These fools will say anything to get elected. I’m praying for a runaway streetcar accident.

Ha – the impeachment trial will be glorious – not to mention all the other congressional hearings about Iraq, Katrina, energy policy, etc. Keep defending your pitiful wars, Patriots.

BigB on October 23, 2006 at 12:21 AM

What’s that smell?

bbz123 on October 23, 2006 at 12:22 AM

Whatever! Who can possibly trust the Dems who will say anything at this point to win elections? We know very well they are chomping at the bit to “uncover” anything to get a Dem (dim) elected President in ’08.

thedecider on October 23, 2006 at 12:28 AM

There are lies, d—-d lies and Pelosi lies.

Entelechy on October 23, 2006 at 12:35 AM

It’s amazing how all that post 2004 election hate has just evaporated.
It is also nice to know we’re all now headed for the nirvana politic.

What I don’t get is, in a very tight election year, why an obvious advantage like enforcing immigration laws seems have been ignored by the GOP to a large extent.

Perhaps the GOP is hunkering down to wait for the new majority.

Speakup on October 23, 2006 at 12:43 AM

that’s all you’ve got, bbz123?

BigB on October 23, 2006 at 12:43 AM

The warped thing about this clip is that she says they won’t impeach, they will be happy to make the President powerless. So Nancy Pelosi would be perfectly willing to leave the country rudderless in the middle of a global ideological struggle just to sit in the speaker’s chair. It’s Republicans they claim are power mad. right?

RW_theoriginal on October 23, 2006 at 12:46 AM

Dateline, mid 2007:
Pelosi quote of the day: “I did not help organize the impeachment of that President…….George W. Bush.”

jarhead05 on October 23, 2006 at 12:46 AM

A small key of information I left out of my last post is that the very question posed only has any relevance if the left wins as they think they will.

jarhead05 on October 23, 2006 at 12:55 AM

“global ideological struggle” – good grief…

Go on believing the Book of Revelations, just keep it out of politics and my life.

BigB on October 23, 2006 at 12:58 AM

… whatever, dude. Give me one example where religion has entered politics in the last 6 years, or any religion has infringed upon your life, whatsoever.

That is, of course, if you don’t count 9/11, Madrid, the London bombings, Bali, et al.

Khobar Towers. USS Cole. WTC ’93.

Yeah, no ideological struggle going on here. Move along people.

yo on October 23, 2006 at 1:09 AM

BigB;
Do you not acknowledge that fanatic islamists want to kill Americans and our way of life? Have they not proclaimed their intentions redundantly? It seems to me that a global (worldwide) ideological(thought process/belief) struggle (war on terror) seems to wrap it up pretty well. It has nothing to do with The Bible. So, christain teachings aren’t the problem here.

jarhead05 on October 23, 2006 at 1:14 AM

Yeah yeah and George H Bush said “Read My Lips, No New Taxes”…

RW_theoriginal on October 23, 2006 at 1:30 AM

Pelosi is lying through her capped, limousine liberal teeth.

Within 72 hours, the impeachment bill will be filed in the house, sent to committee and the 1st hearsing held.

But here is where it all goes south for the Treason Party’s plans. They need a SUPERMAJORITY in the US Senate to remove him from office. They won’t get it. Bush will be acquited and serve out his term.

georgej on October 23, 2006 at 1:34 AM

And the press keeps on “suggesting” a Democrat takeover;

GOP Loses Could Spark Partisan Warfare

As if everything has been rosy, peaceful and “non-partisan?

LewWaters on October 23, 2006 at 1:38 AM

There are lies, d—-d lies and Pelosi lies.

I’d say that’s statistically accurate.

Pelosi is lying through her capped, limousine liberal teeth.

I dunno. But I’m not sure she’ll be able to stop all the payback even if she really wants to. RW_theoriginal’s take seems the most plausible to me:

… they will be happy to make the President powerless. So Nancy Pelosi would be perfectly willing to leave the country rudderless in the middle of a global ideological struggle just to sit in the speaker’s chair.

