Air America hires jackass involved in George Allen scuffle

Naturally. The fightin’ nutroots wearies of the media being so nice all the time, so they’re bringing in a guy who’s not only willing to speak slander to power, but willing to shove people out of the way to do so. He’s the perfect embodiment of their ethos.

Aside from Keith Olbermann, of course.

Mike Stark on his new job:

“This job is totally secondary to law school,” said Stark. “But the main reason they’re hiring me is because of the void in the media of asking difficult questions of powerful people.”

Difficult questions like, “Why did you spit on your first wife?”

As for the Young Turks, here’s a clip from a recent show. Their engineer’s name is Jesus. Get it? Get it?

Update: Speaking of Olby, the boys at Olbermann Watch have put together a hysterical video of King Douche getting a surprise answer from one of his guests. Stick to the script, Ricks!

do they have the money to be doing stuff like that?

jummy on November 3, 2006 at 10:43 AM

This is no surprise.. is it?

Viper1 on November 3, 2006 at 10:46 AM

Mike used to call the Andrew Wilkow show back when Wilkow was on WGY in Albany. They called him ‘Commie Mike.’ This guy was a douchebag back then. He would ask stupid questions like, ‘If a building were on fire which would you save; three babies or three fetuses?’

He has a website called callingallwingnuts.com or some such.

JasonG on November 3, 2006 at 10:46 AM

What are they going to pay him in, feelings?

That is rich! LOL!

Get this boy a brown shirt and armband.

Hening on November 3, 2006 at 10:52 AM

Well they’re certainly not paying him in advertising dollars from the corporate elite – see Media Matters.

What are they going to pay him in, feelings?

Pablo on November 3, 2006 at 10:49 AM

Yes, I wondered the same thing when I read that story this morning in the paper.

Does Air America have a Charlottesville, Va. bureau? Inquiring minds want to know………….

BacaDog on November 3, 2006 at 10:54 AM

Pablo: Not feelings – Other people’s money. Probably from some orphans or disabled vets.

Hey, it worked before!

GregH on November 3, 2006 at 10:53 AM

And why wouldn’t any of those companies have a perfect right to spend their advertising dollars where they want?

You libs still don’t get it….

Advertisers want to 1)spend their money to reach the largest possible market, and AA had a small audience, and 2) advertisers do not want their name associated with programming that might tarnish their brand. AA was nothing more than a hate-fest.

Free enterprise GregH. Ain’t it great?

BacaDog on November 3, 2006 at 10:59 AM

Just because he has a press pass doesn’t mean any canidate or holder of public office has to let him near them. Especially, with his history of assaultive behavior and his on record statements that his purpose is to disrupt.

EF on November 3, 2006 at 10:59 AM

there are a lot of “difficult questions” that he could ask:

“Barney, you really had no idea a brothel was being run from your home?”

“Bill, why didn’t you get Osama?”

“Ted, why didn’t you help Mary Jo?”

“John, where are those military records you said you would release?”

bloggless on November 3, 2006 at 11:00 AM

He’s faked credentials before, apparently. At a Hannity concert.

Pushy Stark will probably just roll some folk on the streets for a little cash, watch the muggings start to go up.

Why is that a scandal, exactly? If I’m remembering correctly Procter & Gamble doesn’t advertise during Rush Limbaugh. Does that make them part of the corporate elite?

At a Hannity concert.

Hannity sings? :-)

Beautiful, gotta send this to Sean.

As far as the YoungTurks vid……since they want to fantasize so much……

Annan, Assad, Lil-Kim, Ahmenadinijad, Chavez, Billery and these clowns sitting around the table discussing world peace solutions…..yeah….thats who I would want around the table DECIDING THE FATE OF WORLD PEACE.

This vid needs to be spammed to every household and ipod in the country.

Limerick on November 3, 2006 at 11:10 AM

Why is that a scandal, exactly?

No implication intended of a scandal. Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.

GregH on November 3, 2006 at 11:10 AM

A more accurate observation, GregH, is that advertisors of reputable companies steer their advertising dollars away from networks that emply people like Randi Rhoades who threaten the President on air.

Why?

Well, because it’s disgusting, and it’s also bad for business with patriotic (or merely decent) Americans. Or simply Republicans.

Bank of America, et al., do business in the red states you must concede.

Limerick on November 3, 2006 at 11:16 AM

GregH and I are really TO’d that the corporate elite have not been forced to spend their advertising budget buying ads on a program that nobody listens to. Furthermore, we demand that they also buy time on KPLK the 24 hr polka station in Duluth. There also a rat hole in GregH’s mom’s basement we’d like them to throw some money down.

“The Fredo of the family is the president of the United States, so why doesn’t his father or his brother … take him out for a little fishing, and let him say some Hail Marys – he loves God so much. … You know, Hail Mary, full of grace, God is with thee – pow [gunshot sound] – works for me.”

“A spoiled child is telling us our Social Security isn’t safe anymore, so he is going to fix it for us. Well, here’s your answer, you ungrateful whelp: [audio sound of four gunshots being fired.] Just try it, you little bastard. [audio of gun being cocked].”

Yeah, that Randi Rhodes.

Always questioning the status quo.

…this presents me with a dilemma…this is a straight line almost impossible to resist…but, given that I am a guest in someone else’s virtual “home”, and because I am trying to clean up my language and steer away from allusions to less than elevating things, I shall rally the fortitude not to rise to the bait.

…Moms are off limits, as is the rule among all civilized societies in all civil discourse.

They have to pay Franken first. Air America’s only chance for survival is if this country turns socialist on Nov. 7th – SO GET OUT AND VOTE!!!

