I’m sure it is linked to Global Warming and his not adhering to the Kyoto Protocol, somewhere.

I agree. Also, if those countries decide to make a nuke they have the capacity to start at 0900hrs and have a coffee-can sized nuke by 1200hrs. By 1700hrs they would have them mass produced and aimed at China and NK. China is playing a very delicate game it may lose.

In a nutshell, let’s look at Clinton’s “mastery of foreign policy.” North Korea fired a missile over Japan on August 31, 1998, four years after the Carter “peace” deal. Another “mastery” of negotiations between the Clinton administration and North Korea resulted in stalled nuclear inspections by the IAEA from 1994 onward. We threw away billions of dollars in oil and two nuclear power reactors, plus loads of technology. Just where do you think he got the spent rods from? Then in October 2002, confronted with intelligence, North Korea finally admitted they had been lying and had been developing their nuclear program.

We can all thank North Korea for lying and the Clinton Administration for their “mastery” of foreign policy.

SHHHHHH, not so loud. There’s been talk.

Here’s a man who, if I’m not mistaken, graduated from Annapolis and went on to a stint in the Navy working with nuclear submarines. One would think that he’d be at least passingly familiar with two sources of nuclear fissile material, plutonium and uranium. Yet, in negotiating with North Korea about suspending their plutonium bomb development, but doesn’t bother to do anything about their ability to develop a uranium bomb.

And then he negotiates a five-year period during which the North Koreans would be free from any kind of verification that they were complying with the agreement.

But what should we expect from a man who relied on his daughter Amy for advice on nuclear strategy?

Here is a man who admonished Americans for their “inordinate fear of communism,” kissed Leonid Brezhnev on the cheek, and later said, “I was far too trusting of Mr. Brezhnev” when the latter repaid his naivete by invading Afghanistan. Yet more than a decade later, he’d obviously learned nothing about dealing with communist dictators: for he clearly trusted the North Koreans to be true to their word.

And here is a man who, when the North Koreans’ agreement-busting nuclear weapon program has progressed so far along that they can’t hide it any more in 2000, and they finally come out and openly admit to breaching said agreement, has the insolent gall to blame George Bush for what was so obviously predictable back in 1994.

“You called them ‘evil!’ That hurt their feelings! How could they not build a bomb after such a display of insensitivity?”

On a different note, stonemeister above asks whether anyone has blamed George Bush for the Hawaii earthquake. Don’t worry, it’ll come … I have a sister who blames him for the earthquake in the Indian Ocean a couple of years back, the one that triggered those lethal tsunami. The “logic” goes like this:

1. Oil companies were conducting seismic tests off Australia before the earthquake;

2. Australian prime minister John Howard is a “Bush crony”;

3. Those tests couldn’t have happened without Howard’s backing, and he in turn must’ve been put up to it by George Bush in order to curry favor with his “oil buddies”;

4. The seismic tests must’ve caused the earthquake; ergo…

5. George Bush was responsible for the earthquake.

Seriously.

It’s like that old parlor game, “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon,” only substitute George Bush and then in six steps or fewer link him up as the indirect if not proximate cause of anything that has gone wrong, is wrong or may go wrong in the world. We’ve just watched Jimmy Carter do it ….

Soros is just a left-wing crack-pot with dangerous amounts of money but Jimma is a former president that never wastes an opportunity for weaken his country. Sad.

One question not asked: Why would the South Korean government invite the noted anti-American Soros to speak at the World Knowledge Forum? Take a look at this article in the Korea Times about Soros. His comments about South Korea producing more than they consume is sure to be taken well in anti-American South Korea, where because of their protected market block just about every American and Japanese product from making any inroads into their country. The USinKorea blog I linked to that documents anti-American behavior and patterns in South Korea is dead-on accurate. The blog was done by a guy who was an expatriate there who was concerned about the effect on the constant anti-American propaganda on the American troops serving in Korea. What do our troops think about their host country inviting Soros, spewing out his trash talk about America? Again, why would the SK government invite Soros at this moment to speak? It is because they agree with his anti-American philosophy.

I lived in South Korea for a few years until 2002, and South Korea is NOT an ally; in fact they are trying to undermine our security and Japan’s. We need to pull our troops out and move them to Guam, deal with North Korea militarily through air strikes, and let South Korea defend themselves from shelling.

What color is the sky in Carter’s world? Former President Jimmy Carter said Tuesday night that an agreement he brokered 12 years ago for North Korea to halt nuclear weapons development is “in the wastebasket.” Carter contends the Bush administration…

So which is it? More diplomacy or less?

Oh wait… I forgot… it’s whatever Bush does it wrong no matter the actual facts.

Nice try Greg, but this isn’t a black and white situation, in spite of your half-hearted effort to present it as such. Nobody on this site has ever said that Pres. Bush is a master of foreign policy. Do you honestly think that Pyongyang would’ve given up their pursuit of nuclear weapons if the President hadn’t called them a part of the axis of evil? And do really believe that any amount of talking would’ve made them dump their nuclear weapons program? If so, could you please give us an example of what we could say to them?
