I won’t, or maybe I will, back down

Lil Kim says he’s sorry:

North Korea’s leader is reportedly regretting his country’s nuclear test.

A South Korean newspaper reports Kim Jong II told a Chinese delegation that “he is sorry about the nuclear test.”

He also said Pyongyang would return to international nuclear talks if the United States backs off a campaign to financially isolate the country.

That “campaign to financially isolate the country” is aimed at stopping North Korea from attacking the US by counterfeiting our money and using that currency both to buy hardware and to diminish worldwide faith in the dollar. I doubt we’ll back off that campaign. So his apology isn’t as heartfelt as it might appear at first. It’s a softer version of more of the same.

Nevertheless, it does seem that China is putting pressure on Kim to behave himself, and, according to SecState Rice, sent him a “strong message” by joining the UN resolutions against North Korea. We’ll see.

Democrats and, according to one very suspect poll 70% of Americans, want the US to chat up Kim under the misimpression that he’s a reasonable man who can be reasoned with.

I guess that’s why he puts the disabled into concentration camps. Because he’s reasonable.

So very, very reasonable.

Watch that first link and think to yourself–”That Bush is such a warmonger.” Click on that second link while you can–Kim’s agents or liberal Democrats may get those videos banned from YouTube. They’ll just call it “hate speech.”

At least we can all be safe knowing that Kim Jong-Il isn’t a dictator. You know, like Bush is.

Every story of Lil Kim should include this clip from Team America
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YDuyJrJCKqw

I think 70% of Americans forget that we already talked to Kim once and we gave him 2 nuclear reactors after he promised not to process any more fuel rods. He already lied once to us. The media does a terrible job of reminding people of the history of these things.

lorien1973 on October 20, 2006 at 10:59 AM

he is sorry about the nuclear test

Cry me a river Kim.

vcferlita on October 20, 2006 at 11:15 AM

Kim is sorry (I doubt it), but is Mz. Albreight?

SouthernGent on October 20, 2006 at 11:21 AM

I just KNEW Li’l Kim wasn’t a dictator. (Be sure to check out the video. It reminds me of the height of 1980′s Soviet propaganda films!)

Brian on October 20, 2006 at 11:26 AM

We’ve almost won this thing. If we can keep putting pressure on him, he’ll sit down and shut up. Even one more mention of a nuclear test will result in Kim having to seek employment elsewhere. China is getting fed up.

(Hmm, sorry if this is a doublepost. I’m not sure what happened to my previous comment.)

Check out what the DPRK is saying about their Generalissimo.

Quite predictable: he’s playing the same game he always plays.

Muslihoon on October 20, 2006 at 12:41 PM

They probably threatened to cut off the food shipments.

China is literally feeding his party supporters and his military.

Kristopher on October 20, 2006 at 12:42 PM

The only reason he’s sorry is because his program isn’t up to snuff yet. Once he has a successful test he’ll just laugh in everyone’s face.

davalf on October 20, 2006 at 12:50 PM

Do it the Democrat way and hand him a pile of cash and other things to get an empty promise or do it Bush’s way, include China and the other nations in the area and actually get something done.
Hmmmm…..

conservativecaveman on October 20, 2006 at 12:59 PM

China is finaly stepping up to the plate instead of sidestepping around behind the UN.
Which would have happened a long time ago were it not for the UN putting the onus on America for a solution.

The one downside to China laying the smackdown on Kimmie is that he has to ‘lose face’ to accomplish a non nuke Korea and that’s not something an egomaniac will ever forget.
And we shouldn’t either.

Except of course if it doesn’t work. In which case, it’s back to being Clinton’s fault. (Review the rules: all good things are Bush’s doing; all bad things are Clinton’s doing.)

…hate speech is anything that speaks out against terrorism.

From Bryan’s Newsbuster.org link – …and ‘hate speech is also anything that speaks for the U.S.’

An independent equivalent of YouTube is needed, not a conservative one, just an independent and free one. Let those who don’t like something, not view it. Techies identify yourselves and we’ll start a drive for investments, here.

