Oh. My. God. Bob Corker is rich:
Using the same standards, I guess John Kerry is unfit to serve because of his wealth. Same goes for just about every Democrat, and for that matter, every politician.

Why does the election icon in the ad look like the donkey is mounting the elephant?? That’s WRONG, man.

Ford was hilarious on H&C tonight. He was espousing ALL of his Christian virtues.
At the end, Hannity asks him if he’d sub for Alan again and Alan said he’s sounding more like he could sub for Sean.
SouthernGent on November 1, 2006 at 11:35 PM
Word has it that the Ford family isn’t exactly poor, either.
Seems they’ve done better than alright in the funeral home business and if you don’t think that can be a racket, you haven’t had to arrange the burial of a loved one lately!
Jen the Neocon on November 1, 2006 at 11:42 PM
I like that commercial. It screams, “success.”
Christoph on November 1, 2006 at 11:42 PM
Success on Corker’s part. $200 million isn’t so bad.
DaveS on November 1, 2006 at 11:45 PM
Ok. So he’s been successful in his life. I can see why we wouldn’t want him running our government(sarcasm).
americanpundit on November 1, 2006 at 11:49 PM
Don’t Ya just hate rich successful people that pay
90% of the countries taxes.
Texyank on November 1, 2006 at 11:50 PM
Why are the commies against capitalism?
infidel on November 1, 2006 at 11:52 PM
HAHA. It does, actually! Guess MSNBC really is in bed with the democrats :P
lorien1973 on November 1, 2006 at 11:53 PM
Oh geez…For all of you who saw him on H&C…did you really watch him? He had CRIB NOTES!
Every question he was asked, he had to look down. Had a script. Those answers weren’t his. I can’t believe it…well yes I can
hehe
lsutiger on November 1, 2006 at 11:54 PM
Uh, newsflash: saying you like to drive big ‘ol trucks isn’t a negative here in Tennessee. Good luck with that, Harold.
For that matter – why is it a negative to tell me that a self-made business man did extremely well?
Oh, never mind. Just answer the important question: was that Robin Leach?
Professor Blather on November 2, 2006 at 12:00 AM
Yeah, I’m sure he made that $200MM from 3 pay increases as mayor. Interesting note here. Says the first responders got pay increases every year. What he opposed was giving police and fire the right to strike. I wonder why.
Dems must think the police and fire are so Kerry-stupid that they wouldn’t know that they had gotten raises.

So, this this moronic ad basically puts an end to those, and I was among them, that said that Ford, Jr., was running a competent campaign. A truly astounding collapse in the past ten days. And this with the media heavily on his side. There’s a very sharp distinction to make between this campaign and that of Michael Steele in Maryland.
cms on November 2, 2006 at 12:28 AM
The national media isn’t focusing so much on the 8pt Corker lead from yesterday’s poll, but Ford has to know its over and is just trying for a Hail Mary, so to speak. You’ve gotta give him some credit, though. For a young, “green” candidate he did do really well in my opinion. I think that if more Democrats were like him the country would be in much better shape. He even opposes the Iraq war in a fairly responsible, civil way from what I’ve seen.

Re: lsutiger
Thanks, I’ll be posting about it tomorrow.
Ian on November 2, 2006 at 12:53 AM
Thats the 2nd time I’ve seen Ford pull that “Why am I a Democrat” schtick. Both times he picked Joe Average and said “so his kid can get healthcare.”
p0s3r on November 2, 2006 at 12:53 AM
I saw Mr. Ford on H & C and he looked sapped of energy and spoke like a conservative, to the dismay of A. Colmes, who looked at him as if he had leprocy.
Entelechy on November 2, 2006 at 1:26 AM
Did he notice that his party is lead by THE ORIGINAL ELITIST SNOB—SENATOR BENCHMADE LOAFER MOUTH?
Everyone on this board needs to find a working class Democrat TODAY, and enlighten them as to how their beloved party doesn’t give a hoot about them–unless they can clean their toilets in their houses at Martha’s Vineyard and nanny their brats.
I know I may be beating a dead ass, but this is the BIGGEST SECRET of this election. The everyday Dems can’t play the class card with us ANYMORE. Kerry has finally exposed the wizard behind the curtain and we need to keep the spotlight glaring in his face until next Tuesday and beyond—-if we are to keep this Country from being completely lost.
seejanemom on November 2, 2006 at 5:39 AM
I saw that last night as well. I was wondering how exactly that was supposed to help with him the Dems. He sounds like a Dem in name only. (DINO)
I guess it would give McCain someone to party with.
E L Frederick on November 2, 2006 at 6:29 AM
Hey Professor. Good point, but he’s not going after the vote of us pickem’up truck-driving, white trash rednecks. He’s after a more nuanced voter who understands complex and delicate matters.

