And another assault ship — which is basically a carrier for helicopters — is off the coast of southwest India and supposedly headed for the Gulf next week.
DEBKAfile’s military sources report that the USS Eisenhower is at sea off the Saudi Arabian coast, together with another aircraft carrier, the USS Enterprise. The presence of the two US aircraft carriers, and their accompanying strike groups, in a body of water as small as the Red Sea is an extraordinary development.
The Eisenhower has indeed entered the Red Sea and the Iwo Jima and Boxer are in fact in the Gulf and at port in Mumbai, respectively.
The Enterprise, however, has concluded operations in the 5th Fleet. If you believe the Navy website, it’s presently in the Mediterranean.
Have at it, military readers. More Debka B.S.? Or is the world about to change?
Update: Do it for Lebanon!
Update: Iran has just begun a military maneuvers itself. They’ll run for 10 days and will, allegedly, involve long-range Shahab-3 missiles.
Update: The Colossus has been following this story for awhile and says it’s little more than nutroots paranoia. Our e-mailers agree.

Showing your liberal idiocy for all to see. Bravo!!
We fight because we were attacked. The biggest problem is that due to your side we have been far too restrained in our response. Personally I think we should have started in Afghanistan and driven straight through Iran and Iraq to the beaches in Syria. Yeah the polls show me as one of the 60% that is unhappy with this war but they don’t explain why. When the decision to wage war is made we should not take half-assed measures.

You got that right, Pablo. So many missed opportunities. How’s that old expression go? “Too soon old, too late smart.”

1) How soon will the next nuke go off?
2) Where?
3) Who’s will it be?

I think you’re onto something, Professor. I’m increasingly afraid that before all this is finally settled, somebody’s going to get nuked. My suspicion:
1) Not sure.
2) Iran.
3) Israel.
And if that happens, we’d better damn well back Israel up all the way.
