Afghan jihadis issue second warning of impending terror attack on U.S.; Update: Jihadis surveilling airports?

An AQ commander named Abu Dawood allegedly told Hamid Mir last month that an attack was coming during Ramadan. Of course, he also promised a new message from Bin Laden within two weeks.

Didn’t happen.

With a week left before Eid, here comes warning number two:

The head of the Islamabad-based Al-Quds Media Centre has received an audio message from a senior Taliban leader in which he asked Muslims living in the US to leave the country as soon as possible “because God’s punishment would fall on America in the month of Ramazan.”

Jamal Ismail, a senior journalist who once worked for Al-Jazeera television channel and is now head of the Al-Quds Media Centre, told The News that he received a phone call Thursday from Taliban leader Mulla Masoom Afghani. “Afghani said he was speaking from somewhere in Kandahar province. He read out the message in Arabic, which I recorded. In it he advised Muslim residents of America to get out to escape harm because the US could face big attacks in the month of Ramazan,” said Jamal Ismail.

And suddenly, “Jaffar the Pilot” is back in the news again.

You’ll know the FBI is really worried if new items about Shukrijumah start showing up in the Blotter this week.

Update: Terrorists doing reconnaissance or wannabes wanking around with Internet tech? You make the call!

We have what… about a week left of Ramadan?

E L Frederick on October 17, 2006 at 12:33 PM

So Ramadan ends next Monday the 23rd..then there is Eid for 3 days which is feasting and celebrating. How coincidental would an attack be at the end of Ramadan? Scarey.

labwrs on October 17, 2006 at 12:47 PM

So close to the elections too.

I question the timing.

natesnake on October 17, 2006 at 12:59 PM

Looking on the bright side,

…he asked Muslims living in the US to leave the country as soon as possible…

Karl Rove strikes again!

Catie96706 on October 17, 2006 at 1:09 PM

Since when is it called Ramazan?

I don’t see any mass exodus of Muslims happening.

I guess the only video of Osama they could come up with was the old training camp tape where Atta and Jarrah looked liek they were engaged in foreplay.

A terror attack would be terror-ible!

Get it?

Look one thing there is no shortage of in Islam besides holy sites is holy holidays, which explains why they like Fwance so much. When they ain’t beating the snot out of themselves with whips, they are trampling around like lemmings around a giant rock somewhere. Bewtween popping their butts up in the air for Allah to kiss five times a day and all the “celebrating” of holy days it is a wonder they get around to all the killing or each other and anybody else in the blast zone.

What is scary about el-Shukrijuma (Jaffar the Pilot), is that supposedly he smuggled fissile/a nuclear bomb into the US through the Mexican border with the help of the violent and radical gang MS-13.

If you go to the FBI’s site here you’ll see that el-Shukrijuma has a link ‘en espanol’ while the others do not. Doesn’t that imply that he might have had contact/help with the illegal smuggling rings that help people from south of the border get in the country? No other suspect on that page has a Spanish translation link.

Perhaps I’m just jumping the gun here…

linlithgow on October 17, 2006 at 1:48 PM

Sorry about that, forgot close the link! Here it is:

I’ll just paste it here since I seem to be having trouble with this today: http://www.fbi.gov/terrorinfo/terrorismsi.htm

That is really interesting. MS-13, the gang originally from El Salvador, is all over Northern Virginia, here in the Washington suburbs. If Arabs shave and attempt a Spanish accent, I can see how they could pose as Hispanics. I wonder if the next major attack will be done by Arabs pretending to be Mexican “undocumented workers.”

