Video: Rosie compares jihad to Nelson Mandela’s anti-apartheid movement

posted at 1:12 pm on October 24, 2006 by Allahpundit

How ignorant on this subject do you have to be to get fact-checked by Tim Robbins?

Ace marks the occasion appropriately.

FYI, the clip begins with TR talking about the character he plays in his new movie — a South African henchman of the ruling apartheid regime.

The anti-apartheid movement did not use suicide bombers. They did not unnessarily kill innocent civilians. They did not use God’s name in vain. They did not use videos to encourage people to kill. In fact, they did not pay anybody for thier actions. The jihadist paid the family of suicide bombers.

Rosie. Rosie–girl–take a critical thinking class, please.

Rosie tried to make the case Lynndie England was folowimg orders ( doing her job )…she was actually just trying to make her sickass boyfriend happy..shas admitted to that. Rosie does this all the time…just spews crap out of her mouth with little or no challenge.

EEprom on October 24, 2006 at 1:23 PM

I don’t care for Tim Robbins, but,as Ace put it, he was smart enough to distance himself from Rosie’s stupid comments. I like the way Joy’s jaw sort of dropped open and Barb tried to say something but she just couldn’t spit it out after that. You can tell by watching these clips that even Barbara is getting slightly agitated by Rosie’s rants. Of course Elizabeth, the only voice of reason, keeps getting drowned out by Rosie’s big mouth.

vcferlita on October 24, 2006 at 1:23 PM

Let’s Play. How many “Key Words” can you spot in this clip?
The whole thing was one big attack… and Tim may have made the distinction between the Terrorist and the Anti-Apartheid movement, but in no way did he defend the U.S. or our troops from the scandalous lies coming from all the girls. In fact he couldn’t wait to add his BS to the mix.

Gwillie on October 24, 2006 at 1:27 PM

I am not so sure he was smart enough to distance himself from it as he knew that there was a reason Barbara sat where she did and wasn’t going to tolerate it. Not to mention the fact that the audience didn’t react the way that would have made him comfortable to to go along with Rosie…

That’s true. I would have expected clapping, but the audience was fairly quiet.

Can she shove her foot any more in her mouth? Her mouth has to be in revolt by now

Defector01 on October 24, 2006 at 1:31 PM

Tim Robbins as voice of reason….wow. Just wow.

The scary thing is, at least half the audience was probably sitting there nodding every time Rosie said something, saying, “Yes, you go girl.” I’m not sure what mental institution they use to stock their studio audience, but they all eat out of the fat pig’s hand whenever she says anything anti-American or pro-terrorist. As nauseating as her remarks are, it’s even worse to hear them applauded by a crowd of people.

The way she interjects inane comments during other people’s talking time kind of reminds me of Cheri Oteri’s old SNL character on “Morning Latte” with Will Ferrell….

World B. Free on October 24, 2006 at 1:31 PM

I wonder how long Rosie’s ‘family’ will be kept together when the Iman finds out the living arrangements?

The clips I see of this show also remind me of the “Amazing Time Savers” SNL skit with Mike Myers and Heather Locklear. Rosie just kind of holds the show captive to her need to be at center.

Rosie wants so badly to be the center of attention that she’ll hijack what someone else is discussing, twist it to the moonbat point of view, and hope, just HOPE that people will get shocked and talk about it. I really believe that if she knew that she was on HA, it’d thrill her to no end.

Has anyone every seen the movie Billy Madison? If you have then you will remember this quote from the high school principal after Billy gave what was a rambling incoherent response. At any rate, it was the first this that popped into my head while watching this…

Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Nelson Mandela early in his life WAS a terrorist! His ANC was a violent reactionary group.
Was only after years in jail that he finally renounced terrorism.

Can someone please show me where Mandela has (unequivocally) denounced terrorism?

Read what Mandela said the week after he delivered his Sadat “peace” lecture (in the wake of the 9-11 attacks) for an example of his typical equivocation;

Terrorism a relative term, former freedom fighter Mandela says

Former South African President Nelson Mandela joked at the United Nations that the word “terrorist” was a relative term and that some people like himself once referred to as terrorists had gone on to become heads of state.

