I speculated last night that the pedo passage might have been inspired by some obscure cultural practice Webb observed while he lived in southeast Asia. According to him, that’s exactly what it was.

My wife is from Laos, right next door to Vietnam, she’s never heard of anyone putting penises in their mouths in a non-sexual way. She says it’s a routine practice however, for grown men to buy 11yr old girls from their poor families, it’s also the rave to rape any young girl caught traveling alone and there’s virtually little or no penalty even if one is caught! Because bad or PERVERSE SHIT IS DONE BY people who are little more advanced than savages, does this merit replication, or fancification in fiction? What a bullshit argument. If you don’t think a dick in the mouth is sexual, if you even in any small way give credence to that bullshit argument, open wide and say, “Ahhhhhhh” and we’ll get back to you about your feelings on the NON SEXUAL nature of the event later.

This very well may be, but Islam has an “odd custom” of beheading infidels, and we don’t excuse that. Female genital mutilation is a widespread practice in some African countries and could be considered an “odd custom,” but again…this is NOT accepted here at all. In fact, in Atlanta, there is currently a suspect who is being tried in criminal court accused of cutting off his 2-year-old daughter’s clitoris (female ‘circumcision’) with a pair of freakin’ scissors! It seems this is a “custom” in Ethiopia, where he is from.

BUT, Jim Webb is a sicko. Screw that stuff about some sort of ancient custom. If you write about something like that in a modern book in a style that does not condemn it, you are pretty much condoning it. Read over books that have child abuse in them. Usually you are the child, feeling the pain. Often you cry, even for characters who don’t exist. Jim Webb was not condemning this act. I just watched by video his response, where Webb said it was not a sexual act. Not a sexual act? From who’s perspective?? Why, the father’s, of course. However, it happened on a sexual organ, so any children who may have actually lived through such a “custom” were no doubt just as screwed up as if the father received sexual gratification.

MM, Lynne Cheney may have written about lesbians and Libby may have written about sick sex like bestiality, but NEITHER OF THEM ARE RUNNING FOR OFFICE. All that your bringing Cheney & Libby up as comparison does is give the left yet another pass (at least, in their minds).

Sorry for the long post but this is personal to me. Allen is no longer a presidential contender, but he is my Senator and has been my Governor, and I sure hope he is representing me on Nov. 8. I am glad he fought fire with fire because I think this is going to change some Virginians’ minds about voting for Jim Webb.

Comparing him to Foley is even more ridiculous…that’s like claiming bin Laden and Tom Clancy are moral equivilants because one is a terrorist and the other one writes fictional accounts about terrorists.

Now the Allen campaign releases something I did not even know, and I’m a Virginia resident: James Webb is a porn writer, a great model for our children.

It amazing to me: Allen finally goes on offense and conservatives are whining. No, he should be a nice guy, let liberals make all the rules in campaigns and control the news cycle, not upset Democrats, and lose elections.

I can’t believe AP thinks James Webb’s explanation is reasonable. Yeah, James Webb was in the “slums” of Bangkok as a “journalist.” There are so many fascinating things to see in Bangkok: The Grand Palace, Jim Thompson’s House, boat tours on the river, canal tours, The Teak Palace, great department stores. But James Webb was in the “slums” red light district as a “journalist” sex tourist. Let’s hope nobody votes for this pervert after this news.