Mr. Corker stated that he did not believe in police/firefighters having the right to collective bargaining: I saw no mention of “striking”. In fact, I find it hard to believe that police or firefighters would expect or want to be able to strike.
Any group of workers should be able to use collective bargaining as a tool to obtain wages/benefits. A negotiated contract would prevent the executive from abrogating an expected wage increase of X% and substituting a lower percentage, which is apparently what Mr. Corker did in this case. Mr. Corker has effectively (and needlessly) driven cops and firemen into the Ford camp. I would not be surprised if they vote, en masse, for Mr. Ford.
I hope Mr. Corker is elected…I just think he was wrong on this issue (and that Mr. Ford lied about wages being frozen).
Collective bargaining does not equal “right-to-strike”.

Why is the CLASS CARD still be played in 2006? Don’t the Munchkins of Lollipop Land have computers? There are statistics about who has the greatest personal fortunes in Congress—Rockefeller, Kerry…the list is ridiculous. Plantaion politics at its finest.
seejanemom on November 2, 2006 at 7:55 AM
Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Rockefeller, Kerry, Lamont, Ford. the list is endless to millionares in the Democratic party, led by “I hide my money off-shore” Soros. What a weak argument, “you are successfull therefore unfit to serve”. The difference; Pelosi non-union grapes, non-union wine, non-union resturants, but supports unions for everyone else.
Ford has his right foot on the dock, and his left foot in the boat.
“This is Ford and the RNC supports this ad”
right2bright on November 2, 2006 at 8:35 AM
Err… truth is that this is a rather old ad(relatively speaking) that came out before the nationally sponsored attack ads started… a free word of advice from elgeneralisimo, one shouldn’t rely on MSNBC for “news”…
elgeneralisimo on November 2, 2006 at 8:38 AM
heck, he’s convinced me. I’m putting my truck up for sale and abandoning my shameless pursuit of self-reliance, er..greed.
Barntender on November 2, 2006 at 8:57 AM
He left out “Cracker”
jeffNWV on November 2, 2006 at 9:59 AM
HAHAHAHAHA nice.
C’mon, don’t you folks understand the implicit moral superiority of the downtrodden. Didn’t Jesus say that the rich would never get into heaven?
Jesus was a socialist.
Enrique on November 2, 2006 at 10:05 AM
the ad was raaaaaaaacccccccccissssssssttttttttt…the policeman was, OMG, black!………dirty bob corker…bad bob

The usual pre-school arithmetic of the left:
powerful = evil,
weak = good,
rich = criminal
poor = victim.
*stifle yawn*

You do realize that you’re referring to the sitting congressman from Tennessee’s 9th district, holding the seat vacated by his father since 1996, right? Green? No. Incompetent at a “real” campaign because the 9th in TN is completely in the bag for the donks.
The Ford family is as elitist as you can get, short of living in Mass. They presume success because they can depend on the NAACP vote. They are one of the most racist families I’ve had the misfortune to witness in person. Harold Sr. could give Al Sharpton lessons.
Aside from this is the hypocrisy of bashing success. As mentioned by another comment, the family mortuary businesses have made the Ford’s quite well off in their own right.
Poverty must be the ultimate moral authority on how to manage a government’s money, then.
I get the impression that the Corker campaign has wisely decided to let Ford do all the talking in the last week, hoping he’ll ride Kerry’s verbal coattails. Seems to be working.
Freelancer on November 2, 2006 at 12:21 PM
Damn! That’s saying something.
BacaDog on November 2, 2006 at 12:45 PM
I’m from the opposite end of the state than the Fords, but their elitist antics are well known even up here amongst the hillbilly-cracker set. They have a history of flaunting the law and they still get re-elected. If they can’t get re-elected, they just find another family member to run instead.
Barntender on November 2, 2006 at 1:42 PM
This is the absolute funniest thing ever–think it would have been even better if it showed the poor/hungry/ragged children of the cop and fireman being run over by one of the many SUVs. Lord who thinks this stuff up?
