MK was excellent, very articulate, she came across as "real" and comfortable. I loved the way she wouldn't let them distract her away from the point she needed to make. The zinger on who really has the racial hangups....priceless.

Not her strongest appearance, but it was still an honorable one. She was the one with class, and did get a killer point across. Let's give her some slack as it was her first major appearance on a cable news outlet.

I see big things in her future. :)

she delivered the knockout punch when she blind sided him with her statement that those pointing out the racist content where in fact the real racists

Yeah, it was her best line. It was also her only line. Aravosis dominated that segment.

I'm not trying to beat up on her. I completely support her position. Just like each sports fan has a team they root for, I rooted for her.

But the unfortunate fact is, Aravoisis dominated the clip. Our team didn't win this one.

There will be a next time, and we'll all be in her corner at the rematch.

Very well done, Mary Katherine!

Though the annoyingly aedenoidal CNN chick and Aravosis geek did try to gang up on you, you toughed it out and held your ground.

Brava!

I'm with Viper1 on a weekly Fox "Ham Nation" segment.

Okay, I've viewed the video and I'm really steamed. That was one of the most blatant hit jobs I've ever seen on TV.

Mary Katherine Ham, competent, intelligent, and charming woman that she is, was ganged up upon. She was set up to be the punching bag of John Aravosis. Aravosis, proves (once again) that he is a lying partisan pig, and CNN continues to be the lying partisan assclowns we know them to be.

If they want to deal with unfair political advertising, they could have dealt with the Tammy Duckworth (IL-6) hit job against Peter Roskam.

Her ad opens with some woman claiming to be a school principle, complaining about guns in schools. Says that THE LAW prohibited principals from expelling children who bring guns to school; claiming that they could only suspend them.

FLAT OUT LIE 1.

Principals and school districts have always had the ability to expel students for violating rules or for disciplinary problems.

The ad then goes on an says that when legislation was passed (to give the principals the right to expel), Roskam STOOD WITH THE NRA instead of the children.

FLAT OUT LIE 2.

The NRA has not supported guns in schools beyond supervised events and programs (i.e., competition rifle teams). The NRA created the Eddie Eagle program that has taught tens of thousands of children to leave a gun alone, leave the area, and tell an adult. The NRA has never taken the position that kids should not be expelled for endangering other children by bringing guns to school.

Besides, standing with the NRA, in this humble gun owner's opinion, IS A RATHER GOOD THING and nothing to be ashamed about!

Duckworth (and the Democrats) got a "three-for" with this attack ad. 1. They smeared Roskam. 2. They lied about the NRA's position in order to tie the smear to Roskam. 3. They smeared every law abiding gun owner by implication for daring to oppose gun control and/or supporting the NRA.

And as this ad was SPONSORED by Rep. Rahm Emanuals little slander operation, it proves that the Democrats are STILL anti-gun, and anti-gun owner.

I commend Mary Katherine for her professional and calm responses. I, would have reacted much more angrily.

Next time you see Aravosis, tell him those were gay drums, not jungle drums. And ask him how he feels about some hot Tennessee Democrat Redneck action. :-)

So it wasn't just me. What a screamer, huh? I'd never seen Avarosis before this video, and even my feeble gaydar was sounding a Level 4 Alert.

It was too chaotic to be a "debate". Such segments seem designed to be a free-for-all of talking points without real interaction between the participants. MK tried to interact. Was that a mistake? If it was, maybe I just lament the absence of real debate.

The premise of the segment was "nasty" Republican ads, and it was often 2 vs. 1, innately placing MK on the defensive as she attempted to dispell their assumptions. In spite of this, MK was calm and polite. Too polite? Should she have interrupted or interjected more, like John?

John's talking points seemed more simplistic than MK's, which might have also been a disadvantage for MK due to the nature of the segment.

All in all, I think MK did very well, and I suspect she'll adapt to the various modes of discussion as she gains more experience which is sure to come.

Q: How can you tell when a liberal has realized your substance beats his emotion?

"...the liberal pundits, and bloggers...who hear drums in the back of an ad that are meant to be, y'know sinister, negative music behind the opponent they're running against, and immediately think 'jungle drums', maybe the ones with the racial hangups..."

A: When they talk over you to change topics before you've finished making your point.

"Ok, let's talk homophobia..."

Outstanding, Mary.

It's hard to watch goofs like Aravosis. Completely buoyed by the anchor, he distorted the facts and stole a lot of MKH's time and didn't speak to her reality-based points. What a douche.

MKH,

Congratulations on your national news debut! Even though they outnumbered you 2 to 1, you had more brains than the both of them.

she delivered the knockout punch when she blind sided him with her statement that those pointing out the racist content where in fact the real racists

Yes, that was a great line. I keep wondering, would it have been better if it were a black woman playing the airhead? I suspect that would be labelled racist, too.
