As usual, Robert Spencer gives an insightful view of islamic jihad. I find it interesting that the people who scream “women’s rights” the most (the liberals) are the very same people who are the quickest to defend Islam. Kind of contradictory, huh?

pullingmyhairout on November 2, 2006 at 9:38 AM

Excellent VENT Mr. Spencer. I’ve been e-mailing the links to the global rape jihad for some time. This VENT sums up the religious sanction explaining the phenomenon. Expect plenty of new hits to this site today.

heroyalwhyness on November 2, 2006 at 9:47 AM

Where are all the good Liberals? Stand up you guys, stand up and tell us how we need to “understand” these animals.
Looks like he’s pulling a Michael Steele with the cat—-all kinder, gentler babykiller.

seejanemom on November 2, 2006 at 9:52 AM

“Misinterpreted” and “taken out of context” seems to be the new defense of the left wing and other nut jobs lately.
And this question about putting meat out uncovered and having an animal eat it, whose fault would it be? Well the animals fault of course.

chilipequin on November 2, 2006 at 10:00 AM

This view of women seems to parallel their view of the West. Here, an uncovered woman tempts a man to rape, so she must be covered up. In this view, by covering herself she prevents harm to herself and the corruption of others in the community. My understanding is that fundamentalists do not see a woman as having the moral strength to withstand the advances of a man, so rape is only one outcome of having flesh exposed. A consentual relationship still requires the man to have been corrupted by the woman who turned his head.

The Islamists see the West, I think, the same way. The “unveiled” West for Muslim youth is like the corrupting influence of a pretty woman. But, the West is populated with infidels who are moral inferiors and therefore unable to “turn off the charm.” Placing the West under Sharia means saving Muslim youth from corruption and “saving” the West from our own weakness. I’m sure many an Imam sees this conquering of the West as a religious duty as well as necessity. So, the Muslim views on women should be of interest to every Westerner, not only women, else we become “bin Laden’s B*tches.”

shuzilla on November 2, 2006 at 10:02 AM

I just don’t have any faith in John Q. Public in the US anymore. I watched O’reilly on Opra, and the stupid mush-head audience made me sick. Those loosers would have their throats cut like sheep if they had to stand up. All these stupid Dems are so gullable they seem to be foolish enough to believe their own lame dogma.
I think they need to be forced to watch the Berg beheading tape and some footage of the Liberian civil war to wake up and understand the reality of cruelty and meaness, If whinning weenies is the best the US can produce, I’m afraid our national goose is already cooked.

Shmo on November 2, 2006 at 10:05 AM

This is why I’m in favor of more Concealed Carry – it lets women decide if they want to be considered ‘uncovered meat’ or not.

Me, I have no fear of women with guns. Those who want them helpless and dependent, however, [strong]do[/strong] fear them.

KCSteve on November 2, 2006 at 10:09 AM

“CONSISTENT WITH STRICT INTERPRETATION OF THE QURAN!”

Exactly!

Are we ready to pull our heads out of the sand yet?

Lawrence on November 2, 2006 at 10:15 AM

Let me see if I’ve got this. Women, who go out uncovered, are too tempting to men, and this causes men to commit immoral acts against them. How to explain then, that in the Muslim world, sexual attacks against young boys occur all the time. I guess they need to start covering up young boys, too, since Muslim men have no self-control or morality. Islam is the most bizarre and dangerous cult this world has ever seen. It can only be attributed to Satan himself.

liberty on November 2, 2006 at 10:16 AM

When are we collectively going to acknowledge the basic truth about Islam? Are we going to wait until its too late to do anything about it?

The truth is everywhere. All over the news. I think all of us – and I mean all of us – are just working a little too hard to be modern and tolerant and enlightened. If we set aside our subjective emotions and just looked at Islam today objectively … well, we’d be doing something. Soon.

War is coming. A war that may well be the bloodiest in human history. A true clash between cultures. The OTHER side knows it’s coming; so why is our side desperately pretending its not?

It’s coming. The only question is whether we’ll do something about it now – or give the other side a few more decades to grow exponentially more dangerous?

