Kerry praises Studds, includes Foley in GOP verbal lashing

posted at 11:38 pm on October 15, 2006 by Ian

A slew of politicians have praised the late Gerry Studds; here are a few that made it in the news:

“Gerry’s leadership changed Massachusetts forever and we’ll never forget him. His work on behalf of our fishing industry and the protection of our waters has guided the fishing industry into the future and ensured that generations to come will have the opportunity to love and learn from the sea. He was a steward of the oceans.”

- U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.

“Gerry was a stalwart champion of New England’s fishing families as well as a committed environmentalist who worked hard to demonstrate that the cause of working people and the cause of the environment go hand in hand with the right leadership. When he retired from Congress, he did not retire from the cause, continuing to fight for the fishing industry and New England’s environmental causes.

- U.S. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass.

“I am very saddened by the death of Gerry Studds. From his days in the early 1970s as an articulate and effective opponent of the Vietnam war, through his consistent leadership on environmental issues, to his insistence that the U.S. government stop ignoring the AIDS crisis, Gerry was a forceful advocate for causes that were not always popular and that were consequently shunned by many politicians.”

- U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.

Last week I wrote about Olbermann bashing Corey Lidle moments after his death was confirmed, so I am not asking for Studds to be berated. However, is it really neccessary to write he was an “advocate for causes that were not always popular” or “no one fought harder for human rights”? Let’s not forget, this guy had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy.

Funny how John Kerry praises Studds, yet finds time to include Foley in his whine about Republicans.

Noel Sheppard has a must-read piece on the media’s double standard between Mark Foley and Gerry Studds.

Ah, ya beat me! I’ve been meaning to post this for a while but hadn’t gotten around to it yet. I agree, no one expects them to blast the guy when he just died. But they’ve sure had a great time blasting Foley, when it was Studds who actually had sex with an underage male page. I wonder if they’d offer such praise if it were Foley (who apparently wrote inappropriate IMS and emails, and may have slept with a 21 year old former page) who just passed?

By the way, did ya catch this? Haven’t read it all yet, but no report of the “drunk outside the dorm” Foley incident.

Demonrats … a fine example of hyprocites

The page who stood by Gerry Studds ought to come forward and tell the nation how he feels and what he thinks about older men and teenaged men hooking up — on Capitol Hill or anyplace else.

Has he been interviewed about the Foley scandal? Seems like an obvious item on a good reporter’s to-do list.

Kerry is a traitor, a seditionist, a coward under fire, who gave himself inflicted wounds that he used to get out of Vietnam, who slandered ALL his fellow Vietnam veterans, who throw his medals away (then lied about it), and he is a giggolo — twice over.

He thinks the Sandinista are “misunderstood democrats,” and voted against every weapons systems in the arsenal today as well as introducting legislation to gut the CIA.

He was a leader of the “nuclear freeze movement” that would have left the Soviet Union PERMANENTLY ahead in nuclear weapons and launch platforms, and he is against ballistic missile defense.

And now he GLORIFIES A CHILD MOLESTER, a page rapist. He makes Trent Lott look like a statesman.

And you foolish, stupid Democrats nominated him for the highest elected post in the country. Boy, you people suck.

A vote for a Democrat is as vote for surrender and appeasement.

Haha! Oh, you were serious? Well don’t hold your breath. Have you looked at the state of our media lately? What should be on the reporter’s to-do list and what actually is are entirely different.

You know? If the situation were reversed … liberals would be accusing Rove of having Studds assassinated in order to make him off limits to the attacks which were seen to be coming in light of the Foley scandal.

The Ann Coulter theory.

Vince Foster, James McDougal, Ron Brown, Gerry Studds … and the whole Clinton Death List thingy.

I question the timing.

The double-standard on Studds vs. Foley speaks for itself, both from the media and the democrats’ perspective.

Studds’ death – Rovian (timing) conspiracy.

A lie, a lie, a lie, a lie

In Romania we used to have school-posters:

Learn, learn, learn – Lenin

…and us kids said “that Lenin must have been a studderer”

What a difference a “D” makes

Indeed.

Any remotely objective media would have to ask this man, in every interview, to produce his military records and to shut up until he does.

He never stopped running

The misses doesn’t want the loser around so he has to run from home and blabber on something. Not even the libs take him seriously.

Pompous. Preening. Lofty. Blue. Elitist. Full. Of. Hot. Air.

Kerry . . . The fact that people actually listen to this “been nowhere, done nothing” phony pretty well sums up the true state of this country and its society.

Liberal minds are sick and Godless, how else would you expect them to act?

I love it when Ted manages to get water reference into on of his speeches. I swear that man does it to gloat.

austinnelly on October 16, 2006 at 10:33 AM

about studds:

said his husband, Dean T. Hara

That’s just disgusting by itself.

Dual standards are the norm now, and that is also disgusting.

The fact is, if the left/dems didn’t cheat and lie and own the MSM, they wouldnt earn anywhere near enough offices to ever have a majority, and they know it.

Sick Godless bastards.

*best Kerry accent*…and whom among us can’t recall his commitment to the working people. Especially those who worked the street plying the earth’s oldest trade. So deep was this bond that he let his boyfriend run his gay prostitution ring out of his basement.