I wrote this speech for Chairwoman Pelosi several months ago. It is scheduled to be delivered within seven days of the installation of the House Committee chairs:

“Although I had initially stated that I could not support Representative Conyers’ call for the impeachment of President Bush, after today’s shocking revelation that [xfhsudh jkhf nchuf], I can no longer, in good conscience, stand in opposition to this process. I am here, therefore, to announce that Chairman Conyers has scheduled hearings in the Judiciary Committee which will allow us to proceed with our extremely difficult charge – but nonetheless our solemn duty – to remove this President for his high crimes and misdemeanors. I will now take a few questions. Yes, David Gregory…”

eeyore on October 23, 2006 at 9:41 AM

After September 11, John Edwards was asked, if Iraq, Saudi Arabia and other countries came into the equation, including possibly going to war with them, if the Democrats would stand behind Bush and would continue to stay united with the Republicans. His answer was YES.

americanpundit on October 23, 2006 at 9:50 AM

Pelosi takes the typical Democratic stance, of not taking a stance. Instead of pandering to the Right (whose vote the Dems can forget about anyway), she should be blaring that investigation trumpet as loud as she can. Rally her party, and those on the sidelines, with promises of investigations, not “pledges” that they are off the table.

Typical bullshit from Pelosi and co.

GregH on October 23, 2006 at 10:02 AM

Guys, try not to feed the trolls. They are pretty worthless, and do nothing to progress any dialogue.

Ban dog owners from having dogs
Ban ALL smoking in public
Vote FOR the CA prop to impeach the President
Disregard the law and allow Gay marrages
Allow naked people to march down Polk street and ban ‘Merry Christmas’
Disregard the law and allow the open sale of Marijuana

No San Francisco would NEVER do any of those things…really……TRUST ME

JackM on October 23, 2006 at 10:50 AM

Oh honey, I caught on long ago.

I have a time saving tip: instead of going to the trouble of posting what people have done or said, just post the name: Pelosi, Teddy, Hillary. Stand back, let the venom flow. Sort of like that old prison gag, where the jokes are numbered and someone just yells out “41″ and everyone starts laughing.

honora on October 23, 2006 at 11:28 AM

GregH: I think the reason she doesn’t “blare the investigatons trumpet” is because she knows that that tactic will appeal only to those who are already solid Democratic voters. The folks in the middle are less interested in assigning blame for past mistakes and more interested in finding solutions to present problems. Talk of endless investigations will signal voters that the next two years won’t be about getting things right, but revenge. That doesn’t strike me as a winning formula.

As for impeachment, I think Pelosi is right again, and for the same reason. Impeachment talk sounds like payback for Clinton (either that or like red meat for the Moore-Sheehan-Kos faction, hardly the people Pelosi wants front-and-center is she’s to be taken seriously), and while that may be emotionally satisfying for some on the left, it’s a political loser with the moderate voters who hold the key to elections.

Nancy Pelosi: Anatomy of a Trainwreck
By Joseph Klein
FrontPageMagazine.com | October 9, 2006

“Pelosi has also supported outright amnesty for illegal workers, including granting citizenship status to 500,000 illegal workers in the agriculture industry. Indeed, Nancy Pelosi has a special affection for illegal aliens, no doubt thinking how liberalized entry for poor migrant workers could help in staffing the non-union vineyards that Pelosi and her multi-millionaire husband own in Napa Valley. Pelosi, the ardent advocate for labor causes, apparently has chosen not to hire members of the United Farm Workers to pick her vineyard grapes while at the same time she has chosen to sell those grapes to non-union wineries. She has an obvious conflict of interest every time that she votes on an immigration security bill because she and her husband personally benefit from the influx of cheap labor without whom “ not one bottle of wine would get made here,” according to a farm worker advocate with Napa Valley Community Housing. Is Pelosi looking out for her own financial interests, calculating how a law imposing strict penalties on employers of illegal aliens might affect her vineyard business instead of focusing on how porous borders will affect the security of everyday American citizens?”

right2bright on October 23, 2006 at 11:39 AM

It’s nothing but a long revenge kick for the dimocraps. the ONLY reason they want to really impeach Bush is because of Clinton’s impeachment.