“Listen, little twerp, have you forgotten who your only life-support is? You f–k with our Taiwan and greater Asian- and World-desires, we’ll execute you Ceausescu-style”.

Sheer insanity or super BDS: blame Mr. Bush for being recalcitrant and going it alone and then blame him for wanting 6-party talks, after 1:1s completely failed and agreements were betrayed.

Question of the times – where the h–l is Ms. Albright? No spotting of her blathering on TV lately…

I bet it was something like, “Shut up you idiot; the Americans are gonna arm Japan to the teeth if you don’t start behaving!”

Try to catch the repeat of the Daily Show from yesterday. Very funny bit on Kim.

honora on October 20, 2006 at 1:29 PM

Once bitten, twice shy. Why people cannot fathom common sense is beyond my comprehension.

Looks as if keeping China in the negotiations is working, but don’t expect anyone to credit President Bush for that.

World Public Opinion dot org? Never heard of them. I cannot find the poll questions at their site, nor any data as to the demographics of those polled. What are they hiding?

DannoJyd on October 20, 2006 at 1:34 PM

I was reading the headlines at yahoo. I learnt that he apologized to the chinese envoy about his nuclear test. He actually has emotions. What do you expect? Money talks. Bullshit walks.

Ouabam on October 20, 2006 at 2:14 PM

China knows a good thing when they’ve got it. Their economy is strong and gaining momentum. Keeping their lunatic neighbor on a short leash is good for business.

natesnake on October 20, 2006 at 3:04 PM

NYT headline: Bush gets apology from North Korea.

Other Headline: Carter apologizes to Bush.

I can hardly wait for tomorrows headlines. It will happen won’t it?

right2bright on October 20, 2006 at 3:07 PM

What would be even better would be to sack the NK leadership and install a regime that is in line with the current China model.

Yes I know that China recently greased some Tibetan pilgrams, but one has to admit that overall in the past 10 years China is slowly becoming a Western friendly country.

Money talks and bullsh*t walks.

natesnake on October 20, 2006 at 3:08 PM

Yup. Absolutely, positively, 100% will happen.

Hey are interested in buying a bridge? Bearly used and has scenic views of New York City. I’m willing to let it go for a very reasonable price.

Seriously though, I’d have a heart attack if those headlines came to pass.

natesnake on October 20, 2006 at 3:14 PM

What do you know Multi-lateral talks worked! This guy is a wacko who, in the past, has successfully bribed the US into giving him more aid. I say he needs to be China’s problem, not ours.

flaherty on October 20, 2006 at 3:51 PM

Hmmm. Up to now, Kim’s strategy has been to act so crazy that nobody could predict what he would do next. Now, he’s taken it to the next level, tacitly admitting he’s so crazy not even he knows what he’ll do next: “Atom bomb test? Hey, my bad. Bygones?”

Tantor on October 20, 2006 at 5:47 PM

“Yes I know that China recently greased some Tibetan pilgrams, but one has to admit that overall in the past 10 years China is slowly becoming a Western friendly country.”

Yeah, Chinas’ great and coming along nicely.
All we have to do is keep bribing them with a 201 billion trade defecit each year and everything will be wonderful.

I think this one world community should be run like a poker game.
If you want to join the game, you have to buy your way in.
Our paying nations to play nice in the sand box is a crock.

I still believe China will have to use some high velocity lead poisoning to stop their puppet. China needs a NK they can manage, this one is becoming a pain in the ass. China knows we will not abandon the region.
The Chinese envoy brought a message and a gift. I’d love to think of what could have been in that box.

Ixnay on October 20, 2006 at 7:14 PM

BOOM

“Sorry”

BOOM

“Oops”

BOOM

“My bad.”

The guy has learned from watching the games that Saddam played for years. I think his next move will be to call a recount of the Security Counsel’s votes for the resolutions, claim that countries not in the counsel are being disenfranchised . . . oh and the South Korean taking Kofi’s position stole the election.