If history is a guide – we’ll do the latter. It’s 1936 all over again. And the world is making the wrong choice. Again.

Professor Blather on November 2, 2006 at 10:19 AM

Dogs and women are unclean but cats are not? Cats are just as into licking their genetalia as dogs. (and that is far as I go with that joke)

EF on November 2, 2006 at 10:28 AM

I really appreciate Robert Spencer’s Jihad Watch segments here at Hot Air. Thank you, everyone.

Years ago, I read a book about the way that rape is used in war. I’m reminded of it every time I hear about Muslim gangs raping “uncovered” women in various countries. I don’t think this is incidental: I think it is part of a larger strategy of jihadist warfare. (I wish I could remember the title of the book.)

Josephine on November 2, 2006 at 10:32 AM

You cannot legislate morality. It seems I’ve heard that somewhere before. Islam is a form of government NOT a religion. Take away the constitutional protections afforded it here in the U.S.

sonnyspats1 on November 2, 2006 at 10:56 AM

Professor Blather,

It’s 1936 all over again. And the world is making the wrong choice. Again.

And for the same reasons, with the same hopes. It’s unimaginable, and yet it’s happening before our eyes.

Pablo on November 2, 2006 at 11:00 AM

Excellent Vent! Hot Air is consistently increasing the quality of the presentations and has truly become a “Must Read” for those interested in getting the story the MSM, with their liberal bias, will not tell.

Professor Blather: You ask:
When are we collectively going to acknowledge the basic truth about Islam? Are we going to wait until its too late to do anything about it?

The biggest single problem the United States faces in Iraq, in our upcoming fight against the Islamofacist, and protecting the interests of the nation is the Left. Yesterdays Vent illustrates a small portion of this issue so clearly it is amazing.

The answer is that I believe it may take at a minimum, but probably more than 2 disasters for the Left to loose the support it has now and for the Islamofacist to be recognized for what it really is. There is not any substitute for such disasters to bring the nation together because of, primarily, the Left, and to lesser degree the stupidity, ignorance, and “head in the sand” attitude of some of the government officials we have now (Rice).

History repeats itself – Pearl Harbor, 9/11, and the guessing game begins on the next 2.

omegaram on November 2, 2006 at 11:18 AM

These are excellent clips. Robert Spencer’s delivery is calm, logical and he is so well-informed. He still needs to loosen up the body language a bit. He gave the example of Denmark for Muslim rapes, but Malmo is also a good example.

WriterMom on November 2, 2006 at 11:21 AM

And for the same reasons, with the same hopes. It’s unimaginable, and yet it’s happening before our eyes.

It is the same hopes. It really is. That same clinging to the idea that the other side just wants peace, if we’ll only be nice enough, long enough.

I saw a fascinating History Channel show on Hitler the other day; fascinating and troubling. Because the focus of the show was on how MANY times and how OFTEN and how PUBLICLY Hitler had declared his intentions. According to the show, as early as 1924 he’d laid out his entire plan – in writing! By 1933, he was saying it all publicly, out loud. By the ‘36 Olympics, all of the pieces were ready. Even as he started a massive re-armament (in violation of all sorts of treaties and international decrees), the world assumed he was kidding. And he kept right on telling the world exactly what he planned to do.

Just like the Mullahs are doing today. Just like bin Laden. Just like ImaNutJob in Iran. They must think we’re insane. After all, they’ve been telling us since at least 1979 exactly what they’re going to do.

9/11 was just them keeping their word, wasn’t it?

Yet still we ignore them. Still we assume they don’t really mean it. Let them annex Austria. Let them roll into the Rhineland. They couldn’t possibly mean the rest of it, right? Sigh. Why the @$@% do we teach history, if no one listens?

NOBODY had any business being surprised on September 1, 1939. And NOBODY ought to act surprised when our current enemies do exactly what they’ve been announcing for decades.

Yet still we hope. Those same hopes.

In a way, it makes me admire humanity. You know? I kind of like the idea that no matter how clear it is, no matter how many times this history has been repeated … we go right on hoping.

