Right-wingers prank DNC donations page

posted at 3:14 pm on October 23, 2006 by Allahpundit

Funny enough that even some of the DUers are laughing at it.

I captured the top post in the thread for posterity just in case they remove the thread. Click below for larger size, or just follow the previous link. One of the DUers finally figured out how they did it.

Note to Howard Dean: you might want to require a credit card number before allowing people to post pledge messages.

That was Great! The VRWC lives!

DannoJyd on October 23, 2006 at 3:28 PM

That is genius! I think everyone should take advantage of this bug and submit bogus matching pledges from other famous figures. Chavez, Saddam, Kim Jong Il. Try to get all of the America haters promising to match pledges at the DNC.

corbettw on October 23, 2006 at 3:30 PM

My prediction: more black face on the way!

The pledge page is still up- Hilarious!

Valiant on October 23, 2006 at 3:36 PM

hilarious

Defector01 on October 23, 2006 at 3:37 PM

Corbettw, I am certain that no true conservative would ever admit to doing that as it would be in bad taste to do so, and quite foolish as well.

I wonder who the head of NAMBLA is today …

Don’t forget Fidel Castro from the dead death-bed.

shooter on October 23, 2006 at 3:58 PM

Funny because it’s true.

Citizen Duck on October 23, 2006 at 3:40 PM

Yep. Sad but true. If I was a Democrat, I’d be disgusted and ashamed that ALL of America’s enemies are rooting for the same people I am. Then again, my ability to feel disgust and shame over things like that pretty much prevents me from being a Democrat.

ReubenJCogburn on October 23, 2006 at 4:06 PM

They make it easy by supplying a link to, “Click here if you’d like to make another pledge …”.

OK. I am now seriously LMRIAO here. Hahaha…

DannoJyd on October 23, 2006 at 4:06 PM

…my ability to feel disgust and shame over things like that pretty much prevents me from being a Democrat.

The exact thing led both my wife and I to check the “decline to state” box under party affiliation and fill-in “Democratic” as our former party affiliation when we re-registered to vote after moving this summer!

Citizen Duck on October 23, 2006 at 4:09 PM

Kim Jong Il just made a pledge.

Kim Jong Il just made a pledge

I’m sure he really has – after all, he did get an autographed Michael Jordan basketball from the Dems a few years ago.

Rick on October 23, 2006 at 4:12 PM

Not only that, the Dems also gave him 500,000 gallons of fuel oil, 2 light water reactors, and absolute carte blanche as far as developing a nuclear weapons program.

I guess Olberdouche will be talking about how the evil (worst people in the world) conservatives have hijacked the DNC donations page – and somehow link it to a big conspiracy that originated at the White House – this must be investigated. Damn culture of corruption!!

Rick on October 23, 2006 at 4:42 PM

Kim Jong Il just made a pledge

Why fill in names of people they admire?

Rush Limbaugh just made a pledge. Samuel Alito and John Roberts are on tap.

ttsail on October 23, 2006 at 5:13 PM

Just a few thoughts

Perhaps Al Frankin pledged so as to have a chance to get the millon bucks owed to him from Air UnAmerica.

Rush would pledge as he supposedly needs democrats to stay the #1 listened to radio host.

Ann Coulter would pledge as the liberals assist her in making the #1 NYT best seller list so often.

NAMBLA would pledge as it helps to get their members in as Scout Masters.

Republican members of Congress would pledge as their liberal counterparts make them look good.

DannoJyd on October 23, 2006 at 5:35 PM

That is funny stuff,I’m sure he/she/it was expecting a much more sympathetic message.

With all his Democrat friends/enablers, Kim won’t have to be so ronery.

ReubenJCogburn on October 23, 2006 at 6:51 PM

The funniest part is when they realize there are no matching pledges because the system is fatally flawed. Pledges from Democrats are as useless as condoms at a Star Trek convention.

Valiant on October 23, 2006 at 6:54 PM

It is very funny. But I have to wonder, guys, if making the fake submissions is doing something illegal or unethical. If it turns off people who otherwise would have donated, and does so using falsehoods, does it amount to fraud or some such? I hope not, because I think it’s so funny.

mikeyboss on October 23, 2006 at 7:02 PM

mikeyboss,

No, it doesn’t amount to any sort of fraud. It is no more illegal than spamming the comments section of this website would be. The DUmmies who scripted that payment form didn’t do a very good job, that is all.

tommy1 on October 23, 2006 at 7:08 PM

to think i was just deleting those emails without even considering how i could abuse them for leaving me on their mailing list.

jummy on October 23, 2006 at 7:10 PM

Anyone want to bet which MSM outlet this shows up on first?

I can see the lead now….

“Republican bloggers vandalize Democratic website. Attempting to supress contributions” “Senator Clinton calls for congressional investigation”

Now, back to Hardball and Chris Matthews………

I am Bacadog and I support this message.

