop-ass!

I like Steele more everytime I hear him speak.

infidel4life on November 3, 2006 at 6:20 PM

Great interview, MKH!! As I posted earlier, Steele is a standup guy who happens to be showing all minorities that you can make it in this country with hard work and determination (as opposed to just relying on the government) – and he’s not part of the liberal machine.

Uhhh, isn’t it racist to have a young, attractive, white woman interview a black man?

Especially a southern white woman?

Come on people! Haven’t we learned anything from the jungle drums fiasco!?!?

EFG on November 3, 2006 at 6:22 PM

Intelligent, gutsy and charming interviewer – this man will win and this, along with Ned Lamont and Phil Angelides losing, will be my individual highlights of Nov. 7th, 2006.

Entelechy on November 3, 2006 at 6:22 PM

Opps! I meant the playboy ad.

I know you’re kidding, but you really are not. As a southern white female, I get a lot of lot of the “how dare you” lines. But please, I’m an American with an ax to grind with racists like anyone else. (Slublog, sugar…not for you to click :) )

Yes, it is racist. (Or raaaaaacist.) That’s the whole point. Any time a black man and a white woman are shown together on TV, it causes people to vote Republican.

Monday, 8 p.m.: “This Fox News feature presentation of Mandingo: The Director’s Cut is brought to you by the Republican National Committee ….”

I liked Steele’s “churches, synagogues” line. Sends the right message to the Sharpton/Ellison fraction within the Dimocrats.

I remember when my Southern Baptist (Dixiecrat) Grandfather threw his shoe at the television because Sammy Davis Jr. dared to kiss a white woman on the cheek.

I think we have come a long way. If he were alive, I ’spec he’d pitch the whole damn tube out the window when Britney kissed that Madonna whore.

Something I brought up at MKH’s blog about this interview is that I enjoyed it more than MM’s interview of Steele that was done (apparently) right around the same time.

The reason I enjoyed it more is that while MM’s was a good interview, it was routine. I could have seen the same interview of Steele done by Hannity, Rush, Boortz or whoever and it would have been roughly the same. MKH brings something to her interview with Steele that caused him to loosen up and be himself. He dropped the “politician” and we got to see the man. That was rather cool and turned out well since Steele seems to be a good man.

Let me be clear that I’m not knocking MM’s interview at all because we need those interviews just as much. It’s just that MKH could really create a niche for herself if she can make people loosen up like that on a consistent basis.

And don’t that just steam your puddin’, Teddy?

But not half as much as waking up next Wednesday morning to the biggest uprising since Harper’s Ferry.

The voices of Conservative minorites in this election cycle (like Michael Steele in Maryland)need to be supported…

…Find them. Court them. They are your neighbors and your friends. Not because of how they can help us secure an election, but because of how they can help themselves secure the blessings of liberty in the America we were all promised.

seejanemom, you ‘crazy’ white Southern woman, you did a fine job with both posts. Regards,

Entelechy on November 3, 2006 at 7:51 PM

Why thank y’all….come on back now, ya hear….:)

seejanemom on November 3, 2006 at 8:55 PM

That was so much better than Michelle Malkin’s interview.

Christoph on November 3, 2006 at 9:05 PM

Great idea Allahpundit…You’ve got a conservative politcal site open 10 minutes and you’re already censoring posts.

And this by a closet liberal with 1 foot in the grave who can’t seem to get in touch with his more sensitive side.

I think Kerry’s “joke” was funnier.

What are you talking about? Am I missing a joke?

Allahpundit on November 3, 2006 at 11:13 PM

Watching MKH interview, made me like this guy, not just for that he is a Republican, he seems to be a sincere nice guy , even if I didn’t agree with all he was for, I feel he be working honestly in my behalf or doing the right thing. The same as with Joe Lieberman the now Independant. Thats why the Black Democrat, churches and all endorsed him

One slight thing that kind of bothering me, it is mostly not Steele’s fault but his enemy’s fault, the highlighting of the Black Candidate, Black Republican. Wouldn’t it be nice if we lived in a society where we could not judge the man by the color of his skin, but by his character? I bet he is tired of being the “Black” Candidate and in his heart seem to want to represent all the people.

Left_behind: Sometimes the comments thing eats… comments. I have lost one or two.

If you want to see some real censorship go to willyoujoinus.com (chevron’s ‘chat’ site.) Say anything negative about the environmental lobby and you didn’t ‘meet the community guidelines’. If that’s the future of the internet, I’m just going to stand in front of the mirror and talk to myself.

Not that I don’t already…

Steele’s Got my vote.

RiverCocytus on November 3, 2006 at 11:32 PM

If only we could clone Steele for all fifty states.

Emmett J. on November 4, 2006 at 10:43 AM

Steele is my hero! Marylanders, vote for him for Senate, then Americans vote him in for president. This guy is the real steele-deal! I wish he were campaigning for Governor in the Great State of Texas! He would win in a landslide. What, he’s black? I never noticed! And that is the way it should be!