“Those people who (referred) to many of us as terrorists are now dealing with us as members of responsible governments, and therefore terrorism is a relative term,” Mandela, 83, said during a visit to the UN.

“Those people who did not agree with your activities will label you a terrorist. But when you succeed, the same people are prepared to accept you and have dealings with you as a head of state,” he said, smiling.

Mandela spent 27 years in a South African prison for opposing decades of white rule, and his African National Congress was considered by some foreign governments as a “typical terrorist organisation.”

After his release in 1990, he led South Africa to full democracy in all-race elections in 1994. He handed over South Africa’s presidency to Thabo Mbeki in June 1999.

Mandela won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993 for his efforts to dismantle apartheid, sharing the award with then-South African President FW de Klerk.

Since his retirement in 1999, he has taken on the role of elder statesman, helping to negotiate peace in several African countries, although he has slowed down since undergoing treatment for prostate cancer in September.

On Thursday (local time), Mandela visited the ruins of the World Trade Center in New York to offer his condolences to those who died, and appealed for an end to any anti-Muslim sentiment arising from the attack.

With New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani at his side, he was shown the massive excavation work at the “ground zero” site.

“It would not be proper for me to leave the United States of America without coming to see for myself the extent of the destruction that has occurred and the loss of lives of so many innocent and defenseless people,” Mandela said.

He said the US had the support of the world as it recovered from the September 11 attacks.

Mandela praised US President George W Bush’s visit to an Islamic mosque, saying he hoped the attacks “will not lead to the rise of anti-Arab and anti-Muslim feeling because it is not the Arabs, it is not the Muslims who committed this cowardly act.”

During his 20-minute visit to “ground zero,” Mandela signed his name on a board where the scores of nations that lost people in the attack are represented.

Dead Man Walking, which gives both sides of capital punishment a thorough airing, as well as one whose name I can’t remember–he plays a domestic terrorist who appears to be a regular suburban dad–that one was very good, very scary.

I remain puzzled at Barbara W’s taking the risk of bringing Rosie onto The View. Short term ratings gain perhaps, but geez leeweeze, who needs this headache?

BacaDog on October 24, 2006 at 3:00 PM

I know what my Halloween costume is gonna be this year. Well, first I’d better price 10 yds. of black velvet.

The ANC didn’t kill innocents? Tell the survivors of the untold numbers of people killed by ANC supporters by the hideously brutal practice of “necklacing.” That’s where the victim has his hands tied behind him with barbed wire, then a petrol filled tyre placed around his neck and set ablaze. Winnie Mandela (another murderer) once stated that (paraphrasing) with enough tyres and petrol, we’ll win this revolution.

Of course, Rosie ignores that the South Africa of today is a nightmare for most. White farmers mutilated and slaughtered every night, huge numbers of rapes (many victims children), many by AIDS afflicted morons supposedly believing that sex with a virgin will cure them.

As the silence by liberals on the slaughter of Khmer and Vietnamese that followed our bail out on Vietnam illustrated, all that’s important to liberals is looking good to their little clique of like minded idiots. They go on smug and self-satisfied that they did good (please notice that they did good), and don’t want to be bothered by trivial points such as their stance likely caused horror and death.

Also, A salute to x95b10 and Limerick for their service in the military. Hoo-ah!

allie on October 24, 2006 at 3:31 PM

Um, Rosie, you’re forgetting that the ANC leader Winnie Mandela, the now ex-spouse of Nelson, advocated the use of the torturous death of necklacing to kill innocent civilians. Here’s an excerpt from Wikipedia:

“The practice became a common method of lethal lynching during South Africa’s national liberation struggle of the 1980s and 1990s. Necklacing sentences were sometimes handed down against alleged criminals by “people’s courts” established in black townships as a means of circumventing the apartheid judicial system. Necklacing was also used to punish offenders, including children, alleged to be traitors to the liberation movement, as well as their relatives and associates. The practice was frequently carried out in the name of the African National Congress (ANC), and was even endorsed by Winnie Mandela, wife of the imprisoned Nelson Mandela and a senior member of the ANC, although the ANC officially condemned the practice.”

