Australia’s opposition have launched an unsuccessful censure motion in parliament against Prime Minister John Howard, accusing him of sending troops toIraq “on a lie”.
The motion against Howard, a key ally of the United States and its war in Iraq, was defeated 80 to 58 in a vote on party lines after an angry debate.
The leader of the opposition, Labor Party chief Kim Beazley, charged that the invasion of Iraq was based on the false claim that the regime of Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction.

WE all know this “no wmd” line is a crock, and yet politicians worldwide still tout it as fact. The tactic is so clear, lie lie lie and then if your opposition calls you liars you just say ” i know you are but what am I?” ?????
The Pew Wee Herman version of Orwell I guess.

You’re killing me. Please say it was 58 women who voted for censure.
I can’t stand the thought of Australian men whining “they liiied to us, they tricked us into it and now the Europeans think we’re unsophisticated, and the Muslims are maaaaad at us.”
Australia, don’t let your cowboys turn out to be babies.

Like the muslim extremists, liberals are everywhere and must be stamped out.

A sign of things to come if we don’t vote in November. Every liberal I know can’t wait for the upcoming elections, because it means impeachment and overall investigations of the Republicans.

Rick,
Right on. We can whine all we want, but there is nothing more important than going to the poll on Nov. 7th and pulling the lever. Turnout is key.
I’ll say it again to all, Vote on November 7th or quit your bitchin’.

I hope P.M. Howard realizes how wrong it was to de-arm the population. Australia is a continent-sized island mostly wild and empty of people. Protecting yourself in the outback is a necessity, no matter what the urban liberal thinks.
