Video: “Obsession”

posted at 8:28 pm on October 28, 2006 by Allahpundit

Someone ‘Tubed the whole damn thing.

It’s in eight parts of roughly ten minutes each; all of them are there, in sequence, in the video sidebar. I haven’t watched yet but it comes highly recommended.

Saturday night in the AP household: where “wine, women, and song” means Heineken, burqas, and explosions.

Maybe I’ll watch it back to back with the Atomic Bomb Movie and really make a night of it.

Update: People are e-mailing to say that the producers are trying to keep this stuff off YouTube. I didn’t realize; I’ve now removed the clip. I think their strategy’s foolish, actually, since I’m more inclined to buy the DVD now that I’ve seen the film, but so be it.

They’ve posted a 12-minute trailer on their website. Click the image to watch.

I don’t get it. Does this mean you sit arround watching “Obsession” on YouTube while drinking Heinekin?

Or have I missed the punchline, yet again?

Yup.

Warning! After you’ve watched this you can’t say you haven’t been warned (i.e., ignorance can no longer be your excuse.)

I found this movie on Google video awhile ago. Definitely worth watching every few months just to remind you what’s going on in the GWOT.

If you haven’t seen the BBC video about terrorism, you must. Especially the part where they are saying that it is a figment of our imagination and a picture of a newspaper headline warning of bombs on the tube flashs on the screen. Of course this was made before the tube bombing. I wonder if they will ever show that again and if they will edit that part out?

No I don’t.

Pablo on October 28, 2006 at 9:44 PM

Very powerful. Glad I could see that.

One comment: In the last segment, much was made of the so-called “moderate” Muslims, and how the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful. That may well be. But a great many Germans were not Nazis, and in fact opposed the Nazi philosophy. We firebombed Dresden nonetheless.

I pity them. But war is not a time where pity can stay men’s hands. War is a time to do what is necessary to survive.

If you recognize the value of this video . . .yes, share the link . . .but don’t stop there. Purchase a copy and make sure you library, your schools and religious libraries have a copy to share. It’s important to get the message out in every venue, but don’t forget the message has a financial aspect. To encourage this type of production, we have to financially support it as well.
Just saying. ;D

That the majority of Muslims are under 30, an age where the sense of compassion and the critical intelligence are both dangerously under-developed (or, as within the standard Islamic education system, scorned as demonically un-Koranic), and these “youths” are being spoonfed homicidal anti-infidel dogmas by maniacal imams, we face a future of hordes of murderous morons as certain as Japanese Imperialist kamikazis of their “divine” mission.

And, with weapons provided by the suicidally-stupid West, who allow them to buy the latest technologies, study at our best universities, and then turn the stolen, double-edged knife of our knowledge against us.

WOW!! Powerful video & powerful message. It seems to me that something like this would be the perfect fit for a public service message. However, I would bet my retirement against a two-day-old doughnut that PBS will never air this important film. If this doesn’t convince folks that this IS A WAR and not just some political football, then nothing will. Thanks AllahPundit for providing that link. I was watching a coupla football games before I clicked on this. I couldn’t stop watching ’til the very end, and had to catch up on the scores after the fact. While our liberal, love everybody and close-your-eyes teachers (unions) are spouting their multi-culti crap, we are being out-flanked by these hideous excuses for human beings, who want to spread hatred, violence, and world domination for THEM and DEATH for anyone who disagrees with them. Again, WOW.

hillbillyjim on October 28, 2006 at 11:13 PM

My last, rather lengthy post didn’t make through, so here is a shortened version and I’ll try again. Islamofascists BAD, fighting domination GOOD. Amazing video and message. Thanks AP for providing the link. Should be required viewing for both houses of Congress and all voters. Wow, what a fascist, rightist idea. Let’s get PBS to run it over and over (heavy sarcasm!)

hillbillyjim on October 28, 2006 at 11:25 PM

P.S. Where are all of these “human rights” advocates in this. Is this not the ultimate abuse of children. Or is their arguement the same as always: “It’s all OUR fault.”

hillbillyjim on October 28, 2006 at 11:43 PM

OK. So I can’t spell. Doesn’t look right——-argument

hillbillyjim on October 28, 2006 at 11:47 PM

No, it won’t be on YouTube for long. My colleague is one of the lawyers protecting the copyright — I first saw the film 8 months ago — and he screams at YouTube, they claim they’re innocent of all wrong doing, pull it off, and then some gungho citizen rips the film and puts it back up there a month later.