Can you really say to yourself that the dimz have our best interest at heart? Of course not.

Compared to Constantine, BigB and GregH, Honora is the soul of probity and clearly resident of the objective sideral reality that the rest of us live in.

Constantine, BigB and GregH, on the other hand, clearly reside in the Moonbat Alternate Reality.

We can wave at them across the shimmering energy curtain that separates their universe from ours, and they can wave back, and sometime we can even hear goobldygook and other nonsense noises from them, but no other MEANINGFUL communication with them is possible. Ever.

That is just the way it is…..

The best favor we can do for Nancy Pelosi is to not give her the chance to go back on her word: this can be accomplished by not giving in to defeatist rhetoric, voting on Nov. 7, and retaining control of the House.

In the alternative, accepting for sake of argument that control of the house changes (I actually heard a radio news announcer refer to Pelosi as the “majority” leader this morning, so the chickens are already being counted), we can count on Pelosi to be true to her word – initially.

For first would come the long line of eagerly anticipated investigations, hearings and subpoenas, spearheaded by people like Charlie Rangel. Once a critical mass of Bush-as-Nixon hysteria is reached with the help of the major media, then we’d see Pelosi “having to bow under pressure to the will of the people” and go along with impeachment.

So her earlier words, at least in theory, wouldn’t be a lie.

It’d come as no surprise if at about the same time Hillary would be “compelled to accede to popular demand” and announce that – after much soul-searching – she’s decided to run for president in 2008.

Spurius Ligustinus on October 23, 2006 at 2:16 PM

Do as I say, not as I do – Pelosi on unions and the environment:

The California Democrat claims to be a staunch union supporter, and along with her husband has received the Cesar Chavez award from the United Farm Workers union.

Unions are, in her words, “fighting for America’s working families” and battling “the union-busting, family-hurting” Bush administration. But Schweizer has uncovered that the $25 million Northern California vineyard the Pelosis own is a non-union shop!

Schweizer writes: “Welcome to Hypocrisy Central.”

But Pelosi’s hypocrisy doesn’t stop there.

The congresswoman is the top recipient among members of Congress in campaign contributions from labor unions, and has received more money from the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees International Union than any other member of Congress in the last several election cycles.

But in addition to the wine business, the Pelosis own a large stake in the exclusive Auberge du Soleil hotel in Rutherford, Calif.

The hotel has more than 250 employees, but once again, Schweizer found, it is strictly a non-union shop.

The Pelosis are also partners in a restaurant chain called Piatti, which has 900 employees.

“But a union card is not required to work there bussing tables, washing dishes, serving guests or preparing food,”.

“As with Auberge du Soleil, at Piatti the Pelosis’ commitment to organized labor ends at the front door.” Pelosi has also demonstrated hypocrisy on the environment.

“With us,” she proclaims, “the environment is not an issue – it’s an ethic. It’s a value.”

That’s what she says. We uncovered what she does: One of her largest investments is a private partnership called Lions Gate Limited, which operates the CordeValle Golf Club and Resort in San Martin, Calif.

To get a permit to build the facility, the partners promised to build a “public course” providing considerable access to non-members, and to abide by several environmental requirements to ensure that there would be minimal ecological damage.

But after the facility opened, the county’s Planning Commission found that the golf course was in fact private – and the club had “ignored” many of its permit requirements concerning the environment.

Do as I say, not as I do – Pelosi on unions and the environment:

There is no way an impeachment would get through the Senate, even if the Senate does change hands, there won’t be enough dem’s to vote impeachment. Mrs P is trying to sound like she has a choice here, but in truth it is not up to her.

boru on October 23, 2006 at 4:18 PM

She also said on “Meet the Press” that her family is pro life.

Next she will say that they are extremely religious and that they don’t like gay marriage, just unions and equal benefits. She might even say that she won’t be for higher taxes, bef. Nov. 7, 2006.