That’s kind of noble.

But it’s too bad millions of people are going to die because of those sadly noble hopes.

Professor Blather on November 2, 2006 at 11:22 AM

Professor Blather,

When the false distinction between Political Islam and Religious Islam is removed, and we realize that Islam itself, in toto, is a cancer that will destroy us from within, then we might begin to make headway.

Why do we put up with “We are all Hezb’allah” in Dearborn, Michigan?

How many times have we heard that the implementations of Marxism were incorrect and hence the Communism that killed tens of millions was merely mistaken, because Marxist theory is beautiful?

The same thing is thought about Islam by people who do not or refuse to know its history. Even Daniel Pipes holds on to the myth of some moderate (religious) Islam existing somewhere.

Why do we put up with “We are all Hezb’allah” in Dearborn, Michigan?

Not a clue. Not a frickin’ clue.

It’s truly sad that what’s coming is so obvious – and yet it’s so obvious that we won’t stop it. Or even try.

It is clear as day that Islam must be expelled from the West, as a protected ‘religion’, as an ideology and its believers.

There will be blood in the streets of Europe, when the people, who have a major disconnect from the elites finally have enough of Islam shoved down their throats, and enough of having to support the Muslim parasites.

The Islamic Mantra:

I am superior
I hate you
I am oppressed
Take care of me,
Or else

Islam was set up from the beginning to be parasitic on productive societies, and use their labor to support the “superior” Muslims.

How can we solve this problem?
Advocate of woman’s rights, come on servitives what do you have?
I am just playing devil’s advocate here, these blogs are extremely (and I use “extreme” quite literally) one sided. You people all sound so right when your all arguing the same side.

R_Byrne on November 2, 2006 at 3:13 PM

R_byrne, how about all those Hollywood lib “stars” who a few years ago (before 9/11) were flapping their yappers about FGM and women’s rights in these countries, stand up and be counted now? Not a one of these “stars” has said a thing about this crap any time recently. Is it because they are politically motivated sell outs? I think it is.

In answer to ‘what can be done’ we have to support the WOMEN who fight against these misogynistic bastards, and not pay lip service to the wonderful, mythical ‘moderate’ Muslims. The women apostates-Wafa Sultan, AHA, Bridgette Gabriel, etc…are the ones who the tortured women are looking to for inspiration. We have to amplify THEIR voices however we can.

Hollywood (sellout) stars will always be sellouts, they have managers and agents who tell them to do stuff. They will poke their head up when the time is right.

It’s not right, it’s a crappy way to do it…

But who is talking about Hollywood stars? I’m talking Governments, what do you want the Government of U.S.A to do, what can society do to fix this obvious problem…

R_Byrne on November 2, 2006 at 3:31 PM

WriterMom: I agree, it does make you want to stand up and scream, it’s really a problem that needs to be dealt with…

now… what can we do…

I’m not trying to say it’s a lost cause, nothing is a lost cause, I’m just saying blaming Hollywood stars, or the Demo’s or Country’s isn’t going to fix the issue. We need action, fair and just action… but who’s got ideas?

This is a very touchy subject, don’t forget freedom of religion, something the right holds high…

What is the American fasination with Hollywood stars?!
I’m talking Governments, who give’s a crap what “stars” are doing? Do they represent you to the world? (wait… sadly they do)… please, enough talk of Benaffer and more talk polically. You can’t force someone to change religion… or can you?

R_Byrne on November 2, 2006 at 3:42 PM

My problem with the Hollywood stars is the ease with which they get press coverages for their idiot, uninformed, moonbat opinions. I don’t give a rat’s ass about who they are bonking and why, what alternative treatments they endorse for hemmeroids or anything else.

WriterMom on November 2, 2006 at 3:45 PM

And-I’m not American. I adore America, though.

WriterMom on November 2, 2006 at 3:46 PM

First step to ridding the American hollywood stars influence… stop talking about them. Stop caring about them… It’s hard I know, they are everyone in today’s society, but one by one, if you just stop a conversation when a hollywood actor is named, then our point will get across.

