The administration needs to learn a little bit about humility–when you have really f****d things up, maintaining an arrogant attitude only aggravates people, doesn’t change the fact you have f****d things up.

Regular readers know that I thoroughly enjoy exposing the lying and misleading headlines pumped on the Yahoo! home page, which are generally linked to AP stories but often the Yahoo! home page makes up their own lying or misleading headline…….

I respectfully disagree.

Arab society is male driven, macho, and male supremacist. It has been documented that the prisoners at Abu Gharib that were “abused” (i.e., humiliated — which I do not consider either torture or abuse) were mostly hard core insurgents and/or insurgent leaders. What the pictures did is show insurgents and their leaders, macho men who gained respect for fighting the American war machine, humilated by American women — who role in Arab society is supposed to be second class and servile.

These are the same people who kill their wives and daughters if they bring shame on their families. They are people who KILL RAPE VICTIMS for daring to survive to shame their families. They are the ones who order the genital mutilation of their women.

And here they are, led on leashes like dogs (an insulting term to an Arab) by WOMEN — second class citizens, and “infidel whores” to boot! Here they are photographed in HOMOSEXUAL poses.

They have been shamed. And the muslim world knows that they were shamed by AMERICANS — those craven cowards who cut and ran in Mogedishu, as bin Laden likes to remind his troops.

And the muslim world also knows that it was AMERICAN WOMAN — second class citizens, at best — who are powerful enough to humiliate an Iraqi insurgent leader.

Being killed in combat with the infidel gets them martydom. Being captured and not fighting to the death calls out questons about their courage or belief in Allah. Being captured, and being made to pose for cameras in humiliating poses — especially when women are dominating them — not only questions their courage but their fitness to lead. After all, who would want to follow men who let themselves appear to be sucking off other men in a homophobic society, or being led on a leash like a common dog.

These individual insurgents have lost all their power to command respect by NOT KILLING THEMSELVES or by not attacking the guards and being shot down in the process.

This didn’t “demonically refresh” the Jihad. It humiliated the LEADERSHIP of the Jihad in Iraq. Some of their best fighters got sidelined because of it.

And the same thing happened when Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester led a counter attack against insurgents attacking a truck convoy last year, causing the killing of 27 insurgents, wounding 6 and capturing 1.

Hester’s squad was shadowing a supply convoy March 20 when anti-Iraqi fighters ambushed the convoy. The squad moved to the side of the road, flanking the insurgents and cutting off their escape route. Hester led her team through the “kill zone” and into a flanking position, where she assaulted a trench line with grenades and M203 grenade-launcher rounds. She and Nein, her squad leader, then cleared two trenches, at which time she killed three insurgents with her rifle.

She was awarded the Silver Star.

Muslim men, killed by women warriors are not given the martydom treatment by the living. Why? They got BEATEN by women. They got KILLED by women. Infidel women, no less.

They’re not martyrs — they’re FAILURES who can’t even handle American women.

While we will never know with certainty, rather than cost an additional 1000 KIA, Abu Gharib and Sgt. Hester rocked the insurgency leadership back on their heels, and may have prevented US KIAs.

Thanks The Cat, I’m glad I’m not crazy in my thinking here. The ONLY reason we’re “struggling” or whatever you want to call it is because we’re fighting a PC war. We’re being waaaaay to cautious with civilian casualties, etc. It’s certainly noble and I’m not opposed to the “vision” of it, but and I’m not expert, but I just don’t think that this is the way to fight a war. I think you pound the enemy in to submission. We’ll understand it eventually, but not before we’ve had some sort of WMD attack on our own soil and we grow a pair and deal with this the way it needs to be dealt with. Bush and anyone here can choose to say that Islam has been “hijacked” or “perverted” by a few “evil doers”, but I’m sorry… Islam is the root of the problem. PC? No. Right? I believe it’s quite clear. The only reason I have “long run” hope right now, is because I think that somehow we (America) will understand the score before the world looks like it did in the movie The Postman.

For not putting surveillance cameras in Abu Ghraib (as any self-respecting 7-11 has in scads) and for not -at the same time- forbidding personal cameras to be brought into Abu Ghraib, Rumsfeld’s tenure as Secretary of Defense was fatally compromised and shown to be the work of a Psy-ops amateur. He should have been replaced, then and there, with someone who understands that modern warfare is 51% (propaganda-istic) imagery.

We probably lost 1,000 more dead, unnecessarily, and gained a demonically-refreshed global jihadism thanks to that vacuous and asinine ‘little’ prison-rules “oversight”.

i’m with you. it was a long road for me, but i came to understand finally that i was appreciating a secretary of defense for exhibiting the attribuutes i’d like to see in a mayor. he’s f’d it all up and he doesn’t even seem to want to consider his role in it seriously.

…Tet ’68 was also pronounced a “US defeat”, although the Viet Cong were basically destroyed as an effective force during Tet, those pesky infiltrators never got beyond the lobby of the embassy in Saigon, and the whole banana left the Viets gasping. Still, we have that picture of that Viet general summarily executing that weeping VC on camera (there’s a story behind that one, by the way), and style always trumps substance in the MSM.

That leads one to wonder just how “screwed up” it is over in Iraq or Afganistan today. Considering that this part of the world has only ever been stable under folks like Saddam and Assad…it’s gotta be like trying to play cards in a tornado.

War is chaos…the winners manage chaos better, and use it to their advantage more than their opponents. The press hates chaos. It throws off their deadlines.

We were loosing about 1,600 troops per month in Vietnam and we have now been in Iraq for about 42 months. If we were loosing troops at the same rate in Iraq as we were in Vietnam, we would have lost more than 67,000 troops by now. But the fact is, we have only lost slightly over 3,000. That is a huge difference. I hate it when out guys get killed, but they are not dying in vain.

Well rest assured that there is a Lancet study being conducted as we speak to prove that we’ve lost at least 67,000 troops if not a couple million. I suspect the study will be released next week.

And by the way, the reason we’re even losing people is because we’re trying to fight this thing too “nice”. Not to mention that it seems more and more like we’re actually fighting Iran.

They are putting a major hurt on the terrorist forces and they are giving the people of Iraq a chance for freedom. This enemy is not going to stop until they are defeated or we are living under their rule. Americans should stop and think about that. Our troops are willing to do this job, they are not the ones complaining. We should stop all of our sniffing and support them and this war, and let them do their jobs. And send more troops if necessary, and it might be necessary.
