KP jumps ugly with sock puppeteer over Larry Craig “outing”
posted at 4:01 pm on October 18, 2006 by Allahpundit
Whoops. I mean alleged sock puppeteer, of course!
I love how she defines morality as something other than “whatever Glenn Greenwald believes is right.”
The correct definition, of course, is “whatever Andrew Sullivan believes is right”:
[A]ll the examples listed in [Greenwald's post] deal with extramarital affairs. The outing of gay people is about what exactly? What is their “moral” crime that is akin to adultery? Don’t liberals believe that being gay is ok? Ahh…yes. But being gay and not thinking like liberals think is apparently “immoral.” Who says so? The Liberal Police. Who will they target next?
Who? Well, you, KP, for starters.
I’m going to see if I can get her to open up comments. I know Rick Ellensburg, Thomas Ellers, Ellison, and the rest of the Greenwald fans are itching to get in there and remind her that (a) he’s written a bestselling book, (b) he rose to Internet prominence in a nine months, (c) Senators read his blog, and (d) newspapers have written front-page stories based on his posts.
Dean Barnett’s also gone after the Puppetmaster in today’s must-read. Quote:
Glenn Greenwald is always quick to tout his massive intellect. Let’s see if he can get his mind around this:
I have Cystic Fibrosis. My continued survival depends on medical advances. And yet I oppose embryonic stem cell research. Amazing, isn’t it? In this instance, I put principle ahead of self-interest. And I’m no saint. Good people live their lives routinely putting principle ahead of self interest.
The most depressing thing about Greenwald and his ilk is that their sincerity is unquestionable. They truly believe that they have a monopoly on decency and goodness and that no person of good faith could possibly disagree with them.
The irony is that it’s always people like Greenwald and Rogers who blast President Bush for having a simplistic Manichaean world view that divides the world into good and bad. Look in the mirror, guys.
How’s all this playing with the Republican base? Fine, according to member-of-the-base Mary K. “There’s a huge schism on the right” counters Republican-base-hater Mike Rogers. Whom to believe?
In hindsight, maybe Joe McCarthy’s mistake was ruining people for being suspected communists instead of ruining them for the hypocrisy of being suspected communists enjoying the fruits of a capitalist system.
Exit question: who’s had sex with more barely-legal teenagers? Mark Foley or Gavin Newsom?
Update: Looks like KP’s decided to lay it all on the line. The nutroots had better check her out and make sure she’s not a lesbian.
Update: Ace wonders if Greenwald, by his own logic, is a race traitor.

She is calling out the nutroots to take her down, isn’t she? I have a feeling they will prove as effective in accomplishing that as they have been in electing a candidate to an actual elected office.
Ennuipundit on October 18, 2006 at 4:07 PM
Maybe you were right about her. She’s definately growing on me and seems to be a person of sound integrity.
Esthier on October 18, 2006 at 4:08 PM
And I like her stance on Rosie…
Esthier on October 18, 2006 at 4:13 PM
This outing thing is ridiculous. I hope the outer has lots of lawyers and money.
realVerse on October 18, 2006 at 4:14 PM
Coincidentally, these are the same people who just love nerd-fests like Star Wars. You know, those flicks that pitch The Good Guys vs The Bad Guys.
Fun fact: Young George Lucas was approached back in the 70s to direct “Apocalypse Now”, but declined due to the divisive nature of the topic. He instead chose to shift the action a couple thousand years into the future, same message, but with lightsabres, which would ultimately spawn a multi-billion dollar franchise. Almost 30 years later the same director would castigate Bush jr. for exploiting the good vs bad meme.
The point about this pop culture reference? Hypocrisy, the one trait which Democrats just cannot hide because it’s so deeply defining their every day lifes. It’s the ultimate weakness of the whole liberal lot.
Niko on October 18, 2006 at 4:16 PM
She may end up a disavowed liberal yet… might as well welcome her to the Republican party…
E L Frederick on October 18, 2006 at 4:17 PM
Wait, are you saying Lucas has a problem with Bush’s good vs. evil thing?
The man invented the Darkside for goodness sake.
Esthier on October 18, 2006 at 4:18 PM
I like KP. But, I can’t figure out why she doesn’t have Hot Air on her blogroll under “Daily Reading.” I guess if she did that, she would be asking for the Left to declare her anathema.
nailinmyeye on October 18, 2006 at 4:23 PM
I doubt KP will join the Republican Party. Being a socially conservative Liberal, as AP called her, almost certainly means that she is enduring the pioneering work of trying to slap sanity back into the Democrats. The nutroots must loathe her, but the folks I am sure love her. And that kind of fulfillment probably makes up for the whack jobs.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…
Guess that makes me White & Nerdy.
BlueStateBlues on October 18, 2006 at 4:28 PM
It does, but it’s also true. Star Wars is in the past.
Esthier on October 18, 2006 at 4:28 PM
She’s got guts.
EFG on October 18, 2006 at 4:29 PM
Allah,
Now look what you have done. My guess is that you just won’t find her exciting anymore.
Rustyw on October 18, 2006 at 4:30 PM
No doubt about it. Allah has converted KP. Congrats!
DannoJyd on October 18, 2006 at 4:33 PM
KP is a perfect example of a good liberal.
Smart, funny, loquatios, and can debate a point. When she sees something is wrong she doesn’t ignore it because it could hurt her party. She speaks up about it. No party is the ultimate solution. Convervatives and liberals both have good and bad positions. For our system to work both sides need to hash out a solution.
The problem today is, the Democrats scream that they have the only answers, and block the Republicans at every chance just to block them. We need more liberals like KP, who can look at the world unflinchingly and see that solutions are more cmplex then “because I want it so”.
Course this holds for the Repubs also.
Wyrd on October 18, 2006 at 4:41 PM
if the democratic party had more people like KP and Lieberman, I don’t think I would be a republican
Defector01 on October 18, 2006 at 4:47 PM
Wow, I must say, KP just tells it like it is. I’m truly impressed.
darwin on October 18, 2006 at 4:52 PM
Obviously my post the other day stating that KP was too liberal for me to be attracted to her affected her deeply. You’re almost there KP. Keep up the good work!
;)
In all seriousness, she’s at least the type of liberal you can sit down and have a rational conversation with and there are seemingly few of those left.
Benaiah on October 18, 2006 at 4:58 PM
>I’m going to see if I can get her to open up comments.
Jeeeeeeez, she’d get eaten alive! All she ever does now is rip on the left! It’s almost as if she’s been corrupted by someone’s influence/nagging…
I’d say the best case KP-comments scenario is a lot of righties complimenting her on being “a reasonable liberal” and the liberals politely stay out of it. And this scenario is about as likely as the GOP picking up seats.
Alex K on October 18, 2006 at 5:07 PM
I’ve been critical of KP in the past (perhaps unfairly), but she’s winning me over by having the guts to call out the left on its excesses. I’ll probably always be on the other side of the political divide, but at least I’ll be able to respect her opinions, in contrast to the moonbats who just ooze the hypocrisy that they are supposed to be so against.
Maybe KP is becoming somewhat of a female Christopher Hitchens, minus Hitch’s killer instincts.

