Wolf Blitzer gets the nutroots blackface-photoshop treatment

Says Hawkins:
The same liberals who say they can hear imaginary jungle drums on Bob Corker commercials and who claim that having a playboy bunny say, “Call me,” to Harold Ford in a commercial is an obvious racial slur would undoubtedly see nothing racial or out of place about drawing Wolf Blitzer as a big lipped member of a minstrel show.
I think everything that can be said on this subject was said when Gilliard did it to Steele and Hamsher did it to Lieberman. Given the uproar in those cases, the fact that the nutroots persists in it lends this one a weird defiant overtone. It’d be like if George Allen insisted on referring to Webb’s tracker as a “macaca” even after he’d been called on it.
I guess they’re speaking racism to power now.
It’ll happen again. What’s interesting is how the betrayed allegiances at which they direct this delightful little metaphor seem to grow broader each time they use it. Gilliard mocked Steele for betraying black liberal Democrats; Hamsher mocked Lieberman for betraying liberal Democrats; Billmon mocks Blitzer, as near as I can tell, for betraying liberals. You could do a Venn diagram of their logic here. But at this point, who’s left?
I don’t know, maybe it won’t happen again. Maybe they’ve simply run out of apostates.

This just goes to show, the only measure of someone’s racism is whether they vote “D.” We’re all a little bit racist, but those of us that express our atonement by voting Democrat are free to let loose with the racism, as long as it’s directed at Jews and the “wrong kind” of blacks.
Who are bigger dupes – blacks who consistently vote Dem despite the fact that all they get is lip service? Or born-again Christians who vote Rep despite the fact that all they get is lip service?

I’m going to take a whack at this:
Classic 19th century black minstrels were performing at their boss’ demand, usually to avoid physical pain for not getting it right.
Steele is black, so opposing the Democrats is against his best interests. Lieberman is rebelling against the party and so obviously enslaved by the neocon warmongers. Wolf can’t be bothered to deal appropriately with the villain’s wife so he is obviously serving some dark master.
With this ultra-inclusive definition for the use of blackface I disagree with Allah that they will run out of people who deserve it. Because after all the Democrats and blacks who will eventually deviate (even slightly, Wolf!) from the party line there will still be the rest of the country working against their own best interests.
As we all know, to serve your own best interests is to agree with the Democrats, serve the Democrats, and vote for Democrats. It’s just a matter of political expediency whether you’re branded with a swastika or blackface.

What we see happening here is typical Leftist tripe meant specifically to send a clear message to the rest of the minions that if you step out of line, even if it only appears that you didn’t drink the entire cup of kool-aid, then there’s hell to pay and you will be mocked, ridiculed, and publicly scorned. Most 19th Century minstrels, like Dan Emmett and “Daddy” Rice, were white.
Minstrel performers were largely white guys who would black-up and portray stereotypes of blacks — like “Zip Coon” the foolishly “sophisticated” and uppity urban black, the black predator, the warm-hearted mammy — with a few black troops joining in (under white management)…who had to black-up, as well. It was all watermelon and chicken, how much they either loved or feared “massa”, how big their feet were, and casting moon-eyes at “Canebrake Katie”.
But, the parallel holds…except, now, folks don’t black themselves up. They’re blacked up by others.
Black liberals, pundits and allied anti-social types blacking-up white politicians (like Bill Clinton) to show favor. On the other hand, upwardly mobile black politicians who want to make a difference in the world are back to being blacked-up to appear, as Belafonte put it, as “house n*ggers”.
…no…we’re not “over” anything as far as race in America goes…the worrisome thing is that it’s all coming from the Left…and they’ll neither admit to it or be called on it by the 89% of black America that keeps them in power.