What I would recommend is let’s crosslink to LGF, get as many operatives as we can, and offer a hotlink to the film on Media Matters, Daily Kos, etc., akin to the Rush ideal that if we “can save just one liberal, just one” it will have been worth it.

RoveOnVacation on October 28, 2006 at 11:49 PM

btw, as mentioned on another string, we succeeded in getting heavy rotation on Fox News. Rush raved about it about two months ago, Hannity soon after… Saturday it appeared on the Big Story. Expect to see more of it. They asked CAIR to join a roundtable discussion of how these schools are brainwashing children. CAIR, naturally, declined to appear.

Threats? What threats. Why, that’s just another Rovian Republican strategy. Hell, they all love us over there in the Middle East. All we can do… is give peace a chance. MY BIG FAT HAIRY EYEBALL!!!!!

hillbillyjim on October 29, 2006 at 12:03 AM

Seriously, all we can REALLY do at this point, is to try to elect another Republican majority, and then keep on pressuring these people to WAKE UP and see what is really going on in the world around us/them, and TRY to get some appropriate actions to eminate from them. They (both parties) have had time, (and I’m sure plenty of intel), to figure out what is really happening in our world. This is not the time to shrink away from our duties, whether it be the Congress, the President, the media, or the people. This is really a wake-up call, folks. Hittin’ snooze button has been done to death.

hillbillyjim on October 29, 2006 at 12:30 AM

Oops! I guess my last post was a little bit off-message.(Couldn’t help it; too easy!) To get back to the theme, I guess it comes down to choices. If you choose to believe, (like Michael Moore and his ilk) that jihadi thought and behavior doesn’t pose a threat, then go ahead and keep thinking that we are safe here in America and it will never go far enough to affect ME. If you refuse to swallow the Dhimmi Kool-Aid and you want to keep Western values and our Judeo-Christian heritage alive, and if you believe in capitalism instead of Sharia, then vote Republican and then let your representatives and Senators know in no uncertain terms that you expect them to do the right thing to protect us, and our way of life. Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their party (nation/way of life).

Free Kurdistan on October 29, 2006 at 2:01 AM

Unfortunately, I doubt this film will get a larger audience.

The only movies about the War on Terror that get big are ones that state that make America look like the eeeevil one (i.e. Fahrenheit 9/11, The Power of Nightmares, Why We Fight, Iraq For Sale). Why is that?

Free Kurdistan on October 29, 2006 at 2:08 AM

I’m just waiting for someone, somewhere to put two and two together, connect the dots, or what have you …

Until the last 40 years or so, Muslims were content to occupy their little part of the world and for the most part, bothered no one. They have had their issues with Israel and tribal spats and wars, but those are still more “local issues” than anything. So, why the global jihad? Why now? And how?

Follow the money.

LissaKay on October 29, 2006 at 2:10 AM

A couple excerpts from my way too long post on another web site where Guantanamo is being discussed… I posted links to these youtube videos there because so much denial of the true nature of the beast that we are up against is being expressed, and these vids slice right through the crap. It’s hard to deny it when it comes from the Jihadis’ own lips.

This Islamo-Fascism is not a product of our policies, this war is a mandate of the book that they call the Koran and the extreme radicalizing of the teachings therein. The reasons that many Americans are able to say that Bush has caused an upsurge in terrorism are because:
After 911 he did the right thing by keeping the light of honesty shining on the true nature of the enemy, making it appear as if a new thing to many people even though is is not.
He refused to accept that “we” are responsible for their acts of terror as called for by Moore and Co.
He took the fight to them.
He ignored allies like the French (who are now in active surrender to mobs of Islamo-Fascist “youths”… who by the way will not accept surrender anyway).
But the number one reason that people blame Bush… They would rather not be forced to acknowledge the threat.

I know some people learn better with simple little slogans. Like “Death to America” over and over. This was being said pre-Bush, but the whole world was ignoring it until 911… Well some of us refuse to go back to sleep. My granddaughters are counting on me to maintain a world where they can grow up to be what ever they want to be. If that is too much for some to accept now, you may change your mind down the road (as many in Europe are starting to). Well, I will not submit at all.

The people who made the video are trying to get it distributed and shown in the USA, so far no one will do it.

The reason given: “there’s no interest in it”

The movie’s makers could use money from sales of the DVD to help get it to America’s screens, TV stations, and stores.

The guys are (rightly) trying to recoup their costs. To date all the online versions have been posted in breach of their copyright and have been removed from YouTube at the makers request.

