My favorite: The Muslims mad that the London Olympics will clash with Ramadan and they should reschedule it:

Massoud Shadjareh, chairman of the London-based Islamic Human Rights Commission, said: “They would not have organised this at Christmas. It is equally stupid to organise it at Ramadan.

“It shows a complete lack of awareness and sensitivity.

“This is going to disadvantage the athletes and alienate the Asian communities by saying they don’t matter.

Gee, I wonder why they would not schedule the summer Olympics at Christmas. If you can’t adapt to Western Civilization, Massoud, how about going back from whence you came?

It does look like the British are starting to get serious, which is a good sign. I like the Sun article “Blitz on Islamic Danger Zones.” If only our newspapers could tell it like it is, as the Sun article does.

Let’s not forget this gem of a headline from the Telegraph a couple of days ago: Give Iran The Bomb: It Might Make The Regime More Pliable.

The article under that headline was written by the editor of Britain’s top conservative weekly, by the way.

On the days when it looks like the West is falling over itself in a collective rush to embrace dhimmitude, I have to step back and remind myself that Islam itself is fatally flawed. What fatal flaw?

First, my own background (at least in this area) is that of a military intelligence analyst and linguist. I have engaged in both formal/scholarly study of Arab culture and religion as well as informal study of the same based on my experiences in the region and among expatriates (Christian and Muslim) here in America. While I’m no Bernard Lewis, I do have a good working knowledge of the peoples/cultures/religions of the Middle East. I say this so that readers will understand that I reached my conclusion after some study and contemplation. That conclusion: Islam itself is fatally flawed and the terrorism espoused by more militant Muslims is a reaction to the collapse of Islam as it comes into ever greater contact with the modern world.

Why would Islam face such a collapse? Because it is not a religion per se, rather it is a collection of primitive tribal and cultural superstitions and practices that were prevalent in the Arabian peninsula circa 622 A.D. with a thin veneer borrowed from Judeo-Christian beliefs. Mohammed simply borrowed from the Bible of the Jews and Christians he encountered in Jerusalem and used that basis to elevate his own tribal/cultural preferences to an artificial status as divinely ordained law. Most Arab Christians I have known have been both amused and appalled by this chicanery. You are probably also aware that “Arab” culture as it is commonly understood by Muslims (in the “pan-arab” sense) is not Arab (it bears little relation to the culture of the Levant and even less to that of Egypt) so much as it Mohammedan (i.e. a reflection of the Quraesh tribe’s preferences).

So where does that leave Islam? It leaves it as a collection of primitive seventh century tribal practices that appear more ridiculous with every encounter with the modern world. Unlike Judaism and Christianity, Islam is not based on the fundamental truths revealed by God, so it does not rest on a solid bedrock of truth which would allow it to flourish in a changing, modern world. Rather, its non-divine origins become more obvious with each passing year and it is revealed as a primitive social construct rather than a religion. Thus, the hatred (conscious or unconscious) of many Muslims for modern societies and the West in general and Christianity and Judaism in particular. The mere existence of these things reveal many of the basic tenets of Islam to be frauds, or, at best, tribal fetishism. If you were to strip away all of the tribal superstitions and nonsense from Islam, you’d be left with nothing but an empty shell that merely pays lip service to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

The only question remaining is whether our “leaders” surrender faster than the islamists’ house of cards collapses.

England and Continental Europe are said to be quite far gone in any case, but they are perhaps completely irretrievable if the Americans don’t take away the wealth of Saudi Arabia and Iran. Just as the profits from oil are being used to promote muslim radicalization, those profits could be used to promote muslim peaceableness or destruction. Yet the Americans forbear. John Locke might laugh at his doctrine’s having become a suicide pact, inasmuch as he never advocated respect for the lives, liberty, and estate of tyrants. Yet Western peoples act as if they think the mineral rights of “the House of Saud” and the ayatollahs extend to a right to finance the submission of the West.

Kralizec on October 16, 2006 at 9:44 AM

Secarr,

I would add that there is a great deal of animism built into Islam, reflected in their beliefs in the ‘jinn’ and their practices centered around Mecca. It really isn’t a religion at all, as you’ve pointed out.

PRCalDude on October 16, 2006 at 12:18 PM

PRCalDude,

Yeah, that’s a good point. I lumped it all together under “tribal fetishism” because we could go on for days about the various primitive superstitions that are part and parcel of Islam.

secarr on October 16, 2006 at 12:44 PM

and don’t even get me started on the moon god and the pagan festivals that were the precursors of the Haj (Mohammed basically made a deal with the merchants of Mecca who profited from the trade associated with the pagan festivals (outlawed by Mohammed) held in Mecca: in return for their support, he made the Haj, or muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, mandatory for his followers. Mohammed solidified his power base and the merchants still made their profits from religious pilgrims coming to Mecca).