What I want to know is, where does K-Pow stand on tax cuts and other economic issues?
Seems a bit premature to declare a total conversion just because you catch her sniping at some of the more obnoxious leftist kooks out there.

“In hindsight, maybe Joe McCarthy’s mistake was ruining people for being suspected communists instead of ruining them for the hypocrisy of being suspected communists enjoying the fruits of a capitalist system.”
The problem with McCarthy wasn’t that he was wrong.
His problem came from being ‘right’.

I like KP. ‘Course, “Kp” sound like a newly discovered addition to the periodic table of elements, but… she’s growing on me. Also, AP? you’ve certainly gotten a lot of milage out of that cute hand-over-mouth pic. Don’t you dare stop!
Kadnine on October 18, 2006 at 5:34 PM
I hereby out KP as a closet Republican!!
HerrMorgenholz on October 18, 2006 at 5:36 PM
I’ve always liked Kristin when she’s been on tv. She seems like a really nice person who you can disagree with but still like. However, I wonder how long the Howard Dean party will continue to let her be out there as a Democratic Strategist.
Catie96706 on October 18, 2006 at 6:13 PM
Especially when she still has all of the leading lights of the nutroots in her blogroll. It was like cognitive dissonance watching her tell Greenwald where to go AND quote Althouse with DailyKOS blaring from the sidebar.
Anwyn on October 18, 2006 at 7:21 PM
Because of this site, I have found myself becoming a fan of hers…I don’t always agree with her viewpoints, but the way she carries herself is admirable. I don’t think she is one to suffer fools gladly, but she has a lot of class, backed up with intelligence!
Pam on October 18, 2006 at 8:08 PM
I wasn’t saying that she’s leaving the Dems… I have a feeling that the Dems are leaving her…

Regarding Barnett’s stem cell comments, an interesting post on how California citizens were duped on the stem cell savior.

Hey wait a minute. I like Hitch. I wish he lived next door so I could be like Homer Simpson’s neighbor and work on him. I think Hitch acts on conscience. He thinks certain people are doing reprehensible things so he goes after them with words and facts.
I’d change ‘killer’ to ‘warrior’.
Her cuteness is blinding people to her fighting nature. You have to be a fighter to take on the self-loathers.

KP is just plain HOT. The fact that she’s intelligent and poignant as well as calm under fire is overwhelming. (cut to pic of KP with hand over mouth) I want to apply for the job of editing her V-blog.

Dead on target. And the fact they think all conservatives are religious conservatives doesn’t help.

KP is a Dem any thinking Pubbie can respect. If Fox were smart they’d put her with Hannity instead of Colmes, the Human Tivo FastForward.
