Yeah you see Gorby, your wall was to keep people in Russia. Ours is to keep people out.
Idiot

Well, if those Amish don’t sign up, some bureaucrat may lose her job.
Won’t anybody think of the bureaucrats?

Any longer, that means little. We’ve had a Republican-controlled Congress and another one in the Oval Office, yet our government is bloated to record levels.

They. Don’t. Need. You.
On Gorbachev compares proposed U.S. border wall to Berlin Wall, when Russia has an illegal immigration problem, they can talk.

Actually, that would be a RINO administration. The party is in shambles in this state. Between Taft’s and Petro’s and Montgomery’s corruption, the General Assembly’s decision to turn us into the New Jersey of the Midwest via tax increases, the election of a large percentage of the state special education students to our Supreme Court, and not ejecting Cleveland from our borders, we are as competitive as the Browns economically. They’ve destroyed my state.

‘Scuse me? That tax money you’re spending to harrass the Amish? Do you suppose our employees the beaurocrats could multi-task and take some notes while they’re there about how to educate children in a one-room, non air-conditioned building with nothing but books, paper and pencils?

Take your hats off and say a prayer for these brave and wonderful people. The entire population should take a lesson from them. They have honor, and pride and should be an inspiration to our youth.

Gorbachev, like Jimmy Carter, is just desperate for a little attention. Fortunately they both can rely on the same dried-out, obsolete leftist groups to pay them some attention ocassionally. Russia will actually need the kind of workers that come here illegally, so why doesn’t Gorby invite central and south americans to Russia, where they’ll be free to parade with mexican flags, receive “free” medical care and have their children taught in spanish in the russian school system.

In California, yesterday, the John & Ken show talked about how Spanish radio stations advertise the 4-hours-to-welfare program, and how nothing will happen to illegals if they show up. Officials don’t know to pump our taxes out the windows fast enough.

when Russia has an illegal immigration problem, they can talk.
They do – in the Far East, where the Chinese are taking over. Good luck keeping them out of Siberia, Vlad.

That reminds me of how hard my offspring’s school pushed to get us to sign up for the free lunch program. We explained that we weren’t in need, yet they told us it would be a good idea. At that time, I thought it would be a good idea if they got a real job.

I don’t understand how anyone could prefer the pre-packaged cereal and processed meats of the food stamp programs to the fresh home-grown foods of the Amish.

I worked for one year at a left-wing non-profit that assisted homeless shelters here in Los Angeles. Yes, I know, it was rough but I learned a lot about how the government grant system works. I would sit in meetings where these non-profit big wigs would bemoan that not enough people were “accessing” food stamps, and that they should be taught how to do so. When I interjected that maybe they aren’t using them because they don’t need them, the reaction was heated to say the least. My suggestion meant, to them, that I did not care aboutthe poor. That mentality permeates the entire social services “industry”.

Yet another instance where the people who are closest to the situation are being forced to continue marketing efforts that they know aren’t going to work. Due to an edict from above, these guys have to continue to try to force food stamps on a people that abhor government assistance while, at the same time, trying not to annoy the Amish (although, the Amish are a very forgiving people, so there’s no danger from annoying them, but it’s still wrong).
Furthermore, this is just another example of the fact that only certain alternative lifestyles are acceptable in our society. They’ve chosen an agrarian/self-sufficient way of life. So, of course, they live below the poverty level, but that doesn’t mean that they ‘need’ government assistance.
When did welfare go from being something that a person could use as a last resort when they’d fallen on hard times to something that the government pushes on people like a drug?
Could it be that the government is afraid of self-sufficiency? Perhaps being able to take care of yourself and your community without the government’s help is a bit threatening….

I bet those silly Amish don’t even get Social Security checks! The Horror! The Horror! How do they survive on self reliance? They NEED some government assistance to be TRULY happy…
