Steele labeled a “D” on CNN, racism ensues

During his appearence on CNN’s The Situation Room, Michael Steele, a Republican, was accidentally labeled a “D”:

Any normal person can understand that this was just a mistake, however commenters at that socialist blog are having a racist field day with this one. Here’s just a sample:
# He’s an Oreo.
# I also have a hard time believing a black man is a Republican too.
# a black republican = an oxymoron!
a gay black republican = an oxymoron within an oxymoron!
# He’s in the Black Republican Hall of Fame. How could they miss this?
# He doesn’t “look” like a Republican, but he’s the worst one of all; using blue and his pigment to fool voters into thinking he’s not a GOP House ‘N-word’.
If you can stomach it, here’s the rest.
One can only imagine what the big boy will say about this.
Update (Bryan): And the above is why it’s entirely possible that John Kerry wasn’t joking about Bush, but meant to joke about the troops a week before an election when speaking to a crowd of his fellow travelers. Look at how the C&L types talk among themselves when they think no one’s around, less than a week before an election. Think about the crowd Kerry made his “joke” to, and the blogs he called out for defending him (”screw them” Kos being the most prominent). Liberals have surrendered the benefit of the doubt on race issues, and continue that surrender with every racist email that Michelle gets and with every smear of Michael Steele, Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Lynn Swann, etc etc etc. And Kerry never even earned the benefit of the doubt when talking about the military. The foundation of his political career is an unconscionable smear of the troops he left behind in Vietnam. He smeared them again a year later, and again and again and again this week. That’s just who he is, in a similar vein to the C&L commenters just showing us who they are.
I suppose this puts me into the same nutroots column with other bloggers with whom I agree on Kerry’s “joke.” So be it.

Closed-minded CNN would mistakenly label any black politician a Democrat simply because they lack the ability to understand how the party they support could lose a member of the population normally considered “in the pocket” of the Democratic party, to the Republicans. He’s black, so he must be a Democrat. Talk about racial profiling.

Let CNN keep being racist for 4 or 5 more days. Please?

Ian, just a heads up. That very first Oreo comment you posted is being debated over there on that site. Some are blaming it on a “reich wing” troll. I don’t know if it is true or not. Just a heads up.
For what it’s worth, that comment Defector01 cut and pasted from their site is pretty clever. I don’t believe it. But it is clever. I’ll bet we are going to see that excuse get bandied about alot more in the future.

I’m just nitpicking, but…the location banner in the top left is also incorrect. It should say Temple Hills, Maryland, not Temple Hill. Just sayin’.

Shouldn’t we be pissed that they labeled him a Democrat simply because he’s black? What am I missing? The left was pissed when Fox mistakenly put a (D) next to Foley’s name, because he was a child predator.
RightWinged on November 2, 2006 at 10:34 PM
The blatant racism of the left is sickening.
But let’s instead worry about those racist jungle drums.

SouthernGent,
I am astounded by the comment you posted from over there.
I must have missed the Republican memo where we are suppose to”work night and day” against blacks.
Do they honestly believe this? If I get a tax cut, doesn’t my black neighbor get one? If I fight for the life of the unborn, doesn’t that include black babies? When I want to fight this war on terror to keep the terrorists over there and not here, doesn’t that protect the black person as well as the white? When I want less of a bloated government does that fight against black interests?
Where the hell does our party “fight against” blacks?
Good grief.

Anyone notice that “Right-wingnut” is not an insult?
Isn’t a wingnut the little tap with extensions that you screw down tight to hold everything together? Right of course means correct.
Go Steele! Smile, smile all the way to the polls.

There can’t be any blacks that are Republican, except Condi, and she isn’t really black. No one has seen Steele and Rice in the same room together…wait a minute, could they be the same person. Never seen Rice and Sowell together either. Hmmm, one black, who is not black, running around the country creating this image of black conservatives–a political unicorn. Karl Rove is more brilliant than I ever thought.

It’s nice to know the 42% tax on my commission is being put to good use. Good grief. I don’t care what color, size, shape, gender, age, sexual orientation you are as long as you don’t have your head up the jackass.
I’m very proud to know my meager contribution to Mr Steele supports an excellent man and roll model. Too bad I can’t vote for him in AZ. Go Jon Kyl & JD Hayworth!

VikingGoneWild on November 3, 2006 at 12:56 AM
That’s hilarious. It’s slightly more clever than Kerry’s non-apology apology, but it’s just as much a lie.
Search the left blogs for uses of the term oreo in connection with Steele, you’ll find your context easily enough, and it doesn’t scan as that half-witted attempt quoted above suggests. Let’s check the logic…
Would the libs EVER apply the term oreo to a white politician, using the supposed argument that he’s “a democrat on the outside”? What’s that on the outside you’re talking about? It’s his skin color, idiot!
So in the very act of denying his racism, he admits his racism.
Nice try, thank you for playing, come again.