Hmmm.Ya know those webcams at airports and other places are such low quality, I don’t how anyone can do any serious surveillance/reconnaissance with them.

vcferlita on October 17, 2006 at 2:08 PM

Geez, do they not realized that their own will suffer for generations – as it currently stands – enough already.

ar_basin on October 17, 2006 at 2:56 PM

Will another attack be Bush’s fault because:

A. Rove made deal with Al Qaeda to sway the elections
B. W failed to find Osama hiding in Trenton NJ
C. Homeland Security should have been profiling
D. Muslim diety kicks Christian diety’s ass
E. W went AWOL during his Natl Guard service
F. W didn’t listen to Kerry’s advice (get out of Iraq)
G. W did listen to Kerry’s advice (go into Iraq)
H. Haliburton needs new construction contracts
I. Depriving Guitmo prisoners mint jelly with their rack of lamb made terrorists go apeshit

Ok. Let’s talk about incense, the stations of the cross, rosary beads, clergy celibacy, holy water, nuns in habits, limbo—one man’s religion is another man’s ridiculous charade.

honora on October 17, 2006 at 4:03 PM

Your point Honora?

IrishEi on October 17, 2006 at 5:27 PM

I wish the news media would show this guy’s face every day. They should run ads with his picture every hour. Everybody in America needs to keep an eye out for this guy! He looks like Joey Tribiani, if you see him, say “How YOU doin’?” then punch him in the face and call the cops!

That the trappings of religion can seem bizarre to people outside that faith. Don’t get me started on Pagan Babies!!!

honora on October 17, 2006 at 5:56 PM

Dearest Honora,

Time for your catechism lesson:

1) What’s wrong with incense? Even hippies use/d it.

2) Catholics do the stations of the cross, particularly during Lent. They pray at each station (which represent various points along Christ’s journey to his crucifixion)and remember how he suffered for mankind. No self flagellation involved.

3) Catholics use rosary beads to help keep track of the number of prayers said during the rosary—more than 50. Mary, mother of Jesus Christ, instructed Catholics to say the rosary for world peace. Rosary beads are not used to strangle muslims.

4) Clerical celibacy has been upheld by all modern popes because it is felt that those who are called to the priesthood should not have any other greater love in their lives to distract them from their vocation. Marriage is yet another, separate vocation for Catholics. While I will agree that this issue is debatable, it should be noted that there is no one in the priesthood who was unaware of the vow of celibacy. Promiscuity, pedophilia and rape are condemned in Christianity, whereas they are celebrated in Islam.

5) Holy water is simply water that has been blessed. What’s the big deal? Catholics dip their fingers in the water and make the sign of the cross. Nonbelievers are not burned by it. Muslims have been known to urinate in holy water fonts in Italy (according to Oriana Fallaci,) yet remarkably, Christians have not responded by burning down mosques.

6) Nuns in habits? Not so much anymore…not even at the Vatican. Some older nuns still wear them by choice, but there are very few who still do. Most dress in ordinary clothes and the few orders that still have “habits” have much more secular outfits. And I have not heard of any modern day Crusaders disguising themselves with a habit.

7) Limbo!?!? How long have you been away from the Church? I’ll bet you still don’t eat meat on Friday! The unbaptized are no longer banished to Limbo. And remarkably, Christians do not condemn non-believers to Hades–nor do they hasten the trip.

IrishEi on October 17, 2006 at 6:02 PM

Au contraire my humorless friend. Pat Robertson (sp?) does it regularly (the condemning part). And let’s not forget that nutcase “God hates fags”.

honora on October 17, 2006 at 6:05 PM

Last time I checked, Pat Robertson was not the Pope, and most Christians do not consider him mainstream. On the contrary, your muslim friends and their clerics condemn EVERYONE. And, there is not a single priest nor minister, indeed no sane person on earth, who condones the actions of the Westboro Baptist “Church.”

You really are tiresome, Honora. Go back under your rock.

IrishEi on October 17, 2006 at 6:11 PM

Back on topic…a friend of mine in the ATF tells me that those “practice runs” on the airlines that we heard so much about last year continue on a regular basis. Never hear anything in the MSM about it because that’s the way the feds want it. He wouldn’t give me any real details, but apparently there are a couple of arrests made every month.

IrishEi on October 17, 2006 at 6:16 PM

honora on October 17, 2006 at 6:05 PM

The last refuge of the ignorant, school yard taunts. Honestly. And it was you who engaged me in “conversation”. Let’s not do that again, shall we?