R_Byrne on November 2, 2006 at 3:49 PM

Well, I don’t go to any movies, that’s another good step. Stop funding the maddness.

For starters, how about when this crap creeps up on shores, we call this mysigony what it really is: a hate crime. Why tiptoe around it? It is a pure, vile hatred of women. Now, as far as other countries are concerned, how about we have the UN give sanctions to countries that promote and protect this abuse? Oh, what’s that?? That’ll never fly????? Because the UN is full of countries that believe it is true!!!!!!

R-Byrne, I think nothing can be done, realisticly. Muslims understand the “uncovered meat” remark. Changes within the Islamic tradition have to come from within. I think there is a connection in how Islamists value/fear women and how they value/fear the West. Solve one and you solve the other. The most direct solution for both problems is for all Islamic women to assert their worth as equal to men, individually and as a group, through the next decades. That requires moving away from fundamental teachings that declare women inferior to men. It also requires more Muslim men find self-esteem in something more than as the head of the household. However, I suspect worldwide turmoil and apocalyptic talk of the last days from Muslim leaders will tend to make the faithful cling deeper to the tennants of faith, and less likely to question them.

shuzilla on November 2, 2006 at 4:23 PM

shuzilla on November 2, 2006 at 4:23 PM

True.

Only problem is that this just gives Islamic men a reason to beat and/or stone them to death. Or just simply cut off their heads.

However, if Islamic men did kill all Islamic women, it would take care of the Islamo-Fascist terroris problem in one or two generations.

BobK on November 2, 2006 at 5:37 PM

Robert, you have quickly won me over as a true fan. You are doing an invaluable service to the Western world. Keep it up!

Everyone, if you have not yet read one of his books, go get one now. They are truly amazing. I’ve just finished his “Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam and the Crusades.” It was eye-opening. Much of what we assume is truth about the Crusades is flat-out wrong.

Hack Ptui on November 2, 2006 at 7:31 PM

Why don’t we start with the premise that everyone is capable of immorality, and it is up to the individual to know where to draw the line. Clearly, if Muslim men are not able to control their base desires, it can hardly be the fault of the woman. Those desires exist whether the woman is scantily clad, or dressed in a suit of armor. Where, in this great “religion of peace” can these men not discover their PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for their own actions? Everyone is accountable for what he or she does. Note, I said HE or she.

thedecider on November 3, 2006 at 12:11 AM

That’s the problem with Islam. It’s fundamentally flawed. Islamic culture derives its morality and ethics from the Koran, much like Western culture derives its sense of morality from the Bible. The Koran teaches that the women are responsible for the actions of the men towards them–maybe in not so many words, but that’s the gist of it.

Mohammad was an evil, murderous man. Traditional Islamic culture is patterned after his example, since he is who they look to for guidance.

Hack Ptui on November 3, 2006 at 12:43 AM

Reply to Jonathon:

Actually I was speaking about both todays (11/2/06) Vent and yesterday’s Vent (11/1/06).

Vent of 11/1/06 describes so very clearly specifics on how the Left has been, and is now, actively subverting the interests of the United States for their own partisan interests.

I was also responding the Professor Blather question on when the nation would recognize the Islamofacist for the threat it is. My response to this question is opinion: The majority in this country will not recognize the Islamfacist threat for what it really is, and how serious it is, until 2 disasters catch their attention and motivate them to reduce the influence of the Left.

As Professor Blather noted that History repeats itself and wonders why so many do not pay attention, I agree. Not all do not pay attention, however, there are many here who so clearly see the Islamofacist as a threat, understand the statements made of their intent to dominate must be taken seriously, and see that history will repeat itself with disasters such as Pearl Harbor and 9/11.

For those of us who see these events coming, who see the suffering that so many will endure, what can we do? What else can we do but be politically active, participate in discussion as this on Hot Air, boycott any and all Muslim interests, and pay attention to events as they transpire?

What could someone do who could see Hitler’s intentions in 1938, before Pearl Harbor? Chamberlain was not disgraced until after Hitler attacked. The same will happen with our own Left.