On a different tack, I just don’t get how such a staunch feminist woman like O’Donnell can sympathize with radical Islamists, such as the Taliban, whose view of women is as a submissive, utterly powerless, uneducated, illiterate class wholly beholden to men. How blind or stupid can one woman be?

AlexHamilton on October 24, 2006 at 3:33 PM

How blind or stupid can one woman be?

Blinded by hatred……….of Bush.

Recurring theme of the Libs, Alex. Their core beliefs matter until, well….they don’t. I know that is a generalization, but, for example, the feminists were silent with Slick Willie as a means to an end. Likewise, Rosie either hasn’t made the connection about how women are treated in the Islamic realm, or she has and just doesn’t give a crap because 1)it will never happen here and 2)She hates Bush.

Interesting way to view the world, isn’t it?

Now back to our regular programming…………

No one’s studio audience can match The Daily Show’s in over-exuberance. It is the only program I think that I have ever seen where the audience cheers applauds the questions (asked by Stewart of his guests) before having heard the answer. If someone knows of another instance of this phenomenon, let me know. Just watch it, if you can take it, and see if I’m lying.
They must have to squeegee up the slobber off the studio floor after each taping, from all the foaming at he mouth sycophants that make up his audiences.
Stewart, and even Colbert (who has his own program now)get off a good one now and then, but it ain’t all that. Speaking of Comedy Central, how is it that they get away with such vulgar language without being a “premium” channel? I’m far from prudish, I just wonder why they’re given such free rein, in this age of FCC scrutiny.

[sigh] This thread highlites the most obsurd strategic war error of the last 100 years: naming this conflict the War on Terror.

As much as I dislike flying airplanes into buildings, it’s the cause of those guiding the death-bots that I support taking up arms against. Otherwise, wouldn’t all of us “Hot Air Heads” be calling for the decimation of the New York Yankees?

The Bush Administration is finally dropping the misleading phrase, “stay the course.” I can only pray they’ll use this catch phrase spring cleaning momentum to drop the WoT as well.

Back in college I went to some tapings of The Daily Show. It was before Jon Stewart became a cult icon of the left. Being conservative, I didn’t find his schtick quite as humorous as my liberal friends did, but it was bearable. Now, Stewart could flick a booger on someone and his audience would go crazy thinking it was the wittiest thing ever.

Are you allowed to “boo” if you’re in The View’s audience? I don’t think I could sit there and be quiet through all of their crap. Rosie is definitely the worst, but the others aren’t much better (poor Elizabeth). I get so sick of them shouting Elizabeth down and then, if Elizabeth even raises her voice they act like she’s taking it too personally and needs to chill.

I wonder how long Rosie will last. On the one hand, she’s alienating people that even marginally agree with her. On the other, she’s really firing up that core audience that will swear by every word she says. I don’t understand why they don’t get sick of her looking at them like a dried up old school marm and bobbing her head up and down as she explains “how things are” to them.

I’d LOVE to see Rosie in a burqa!

One other point:

Just because some people misappropriate a word does not mean that it is inappropriate in all instances.

Specifically, the fact that people called members of the ANC terrorists (which, if people bother studying history anymore, many of them were) does not have any bearing on whether or not people are correctly being labeled terrorists today.

JadeNYU on October 24, 2006 at 5:33 PM

Do they actually make burquas large enough for her? And how many dB of dampening do those veils provide?

The islamists are not worried about sound dampening. They would just pull out her tounge.

I know that I’m gilding the lilly when I say that Rosie has shit for brains.

EEprom brings up Lyndie England. And that brings up an interesting point.

Larry Schweikart, in his book America’s Victories: Why the U.S. Wins Wars and Will Win the War on Terror, point out that as abhorant as the Abu Gharib was to the Democrats and the professional America-haters at the UN, the effect on the insurgency was devastating.

