I’m sorry Michelle, but I could only watch a little bit of this segment. I see Liberals as not only wrong on most issues, but arrogantly and dangerously foolish, so it’s difficult to stomach anything they say. I have a very liberal father-in-law, and to keep the peace, we just can’t talk politics.

I agree with you to a point liberty but it's also important to "know thy enemy". I sometimes venture into liberal websites and blogs to see what's going on from their side.

Is the truth really as simple as this: liberals just don’t have a vision?

Professor Blather on October 30, 2006 at 4:35 PM

He said that they had to articulate that "vision" after they win on Nov. 7th, 2006. Must be done ahead, not après.

He made my day when he (a nice person) said "we're all sane". Many people and statements came to mind - it was pretty amusing.

I never try to convert such people but adore talking to them, calmly, with examples and logic. Ex. "W is not my President". "Really, Bill Clinton was and is mine"... The erudite/elitist ones are the best to tango with because they can't act like cretins but you can take them close enough to where they realize their own flawed 'reasoning' capabilities.

Liberals are NOT our friends. People who want to cut and run plus say nasty things about the Commander and Chief, while we have Men and Women stationed in dangerous places are not our friends.

Lives are in danger. It isn't talk, it is lives. When we are talking about politicians getting along or having a debate, it is lives. The lives of sons daughters, husbands and wives. I don't think anyone has to be nice to people who are saying nasty things putting their lives in danger.

Maybe I am a bit more agrivated than usual today about liberals and their socialist ilk. Today, I walked through parking lots, hallways, and other decks. There were young people who just got back from Iraq and were being processed as they arrived home. I seen them there, with their backpacks waiting around the building all day.

When I see these young people, I feel proud of them and this country. I see people who are doing things worth while with their lives who come home with memories of what ever went on there. Walking through the hallways, I control a teary eye thinking I am among heros or people who dedicate their lives for us.

I think of people like us folks here, we come home read Hot Air, Watch Vent and type our views here, just living the leisure life. These people are not doing that, we have it so easy. Perhaps there is a guilt on my part, seeing these people doing and have done so much and we just sitting here typing what we are typing here.

To conclude, I see liberals or hear liberals, I think of these brave men and women I seen and walked among today. They are people who by their actions and what they say, can make it where most of these people I walked among would not be there today but perhaps "elsewhere" due to the libs.

Sorry, Michelle, but I not longer have any tolerance or respect for the liberal/leftist point of view. Just going through the exercise of trying to pretend to be respectful of such innane, irrational, and nonsensical ideology would be an injustice to my sanity, my character, and my way of life. Now, don't misunderstand that what I'm saying is that I would disrespect people who hold these views, because I don't. It's their views that I disdain.

But, I have no desire to try to understand or rationalize their irrationality or their viewpoints. I can be civil to liberals/leftist, but not to what they believe.

My boss is a liberal. We've had debates which can get heated. He is probably the only liberal I can talk to without getting sick. He is on our side when it comes to illegal immigrants. He doesn't agree with us being in Iraq but feels since we are there, we should fight to win.

I am also stranded here in the People's Republic of Taxachusetts. It is depressing seeing all the moonbats with their signs. If these useful idiots could think, they'd understand our taxes will sky rocket if Deval "Dukakis" Patrick gets elected.

I see Liberals as not only wrong on most issues, but arrogantly and dangerously foolish, so it’s difficult to stomach anything they say.

I quite agree, liberty, either that or they're lying or they should know they're lying when they "mistate" facts to make their case, on those extremely rare occasions they actually do try to make a case for what they want.
I know I can't stomach it and use the mute button on my TV remote quite a lot.

E L Frederick, I got the Minnie Mouse image, too, as if MM has to appear cute and sweet so as to be sufficiently non-threatening to the other side.
Bows on the head are adorable but don't exactly say that a lady is "arguing from a position of authority."

Sorry, but I'm not going to be nice or civil to Liberals anytime soon--when I think of how they've ruined this country and hurt us and our soldiers in this war, I just get furious!

When are you going to put that into practice on your blog?

This from someone who is the perfect archetypal example of the divisive unthinkingly reflexive partisan troll.

Now *THAT* is really funny!

Michelle,

I totally agree with you on your post above.

Having such discourse with someone on the other end of the political spectrum in these polarized times, with grace and humor, displays the highest form of maturity and pays the greatest tribute to our democratic way of life than anything else I know. Well done role modelling.

Now if only our regressed enemies could find chatting over a cup of tea more fun than, say, chopping off one’s head over a misplaced metaphor, there might be more cause for hope. Sadly, I don’t see that happening.

But keep up the good, civilized work. And very best wishes.

It was civil. But only because he was free to spout his mistruths and misconceptions without interference or counter. Seemed like a CNN interview at best. Still, MM may have something here, laying right below the surface.

I think it’s a healthy little reminder, in the midst of a heated election season, that you can disagree vehemently with your most extremist political opponents without ripping each other’s throats out and leaving a blood-spattered mess.

Liberals have a vision, it just requires Rainbows, unicorns, magical creatures, genies, world peace, everyone getting along.

Basically the same effect has having a pre-frontal lobotomy.

Did you notice that he used the phrase "articulated a foreign policy vision" at least half a dozen times, used the word "articulated" at least 10 times, kept repeating that liberals have to be better about articulating their policy visions ...

... and then completely failed to articulate any policy vision?

That's funny.

Is the truth really as simple as this: liberals just don't have a vision?

Defector01 says:

Nice horns, where’s the tail?

Oh, you're naughty. Okay. My turn to be naughty.
The tail (as in ass, as in donkey, as in Democrat, as in liberal) was in plain view (aka Bill). What about the obligatory pitchfork? Do you suppose it was missing because the Dark Lord (Rove) was out grinding/sharpening the tips?

Michelle, you really do need to get a higher class of friends. I could barely sit through this schlock with you asking this liberal freak of nature questions about the Iraq war. Throw this little fruitloop back in the pond...please.

This close to election day and to have a liberal talking point puppet on the vent with Michelle, for the most part not rebutted, is weak at a time we need some fire power. Get out the hammer, Michelle.

I don't like Michelle's look in the screen cap... for whatever reason it screams "Minnie Mouse" to me. I prefer to be able to take Michelle more seriously.

In any case, if I'm giving fashion advice, I'm way the heck out of my MOS.

I think this was great, and if the liberals who still have a conscience - like KP - can handle and enjoy a sit-down with a great mind like Michelle, more power to 'em. But isn't the problem that the vast majority of them just can't? I've tried "nice and friendly" don't-lose-my-cool political discussions with liberal friends and family, but they inevitably can't stand having their faulty premises exposed, which even the slightest turn of phrase can do. So, with the liberals I know who I like, and even those I love, I've learned to stay light years away from politics. Wish I knew someone like Liberal Oasis who seems to be above much of the fray, but I think they are a very rare breed indeed, and always will be. But Michelle, this was touching, and some good fun.

I checked out the Liberal Oasis link and there is nary a mention of his participation with HotAir. I guess he would lose some face with his readers.

Michelle,

I totally agree with you on your post above.

Having such discourse with someone on the other end of the political spectrum in these polarized times, with grace and humor, displays the highest form of maturity and pays the greatest tribute to our democratic way of life than anything else I know. Well done role modelling.

Now if only our regressed enemies could find chatting over a cup of tea more fun than, say, chopping off one's head over a misplaced metaphor, there might be more cause for hope. Sadly, I don't see that happening.

But keep up the good, civilized work. And very best wishes.