What a scary sight this must be for dems, to see a black man who doesn’t need their condescension, their soft-bigoted low expectations and who escaped the liberal plantation. To be fair to the lib bloggers, they can’t help their racist tendencies, it’s a family tradition. From the Jim Crows to the Robert Byrds, they really are just being themselves. It’s taken awhile, but the black community is starting to see the value in putting their political eggs in more than one basket. The GOP isn’t perfect, nothing is, but their economic and social message is so much closer to their own than the dems “give everyone just enough to keep them dependent”. Steele will win in Maryland because he is by far the better candidate….and if so doing this causes more pain for the dems…well so be it…

Steele deserves to be elected if only because he
bought Hot Air ad space — early & often!
From what I’ve seen, he’s my favorite candidate period.

Damn. I was going to make a funny joke - something like: “Of course, he’s a Democrat - he’s black!”
But the liberals beat me to the punchline.
And they weren’t joking.
The hypocrisy of the left is simply stunning.

Not too long ago, Fox mis-labeled Foley with a (D). Well one of the female newsies at MSNBC, in an outraged tone, mentioned that he’d been mis-labeled a Democrat on Fox … I wonder if she’s just as “outraged” about this mis-labeling?
Somehow … I doubt it.
notthisgirl on November 3, 2006 at 8:38 AM
Does anyone really believe this? The oreo comment is a classic “black on the outside, white on the inside” racial slur, and it’s being used against a black man.
They also have bananas for Asians and coconuts for hispanics with darker skin. These are specifically chosen because of the color of the food, inside and out.
And besides, what is a “Democrat on the outside”? How can someone appear on the outside to be a Democrat? I can understand those who run as Republicans but actually vote as a Democrat being a RINO.
So if Steele were running as a Democrat, I would understand if they were calling him a DINO (not that I’ve ever seen one of those), but he’s running as a Republican. It’s not something he’s hiding.
But I should stop. There’s no reasoning with “logic” like that.
Esthier on November 3, 2006 at 9:15 AM
Ole Masa Turner ovah at CNN, he don’t like it dat they runnin’ offa da Plantation.
The Left’s racism of lowered expectations have kept Black Americans believing that they needed someone to give them “permission” to succeed.
It makes me sick to think how many Clarence and Condis didn’t even bother to try to excel because the Left convinced them that it was futile.

You know, hubby and I were out buying a car this last weekend, and at the dealership was a magazine w/ Obama on the cover. I mentioned to hubby that there is talk of him possibly being the dems pick for pres. We got on a discussion about race and politics, and how people that are not white are “supposed” to be dems. Hubby is hispanic. I said, according to “others”, that he is a traitor to his race. Hubby mentioned that there is a hispanic republican group here that is trying to get other hispanics to understand the republican party better and to understand why they should be voting republican. So basically, as he said, he’s not the only “traitor” to his race.
Hubby and I have been together for a very long time-since high school (17 years old then, 34 years old now.) We always joke w/ each other about our races, and I always call him a coconut. We we love each other, and we are joking. Heck, he says he’s been “crackernized.” But when I see others saying this, I know they are not joking, they are being extremely racist and insulting. They believe he is supposed to be a dem because he is brown. That is racial profiling, IMNSHO.
StephC on November 3, 2006 at 10:44 AM
Let’s not forget that a dozen actual black Democrats endorsed Steele in the last few weeks.
Maybe that’s the reason why they’re seething about this episode. They won’t dare going after the traitors within their own ranks.

This attitued is very pervasive in California. Many Mexicans get mad at others who speak English. My hubby works with a guy who was complaining about being chastised by his racial counterparts for having an American flag in front of his home and speaking English in the house.
I heard a Mexican guy on Savage last night who wanted to call the ACLU because the girl at McDonalds asked for his order in spanish and he didn’t speak it. She embarrassed him by saying (in English) something like “you’re Mexican and you don’t speak Spanish? blah blah blah.” He wondered if the ACLU would take his case (as if!)
I think the racism in the Democrat party this election cycle will bite them in the proverbial ass. Go Steele go!
NTWR on November 3, 2006 at 2:15 PM
Am I the only person in the world who thought that the Democratic Party, leftists, and liberals, were racist, bigoted, arrogant, insensitive, cruel, vicious, vindictive, insidious, salacious people?
With the current election it appears that other people are getting at least a glimpse of this reality, yet people are still attempting to tone it down and not just acknowledge this rampant, to the core arrogance and racism of the left-Democrat faction.
Let’s call a spade a spade, a hammer a hammer, and a racist, bigoted party and mindset a racist, bigoted mindset and dominant in the leftist-democrat persuasion.
Without doing so, these posturers continue to get away with dishonesty, cruelty, and lies.
Islam is not the religion of peace and leftists-Democrat-liberals are not loving, kind hearted people, but they are racist, ruthless people who have the dominant old mainstream news media as filters for news that does not favor them, and who editorialize and place news in 12 feet high lights when it helps them.

I believe Steele is going to pull this off. And it will drive the MSM nuts. And then they will do their best to either:
1 - Give him “opportunities” to see the light
*or*
2 - Demonize him the way they routinely do Clarence Thomas
In any event, CNN no longer surprises me anymore with any of their childish stunts. Accident? Yeah, whatever.