Can’t really blame them: the other side has the greatest unearned wealth in history to finance their lies and propaganda and our side can’t even make a few dollars to finance a talking heads movie.

Go to http://www.obsessionthemovie.com and spend the $20* and get the DVD. You’ll be contributing to the effort and doing the right thing.

*it’s a director’s cut and has an extra 15 minutes in it.

On a personal level, I’m a little torn here because I know many people can’t afford it, plus it is a good way to “get it seen”, but OTOH, I believe the good guys who made it deserve to receive their just reward.

We could do both, watch it here and buy a copy and give to someone we know.

flagwaver on October 29, 2006 at 8:17 AM

I concur with flagwaver (above on October 29, 2006 at 8:17 AM)

Please go to http://www.obsessionthemovie.com, buy the DVD, and support their unique and priceless public education effort on the threat of Jihad.

Readers of HA may be very familiar with the threat of Jihad, but this film puts it together in an incredibly informative, convincing and shocking package (I have a professional involvement in this problem and have also read intensively and followed the blogs on these matters for several years. Nevertheless, Obsession floored me).

Obsession can be described as a 21st century version of the WWII “Why We Fight” films which familiarized a generation of American soldiers with the threat of fascism. It is the best available briefing on Jihad for the general public.

I’ve already purchased copies for my brother and brother-in-law. They are both corporate types with not enough time or inclination to go beyond the MSM on these matters. This DVD will, hopefully, prime a fun and informative Thanksgiving dinner with my Streisand and Hillary loving, opinionated mother-in-law in attendance ;-]

Happy Thanksgiving and please buy the Obsession DVD.

MarcH on October 29, 2006 at 12:00 PM

Thanks for posting this.

Don’t count on it being on Youtube.com for too long.

I’ve had this on Jihadi Du Jour for quite a while now and it has been removed by Youtube three times. Yet I haven’t seen a single post of the CNN Sniper video removed.

Go Figure.

Joe on October 29, 2006 at 12:23 PM

I ordered my Director’s Cut of Obsession and received it early last week. Support people like these filmmakers with your dollars.

There are two reasons why we don’t see more films like this. The main one is outright fear. And that has to be conquered. The second one is that the far left controls the vast majority of microphones, cameras, and the folks who know how to use them.

You want to help fight and win this war? Buy this film and show it to someone you love, or someone with a bad case of BDS. Consider it like the old bond drives back in WWII.

The MSM aren’t going to help us with this education effort. It’s up to the People to do it for ourselves.

Self-reliance, America! We were never meant to be a nanny-state.

techno_barbarian on October 29, 2006 at 12:33 PM

I ordered the DVD “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against The West” a couple months ago and watched it. It is a pretty good introduction to the war of religious imperialism that Muslims are waging against the non-Muslim world. I recommend it. It’s only twenty bucks on the link I provided above. It’s pretty obvious that the good folks producing this documentary are operating on a shoestring and deserve our support. You should lend your copy to every single one of your friends who shows interest, then donate it to your local church or library.

Another documentary equally as good, if not better, is “Islam: What The West Needs To Know.” It also is being produced on a shoestring. The Amazon link I provide above shows only one used copy available. I saw this documentary first at an art house movie theater in downtown DC.

It does a good job of taking you through the mindset of radical Islam and is well worth watching if, for nothing else, the scene in the Iraqi mosque in the last few minutes where the crazy-as-batshit imam starts waving a sword around on the pulpit screaming Islam will conquer the world to a frenzied mob of worshippers going nuts. Absolutely bone-chilling. Unless you see that scene and stare these fanatics in the face, you just don’t know what America is up against.

This documentary was only released in a single theater in a handful of cities. It has not been widely seen. I can’t recommend it enough. Every American Should See This Documentary. This is another DVD you should pass around.

Another documentary that Must Be Seen is Steve Emerson’s “Terrorists Among Us – Jihad in America,” which, unfortunately, is only available on VHS not DVD and is out of print. You must order it used, if you can find it. I recommend that you do a pre-order on Amazon, using the link I give you above, and wait for one to become available.

Emerson is a journalist who stumbled across radical Muslims raising money for terror and pitching jihad right here in America, renting banquet halls in big cities to spread their hateful Islam. He found videos for sale of jihad sermons pitched in New York City and elsewhere. This fifth column of jihadis hides in America behind the language barrier, making nice in English while preaching bloody murder in Arabic.

