I haven’t commented on this, but I’ve been quietly working some emails (with little result) trying to get to the bottom of it.

Instead it reminded me of how my 15 year old son goes down when we’re roughhousing. He’s too big for me to keep him from falling, but I can slow him down so that he doesn’t get hurt.

I got the same impression from this video. Allen’s guys where just trying to move him out of the area. For some reason, he started going down, and not because Allen’s guys wanted to put him down. Instead, they tried to control his fall so that he wouldn’t get hurt. Then they helped him back up and continued him on his way.

If he had tried the same thing with a Secret Service detail he probably would have either found himself in an armlock or put on the ground HARD far earlier in the incident. It would have been justified on pure security issues alone.

This was about a very nice backpack that a slightly confused gray-haired man wanted to “borrow” from an unsuspecting Canadian tourist.

It happens. The moral here is never use your good backpack while traveling.

I’ve never heard of a terrorist or suicide bomber heckling and shouting questions at a Senator before trying to kill him, they usually try to maintain a low profile.

So anyone who approaches a senator or congressman that is heckling and shouting is okay and let him in? That is a unique position on profiling, I will pass that on to the NSA, FBI and other agency’s that protect.

I think it had to be clear to Allen’s staff this guy was just some liberal ass trying to disrupt the event. Although according to many of you here there is little distinction and the fact that he is a liberal means he hates America, hates our troops, supports the “freedom fighters,” and just can’t wait until the U.S. becomes a Islamic theocracy.

Either way though it was a pretty brilliant stunt. Democrats have been trying to portray Allen as a racist, woman-hating, redneck, mean-spirited bully the whole campaign. What better way to get that point across than have his campaign staff beat you down in front of a camera. If this Stark guy was really smart he would have hired a black woman to do the dirty work…imagine how that would have looked.

Foul-mouthed Kos freak and Webb backer Mike Stark followed through on his threats and attempted to push past Senator George Allen’s security detail at a Charlottesville hotel. The incident is on video, available here at Hot Air. After the nut……

So this event, that had a non fatal outcome, is a ‘reminder’ of an event with a fatal outcome that happened over forty years ago – and it is the times in which we live TODAY that warrant firmer action?

No irony in any hills, just a whole lot of stupidity sitting in front of your computer. But I’ll try to dumb it down to a level that you and your fellow idiot JaHerer22 can understand–if that’s even possible. George Allen is a sitting U.S. Senator, one of only 100 members of the upper house of the nation’s highest legislative body. That office automatically makes him a target for terrorists, nutjobs (Democratic or otherwise), or anybody else who happens to decide that taking him out would be a good idea. The same is true from any other senior government official. Consequently he needs to have security that maintains positive control over his surroundings while remaining flexible enough for him to conduct public business. Apparently the no doubt extensive list of your shortcomings includes a lack of historical background, or you wouldn’t mock more knowledgeable people who reference Jack Ruby, or Sirhan Sirhan, or any other assassin who was permitted to get too close and capitalized on the opportunity. And it doesn’t matter whether a successful attack happened forty years ago or last week if you can learn something useful from it that will help prevent the next one. Bottom line, protecting the Senator is the priority, not worrying about hurting the feelings of some attention-whoring leftist moron. Kick his ass hard, and maybe the next one will think twice before acting like a retard. Then again, acting like retards is what you people do.