BacaDog on October 23, 2006 at 7:13 PM

Also works exceptionally well with those bleeding-ass PUBLIC TELEVISION beg-a-thons. We got together—- at least twelve of us young college conservatives–and SO screwed up thier gig one Spring Fund Drive. Some were at home and called in “pledges”. Then we had a couple gals “volunteering” in the studio. This was before the days of computer entries. We shitcanned whole stacks of pledge forms—-the GLEE—the GLEE—then we all went out and ate big steak dinners and smoked cigars.

seejanemom on October 23, 2006 at 7:50 PM

Jo Mama made a pledge!!!

Jared_MA on October 23, 2006 at 8:59 PM

Here’s mine:

“Ola! Thank you for your support! Together we shall destroy America and let either Islamofascism or Communism reign! What a great day for the world when America burns. Support the Democrats, or it will never happen!

Salami lickem, or, whatever.”

Kevin M on October 23, 2006 at 9:26 PM

even OJ made a pledge… wow, they got so much support over there!!!

Jared_MA on October 23, 2006 at 9:27 PM

How about Ima Aho, or Ivana heptheterrorists, or how about Bill Melater!…..lol

ekuspa40 on October 23, 2006 at 9:56 PM

Wait a minute, I didn’t examine this that closely, but it appears to me that this isn’t a case of hacking or anything like that, just another simple mistake by the Dean lead DNC to allow these “pledge” forms, where no credit card number is required? Am I understanding this correctly? If so, this is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in some time. Possibly worse than Howard Dean’s campaign to “knock on doors” and “show up at picnics” to spread the message (which as far as I can tell is “we hate Bush”).

RightWinged on October 23, 2006 at 10:24 PM

Isn’t donations from foreign sources illegal?

Oh well, Whu flung Pu and Harry Paritestys should donate.

91Veteran on October 23, 2006 at 11:32 PM

So tentative. I love the way some of them cautiously venture the idea that the prank was funny. They don’t go too far; they want to be sure they have permission to laugh before they actually crack a smile.

Kralizec on October 23, 2006 at 11:52 PM

Hugo Chaves el Presidente in Venezuela Just made a donation. He also offered free oil for a lifetime to the matching donor.

InstantNemesis on October 24, 2006 at 12:15 AM

Yes, Rightwinged, you are correct. It is just a case of poor scripting from whoever programmed the DNC’s contribution form, not of fradulent behavior.

tommy1 on October 24, 2006 at 12:18 AM

And Howard Dean wanted to be president. He should have consulted Al Gore about this whole intrewebnet thing all the kids are using these days. As a web developer all I can say is how sad. They still have not fixed it. I and everyone associated with that page would have been fired from a real job.

InstantNemesis on October 24, 2006 at 12:23 AM

Very funny. :-) But would-be prankers beware: this is likely a violation of your ISP’s terms of service, and may even be illegal in your area.

I’m just saying… if it were my site, I’d be reporting those IP addresses to your ISP. Of course, if it were my site, I would have thought through the ramifications of an open “pledge” system.

Mark Jaquith on October 24, 2006 at 12:40 AM

I am laughing out loud.

Bob's Kid on October 24, 2006 at 12:41 AM

Mark Jaquith is right.

And we can’t exactly complain about Democrats defacing and vandalizing Republican websites, now can we?

georgej on October 24, 2006 at 2:24 AM

Rather than realizing their own ineptness, I’m guessing they will blame the vast right wing conspiracy and call for new laws to stop this heinous ‘joking’. A tax will have to be levied of course to cover the cost of enforcing the new law…

Kevin M on October 24, 2006 at 3:53 AM

Well we can complain georgej, if the vandalizing of GOP sites by libs is done by hacking or other illegal means. This is just carelessness by Dems that allowed this to happen.

Of course, if it were my site, I would have thought through the ramifications of an open “pledge” system.

Mark Jaquith on October 24, 2006 at 12:40 AM

I suspect virtually anyone would. Though instead of dropping Howard Dean and ridding the DNC of the source of their failures, at worst they may scold whoever is personally responsible for this. I sure hope so, because Howard Dean is a gift that keeps on giving (though you’ll notice they keep him locked up for extended periods of time now, because he’s done them so much damage in the past).

RightWinged on October 24, 2006 at 4:23 AM

Liberals regularly get away with publishing outright lies. I don’t see this prank as being actionable. Besides, it is too tasty to resist. ;o)

DannoJyd on October 24, 2006 at 7:41 AM

If you donate a penny, it will cost them more to process the transaction then they will make.

RightWired on October 24, 2006 at 9:29 AM

The end is coming…the end is coming…we are all honoring a geek, they are becoming cool. All hail to the conservative geeks.

right2bright on October 24, 2006 at 10:53 AM

After seeing that matching donation, I think even Bill Clinton made another donation…for old time’s sake.

camelot573 on October 24, 2006 at 1:45 PM

Harry Reid is matching to the 10th power.

StusBeef on October 24, 2006 at 2:12 PM