The jihadis who are working to destroy America have been hiding in plain sight right here in America. For Pete’s sake, even Zawahiri came to America to raise money for Al Qaeda. That’s how crazy this situation has become.

There are a lot of good books that can introduce you to the true face of Islam. Most of them are written by Robert Spencer, who has deconstructed the phony claims of the “peaceful and tolerant” Islam with references directly from the Koran, the hadith, and contemporary Muslim sources. Spencer’s “The Truth About Muhammad: Founder of the World’s Most Intolerant Religion” does a pretty good job of binding the revelations and example of Mohammed to current Islamic terrorism. It’s pretty simple to see that the terrorists are just emulating the example of Mohammed. Hijacking airliners is the modern equivalent of Mohammed attacking infidel camel caravans. Islamic snuff videos are the modern equivalent of Mohammed presiding over the public mass beheadings of captive Jews.

However, I recommend as your first book Spencer’s “The Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam (and the Crusades).” It gives you a straightforward rebuttal of many of Islam’s claims and, most of all, introduces you to Islam’s foremost doctrine of expedience: Anything that promotes Islam is good; anything that doesn’t is bad. That justifies anything done in the name of Islam.

However, if you do not watch nor read any of the recommendations above, the single best book that You Must Read This Year is Lawrence Wright’s “The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11.” This book summarizes all the important information about the rise of radical Islam, starting with Sayyid Qutb in Colorado, the formation of Al Qaeda, and the guys in our government fighting them. It neatly combined the vital lessons I’ve read in a dozen books into one tight package which reads like a novel.

It knocks down a lot of myths bandied about as truth in the media. For example, far from being a hero in Afghanistan’s war against the Soviets, Bin Laden did little. The Afghans thought he and his Afghan Arabs were “useless.” Bin Laden isn’t wildly rich, either. He was worth seven million bucks at most and the Saudis cut him off from that when he turned against their king. He probably has an income equivalent to a surgeon’s salary.

All of these would make fine Christmas gifts this year, not only to friends and family interested in current events, but to your high school, college, church, synagogue, and public library. These might be fine gifts to the troops, too.

You can send them to troops in Iraq via Books For Soldiers or the AnySoldier website. Powerline announced that the Counterinsurgency Center at Camp Taji in Iraq is asking for books. You can mail books and other media to:

Lt. Col. Jan Horvath
Headquarters COIN CFE
Camp Taji, Iraq
APO AE 09378

The APO addresses are military postboxes in the USA. You only pay for domestic postage. The military carries them from the US to the troops. You could probably order from Amazon and have it shipped directly to the APO address above.

I’m sure if the COIN Center got too many, they’d find good homes for them where ever our troops find themselves in Iraq. You can sure these books will dozens of readers in the years to come. If you parcel post them within the next two weeks, they will arrive before Christmas.

I understand it’s possible to reverse the surgery now, using a microsurgical technique. Once you’ve healed up, you can start your 50-state tour.

It was C.S. Lewis, of all people, who first made me aware that a man has the desire and the means to populate a small village in a year’s time. He made the observation in the context of saying that most of the other physical desires are ordinate; we may overeat or oversleep a little, but we’ll stop before the activity gets completely out of hand. He spoke of the contrasting, apparent excess of male sexual desire in tones of disapproving moralism. However, when he wrote that a man has the desire and means to populate a small village in a year’s time, he was writing for readers whose villages were already populated.

They MUST go to some form of digital distribution. Pay-per-view, download, Movielink, something. They’ll make a lot more money and many more people will get to see it.

Otherwise, we need a group of wealthy conservative philanthropists worried about the future of the nation to buy the rights and distribute it as widely as possible for free. This is too important to remain largely unseen.

TheBigOldDog on October 29, 2006 at 8:00 PM

Agreed. I finally got my copy and while it didn’t show me anything I hadn’t already run across in my obsessive reading on the subject, it is excellently done and packs quite a whallop.

I saw Obsession when it was up on the net some months ago. Definitely worth seeing. It documents the huge scope of the Islamist threat and connects it irrefutably with aggressive fascist movements of the past. But the people who don’t want to hear this have already decided to forever shut their ears and close their eyes.

I think the enemy is just longing to hear a message of American weakness on November 7, delivered by their friends the Dhimmicrats.

We can see terrorist sniper Marine snuff films on CNN, but the real footage of the first day of WWIII—nope—waaaay toooo inflamatory. Might insight some redneck to snipe a mosque in Michigan, film it, and then show the footage on YOUTUBE. Nope. Can’t have that.