In a sense, this is slightly consistent with hearing racism in those drums or seeing it in Harold Ford’s “call me” girl. Liberals are obsessed with racism, so a good minstrel metaphor is always lurking under their thoughts, ready to arise to be used in any situation, no matter how far from germane.
And, as with other nutroot classics like “rape gurney Joe”, the nastiness is mixed with and somehow augmented by the sheer stupidity of the gag. I mean, if you read the original nutroot post you’re just like, how does he get from Blitzer making a little peevish statement about Lynne Cheney going after him to jumping to an elaborate blackface photoshop complete ith all that “lawsey massa” crap? I mean, who thinks like that? And who sees that and cracks up? They’re just so clumsily, aggressively, nastily witless.

The problem is not about whether he asked the right questions to Libs or GOP’ers.
The problem is that he answered a question the wrong way……Lynn Cheney put ole’ Wolf on the hotseat when he said he wanted the US to win.
She pretty much pinned his ears back during her interview with Wolf last week. Lose to a Republican Wolf……you get the treatment.

What liberals have taught me so far this week:
1) I don’t love God. But they do.
2) I shouldn’t judge people … especially not the people judging me and telling me not to judge.
3) Suggesting that a white woman might find a black man attractive is racism.
4) To insult someone – you should paint them up in blackface. Because that’s not racist at all. Only Playboy bunnies and using the term “macaca” is racist. The N-word, calling people “Oreo,” and blackface is not racist.

…there is a definitive glimpse into the Democrat psyche: one can be “so black”…there are degrees of blackness.
If someone darkly complected is poor, lives in the 9th Ward, has several other social strikes against him, he’s “so black”. He’s more genuinely black, because someone black *should* be poor, maybe, should live in the 9th Ward, should be vulnerable, etc.
If, on the other hand, someone of African ancestry lives in the ‘burbs, drives a Volvo, has read the latest “summer novel”, has a college education, maybe is a lawyer, drinks Cabernet and not Boone’s Farm, whose wife calls him “my husband” not “my baby daddy”, he’s “not very black”.
It’s all about quantifying stereotypes.
Where is the black outrage at white pundits grading their “blackness” on a curve?
You can be so fat, so nice, so awful, so cheap, so stupid, or so late, based upon how fat, nice, awful, cheap, stupid or late other people you’ve met are or have been. How can someone be “so black”? It’s like being “so pregnant”. It’s a binary thing. You either are or you aren’t. If you’re not black, you’re something else, and I hope you like it because it isn’t going to change soon (unless you’re Michael Jackson).
Black isn’t something one can quantify…because, if it is, it can then be judged qualitatively, and be “so black=bad”, which I thought the Party of Self-Promotion was trying to wean us all away from.

He does their bidding (and it was so obvious that he was doing the bidding of his “betters” in his interview with the Second Lady) and they shame him for it, because he couldn’t read her mind and foresee that she was going to “ambush” him in response to his prepared ambush on her.
If it’s Michael J. Fox shilling for them, it’s “don’t hit the girl” rules for the GOP, but when they’re going after us, all bets are off and a “gentleman” like Wolfe can go after a lady like Lynne with bare fists while Ted Turner holds his coat.

That reminds me… I was attacked by one of the bigger liberal blogs for blasting one of the left’s previous “blackface” incidents for having morphed Hillary on to the cover of the Roots DVD. The problem was, mine was in context and not mocking of someone’s race. It was when Hillary made her famous “running Congress like a plantation” comment. The skin tone of her face was darkened to match the hands as best I could with my crappy photoshop program, but that was it. It wasn’t the minstrel imagery or anything remotely related. It was simply mocking Hillary for painting the Democrats as slaves on a plantation. Not invoking the stereotypical racist imagery to blast those who don’t agree with me. It was shocking how many hundreds of comments these blogs got and who could not comprehend the difference no matter how many ways I broke it down to them.

The “satire” is aimed at Mrs. Cheney. The blog calls her the “massa’s wife” being tough on the house slaves. Blitzer is then painted up to represent one of the house slaves she was yelling at.
Translation: Lynne Cheney kicked Wolf’s butt and the uber Leftie bloggerman was sooo pissed he couldn’t lampoon straight. No one understands what his point was, and the image of Wolf Blitzer in blackface is going to be around for a while, taking on weird, unintended (and just wait, hilarious) meanings.