This is America moron…advertisers can choose where to put their ads. Geeeez…if I’m gonna advertise my product or services, I will likely put it where they will be heard…defintely not in the vacuum that is Air America. You would force these sponsers to place ads on Air America??? You get more whacked with each post you make.

Hey GregH, stop picking on the corporate world. After all, the success stories of the corporate world are a spitting image of the folks John Fn Kerry encouraged his liberal college cult following to emulate. (FLIP) That is, if you’re not Microsoft or Walmart, in which case Kerry and friends will make sure the justice department investigates you with false charges long enough to portray corporate America as evil money grubbers out to take away the homes of the middle class. (FLOP)

(calmer now)

…to review:

a rat hole in GregH’s mom’s basement

…if you’ll notice, the remark zeroed on his mother’s *basement*. The good woman was not herself mentioned except to say that, of all basements in the world, it was his this particular basement, in the care of our friend GregH’s maternal parent, which might be a place to secret a cache of cash, so to speak.

…so, if she can be considered as having been mentioned at all, GregH’s mother was only mentioned tangentially…and residentially….

Puritan1648 on November 3, 2006 at 1:43 PM

Christoph on November 3, 2006 at 11:15 AM

Exactly. This is Econ 101 stuff, at least for people who believe in capitalism and a free market. A company has a finite amount of money to spend on advertising. Common sense dictates that they spend it in the way that they think will be most effective to promote their business. The key words being “the way that they think”–it’s not “the way that GregH thinks” or “the way that the Democratic party thinks”. It’s their company’s money, they can spend it anywhere they choose to. And if Air America produced a product that anyone wanted (ooh, there’s that pesky capitalism again), people would buy it. Funny how there are ads for CNN, the Dixie Chicks, and other liberal causes on Hot Air’s website–apparent those advertisers feel that if you want to sell something, you have to go where the customers are. Personally I think it’s stupid marketing on their part, because if we were ignorant enough to believe their leftist drivel, we’d already be liberals. But hey, I’m happy to see them spend their money here.

Does the fact that liberals get so snippy about nobody wanting to advertise on their dead airspace (okay, let’s be fair, dead airspace would be more intelligent) mean that we can expect an addition to the “Fairness” Doctrine if they ever get back into power? I’m sure they’d salivate at the thought of not only being able to inflict programming that nobody wants to listen to onto the public, but also being able to force advertisers to pay for it.

ReubenJCogburn on November 3, 2006 at 2:12 PM

Just for the record, I have nothing but warm feelings for GregH’s mom. The lady’s a saint—having put up with GregH all these years.

Her basement? Now that’s another story!

jdpaz on November 3, 2006 at 2:25 PM

GregH (as usual) got it wrong when he wrote: “Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.”

It’s really rather simple, Greggy. Corporations don’t like to support leftist ASSHOLES. Given the hostility of said leftist assholes towards corporations, can you blame them?

georgej on November 3, 2006 at 2:50 PM

No implication intended of a scandal. Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.

GregH on November 3, 2006 at 11:10 AM

And you think corporate money or government money should be spent on causes they don’t support? So if you support a candidate you would send money to his opponent? Corporations work in the future, un-predictability (is that a word?) makes it difficult to plan ten years out. Stability is an asset, not a liability.

right2bright on November 3, 2006 at 2:55 PM

“Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.”

Translation: People should give us money because…BECAUSE WE DESERVE IT, DAMN IT!!!!!

JackM on November 3, 2006 at 2:57 PM

Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.

It is more interesting to note that the Air America crowd seems a bit chagrined by this, does this mean they would be willing to accept blood money from defense contractors and corporate conglomerates?

B Moe on November 3, 2006 at 3:46 PM

Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.

It’s also interesting to note that those outlets have something else that Airhead America doesn’t have: listeners.

What do you think it means, Velma?

Pablo on November 3, 2006 at 4:01 PM

Just interesting to note that corporate dollars flow into outlets that support, not question, the status quo.

…that is because corperations are entities of *business*, and the boards for these corporate entities are put in place to make a buck.

…chaos is bad for business. Even notice how sudden change depresses the market?

…corporations aren’t ag’in’ the change our Leftist neighbors have taken as their mantra…when that change is productive and progressive, as opposed to wrenching and counter-productively idealistic. These are folks *risking other peoples’ money*. They’re both legally and — dare I say it in connection with a corporation — morally liable.

…nope…the status quo is good for business…particularly when the Dow is over 12….

…a little Econ 101.

Air America hires jackass

This really sums up Air America totally – doesn’t it?

Emmett J. on November 4, 2006 at 11:07 AM

Hey, GregH.

Hadn’t heard from you in awhile. Guess you were saving up for when you knew you had a great shot to fire.

Worked about as well as usual, it seems.

Corporations don’t care so much about the political status quo, they care about consistent income. That is the only thing a corporation is supposed to be concerned with. To the extent changes in the status quo influence that consistent income, they care. But not for political reasons.

Corporations spend an average of 43% of their annual budgets on advertising. They try to be careful where that money is spent, believe it or not. If they can identify air time that is unproductive, they will request that their advert slots don’t occur during that time. It can’t be any simpler.

An analogy using a billboard should help. I have money to get one billboard put up for my product. I have a choice of placing it alongside Interstate 5 in the San Fernando Valley, or along the Taft Highway (SR119) outside of Dustin Acres. One road gets hundreds of thousands of vehicles on it each day, the other perhaps hundreds. Air America is the Dustin Acres of radio. (My sincere apologies to the residents for any offense caused by the analogous use of their fair town)