The silly liberals, in their constant grovelling for respect from our enemies, are abject with shame of what was little more than frat plege hazing, mostly.

However, the male/macho dominated Arab male (the same culture which embraces honor killings and clitorectomies to keep their women in line), is powerless to deal with the fact that an INFIDEL WOMAN HUMILIATED THE INSURGENCY’S LEADERSHIP, and that the photographs were printed in newspapers around the world.

Schweikart’s thesis is that these Iraqi men are no longer part of the insurgency leadership, and that they are effectively boxed out of power by being humiliated by (1) a woman, and (2) an AMERICAN woman. In otherwords, Lyndie England, unconsciously, provided a body-check that immobilized some of the worst individuals that are fighting for the enemy in Iraq.

A similar tale unfolded when Sgt. Leigh Ann Hester of the 617th Military Police Company, a National Guard unit out of Richmond, Ky., a woman, led the counterattack against terrorists attacking a truck convoy on 20 March 2005, resulting in the deaths of 27 dead terrorists, six wounded, and capture of 1, and also resulting in the award of the Silvar Star to Sgt. Hester.

Being killed in battle (a “man-only thing” to the 7th Century mindset they have) by a WOMAN in such a macho culture humiliates the dead “holy warriors” (now relegated to the status of limp-dicks and/or eunichs in their culture) rather than granting them posthumous martydom, the 72 virgins, etc.

If you want to ruin a Jihadi supporter’s day, ask him how he believes Allah would react to the knowledge that holy warriors of his are getting slaughtered by infidel AMERICAN WOMEN warriors or humiliated by being forced to wear a dog collar on a leash held by an infidel AMERICAN woman.

In war, the goal is to defeat the enemy by force of arms or by any other means that weakens his will and ability to fight. Either killing them, or humiliating them such that they are impotent as leaders of the insurgency is one such means.

Rather than apologize to whore mongering traitorous murders like Ted Kennedy, or to “The International Community” — the international leftist America-hating coalition and the UN, Rumsfeld should have said that humiliation of the insurgency’s leadership when captured has become official policy, and that the rules of engagement would be amended accordingly.

Or, to put it more succinctly: FEAR US. FEAR OUR WOMEN. And pray that they do not come after YOU.

That’s torture georgej – we shouldn’t be doing that.

I never thought I’d see a discussion involving Tim Robbins where he is actually more moderate than another person in the room.

What is Rosie O’Donnell’s problem? Another “Blame America first” liberal to the extreme.

I like how she just blurts out “Lynndie England” in the conversation as if she knows what the heck she’s talking about.

Rosie, stick to bit parts in crappy films and inhaling entire pies and leave the political takes to people with a clue. Thanks in advance. Man she sucks.

Moral relativists like Rosie O have no freaking shame. None.

SisterToldjah on October 24, 2006 at 6:40 PM

I would come to Rosie’s defense and claim that she’s been stuck in character since she did Riding the Bus with My Sister but that would be an insult to the mentally challenged.

Her little “lifestyle” will go over like a turd in the punchbowl when the Jihadis take the beach at Malibu.

seejanemom on October 24, 2006 at 7:07 PM

The only reason rosie’s on this show is to cause controversy. The ratings are up just because peaple want to see what stupid thing will come out of her mouth next. Besides, who watches this show really? As for these audiences, the worst by far is Bill Maher’s HBO show, which is a total ambush for any conservative.

bmac on October 24, 2006 at 7:25 PM

How can you eat your heart out from envy and hate with your foot in your mouth?
Do just like Rosie…keep on chew’n.

Speakup on October 24, 2006 at 7:30 PM

x95 and Lime, thanks for your service, we are free to have this conversation because of people like you guys. Me, well, I was never in the military, but I WAS in the AIR FORCE! BWAHhahahhhaaaa

As to the question of Who would they go after first, that’s easy, the WEAKEST among us. We have 1,300 years of history that shows how they prey on the weak, just like the playground bully who can’t fight someone his own size and picks on the little kid with coke bottle glasses.
