It’s reminiscent of the old poem that begins,

“What if they gave a war and nobody came?

Sounds clever, doesn’t it? “A pox on all of them!” But what most people don’t know is the second line:

“Why, then the war will come to you!”

That, in a nutshell, is what this election is all about – the stakes of which Michelle has illustrated all too clearly in her Vent.

Even when you choose not to choose, you’ve chosen. If you’re on a battlefield and decide not to fight – and the enemy doesn’t return the favor, as the donks certainly won’t – then whether you believe in defeat or not, you’ve chosen it.

Not every choice is between “good” and “bad.” Sometimes, it’s between “not so good” and “bad,” or between “bad” and “even worse.” And if those are the only options on the menu, then it’s “not-so-good” over “bad,” and “bad” over “even worse” every single time.

Or, to paraphrase another old saying,

“All that’s needed for the donkey party to prevail is for good Republicans to do nothing.”