If Secarr were right that Islam is about to collapse, we could safely wait around for it to do so. No action would be required; everything would take care of itself without our having to put ourselves at risk.

I heartily agree that muslim beliefs are stupid, but many people believe all sorts of stupid things, and as soon as they give up one set of stupid beliefs, they take up another. We have no reason to suppose that Islam will collapse just because it’s “seventh century,” “primitive,” or “superstitious.”

I haven’t read any account that supports the view that Islam is collapsing. I’ll eagerly grant that it would loose much of its present power if various muslim regimes were destroyed, but right now, it’s Europe and Canada that are in retreat, not Islam.

Islam has an abundance of what the West lacks: babies, children, and teenagers. One can foresee a possible future in this circumstance alone: Despite its abundance of young people, Islam doesn’t urge its women to work at a register or a desk until they’re 35, instead of bearing children. In the West, we consider it a point of good morals or good taste for women not to have children in their first decade after puberty, and even then we figure another decade can’t hurt. Muslims are on schedule effectively to complete their takeover of Europe in that length of time.

In terms of worldly goods, the West has money–money that it spends in fistfuls on the aged, who will die shortly, and money that it spends on weapons it’s scarcely willing to use. Islam has money that it spends on madrassas, mosques, jihad, and bribery. Institutionally, Islam doesn’t scruple about colonizing new lands, doesn’t scruple about killing, doesn’t scruple about oppressing, and won’t hesitate at all if given an opportunity to force Secarr’s grandchildren to recite its “primitive,” “seventh-century” “superstitions.” None of those disparaging labels will matter at all, if unbelievers aren’t allowed to utter them and, indeed, aren’t permitted even to mention the Prophet, even under the pretext of praising him.

The common Western responses to Islam remind me so much of Mars Attacks. Secarr, have you seen Mars Attacks? Please rent it and watch it before making any more speeches, Mr. President. That flag isn’t going to feel very good, growing out of the left ventricle of your big heart.

Kralizec on October 16, 2006 at 1:48 PM

Kralizec,

Um, read the whole thing. In no way, shape, or form did I mean to give the impression that Islam is not a clear and present danger. While it IS falling apart due to its unavoidable contact with the modern world, the process is likely to be long, drawn-out, and painful. It is like some dangerous beast that becomes doubly dangerous as it lashes out wildly during its death throes. Islam cannot survive in its present form absent isolation to the deserts whence it came or continued subsidization by the West (e.g petro dollars or “aid”).

Your point about demographics is well taken. I agree with you (and Mark Steyn) about the dangers of an expansionist Islam. But don’t mistake desperation for dynamism. While there are instances of the latter, they occur in the larger context of the former. Bottom line: we can only lose if we fail to fight. Problem is, we are only fighting half-heartedly. Don’t you agree?

For the Christians out there, a good starting place on Islam. Read it this weekend:

“Our Constitution was made for a moral and religious people, and is wholly unsuited for the governance of any other”. — John Adams

A most alarming aspect of Islam in the West is the attraction it seems to hold for a certain class of converts, and much of that can be laid at the feet of the death of our traditional religions. The Catholic church has institutionally imploded, Protestantism has been replaced by mega-businesses, and Judaism (in the west) continues its long decline through inter-marriage and the like. I, a Protestant, can not now find a church appropriate for my family, what with the “jeans and sneakers” services and the accompaniment of divine hymns by some untalented goof on a bass guitar and the “pay-to-Pray” attitude. Disgusting.

Man is a spiritual creature, and there is a spiritual void in our institutions and our culture, and it seems that those most in need of filling that void go to the greatest extremes to fill it. The hippie youth like Walker-Linde and Gadahn, raised on whatever spiritual Pablum their elders pandered, or African-American prisoners, desperate for some order in life, or the various British yobs that likewise suddenly become Imams, are all sucked into the criminal gang of Islam because they are susceptible to its sanctioned outlet of violence. In American prisons, muslim “spiritual leaders” are all funded by the Wahabists of Saudi Arabia, and the Islam in prison is of the most vile type.

You hear a lot about Islamic vs. Western birthrates, and there is a lot to that, obviously. But there is a far harder concern to face, and that is the spiritual vacuousness that has permeated our culture, religious institutions, laws…. everything. As someone said, “You may not be interested in religious war, but religious war is interested in you.” Well, it’s here, and we lack the religious logistics to win. We are no longer fit to be governed by our great Constitution, and the enemy is exploiting the void.
