Hillary advisor mocks McCain’s POW experience

He did Bush’s bidding by criticizing the Clinton approach to North Korea. Just like he did the Vietcong’s bidding by signing that confession after they beat him regularly for six years.

A fair comparison, no? Especially to Bush. Sounds like he’s been demoted from Hitler to General Giap.

Although if that were true, he’d have a lot more support on the left.

She’s already called McCain about the comment, presumably to apologize. There probably won’t be any more vodka parties in the near future, though.

Regarding the vodka thing… who knows what actually happened, but for what it’s worth, McCain denied it on H&C.

RightWinged on October 14, 2006 at 5:41 PM

She’s trying to choose her opponent by hoping to endear John ‘Benedict Arnold’ McCain to Republicans.

She knows that if he is attacked Rebubs will run to his defense and she’s pretty sure she can win if he’s the nominee.

Speakup on October 14, 2006 at 6:03 PM

What would Maureen Dowd and the ‘anonymous Clinton advisor’ do, after 6 years of beatings (regardless of what really happened in Vetnam; and Mr. McCain knows better than them)? I’d love to see their naked butts spanked just for 2-3 min. just to get a reaction from these ‘critical’ wussies.

RW, your bust in today’s post, on your site, is a laughing-stiches-creator :) “Sick” in a good way.

Entelechy on October 14, 2006 at 6:04 PM

The Pollingreport.com poll is way skewed as Newt is not on the list.

An anonymous attack by a Clinton advisor on John McCain in the New York Times …

Again with the anonymous sources?!?! There should be a law against quoting these mysterious, ans often fictional characters. Excessive punitive damages should be awarded to those slimed by the irresponsible news sources.

Where is the outrage, people!

DannoJyd on October 14, 2006 at 6:07 PM

Does anyone remember what Hillary said on January 26, 1992, when Bill & Hillary appeared on “60 Minutes” to confront Gennifer Flowers’s account of a 12-year love affair with the then candidate?
I don’t actually remember her words on that broadcast. But I do recall walking away with the impression that she was untruthful due to her being held hostage by political ambition. I saw no indication of physical torture though, nor physical duress of any kind, nor were there any armed guards impeding her egress.

Stephen M on October 14, 2006 at 6:23 PM

She’s trying to choose her opponent …

Can they do that?

Either way, the first thing I thought was “damn; why didn’t they victimize Romney or something?”

Axe on October 14, 2006 at 6:34 PM

Don’t like McCain (weak on border security, immigration, granting rights to terrorists, ad nauseam) and I don’t like Clinton (either B.J. or H.R.).

Don’t like Anonymous political operatives trying to seed the mine with fool’s gold.

I prefer:

TOM TANCREDO AND CURT WELDON IN 2008!

The hell with this Wimp Patrol list.

Wartime demands serious leadership, not next-in-line-for-the-coronation party hacks.

profitsbeard on October 14, 2006 at 7:22 PM

Actually, I should have been a little bit more specific.
Instead of writing “John ‘Benedict Arnold’ McCain” what I should have written is John ‘God I love illegal aliens’ McCain.
See the difference? No? Neither do I.

Speakup on October 14, 2006 at 7:27 PM

She’s attacking the wrong candidate. McCain will not be the nominee on the Republican side.

SouthernGent on October 14, 2006 at 7:38 PM

I saw no indication of physical torture though, nor physical duress of any kind, nor were there any armed guards impeding her egress.

To think I almost missed this. Quoted here and reposted for emphasis.

So, who is that mean looking guy with the blonde hair in the photo on the front page with the link to this article?

Scary; The last time I saw eyes like that was in a black and white George Romero movie.

LegendHasIt on October 14, 2006 at 7:41 PM

Let me tell you that after looking at her picture on this post, she looks like the one that spent 6 years in a Nam prison camp! Go away, go away, go away!!!

NEMETI IN SYRACUSE on October 14, 2006 at 7:59 PM

McCain gave up FAR MORE than the Packers players names. He gave it all up, over time. He was in the ‘hilton’ a long time, and torture worked on McCain. He regretted it sure, but he gave it up. Most of us would. 99.5 percent of us would.
He also signed a confession that was 100% bullsh*t, to stop the beatings and have a chance at going home.
For Ms. Hellary or her staff to bring it up is …well it shows how low they will go. They must have talked about it, Hillary’s staff, or it wouldnt have been said.

shooter on October 14, 2006 at 8:12 PM

No fan of McCain am I, but that is definitely over the line and then some. Still won’t make me vote for him in the primary … but at least he’s a better choice than Hillary (for whatever that’s worth).

The Sea Hag knows only of never giving in and never admitting anything, having spent several decades in training, watching the stone-cold defiance and slight-of-hand maneuvering of Bill the Liar.

She would have a greater respect and appreciation for McCain if he went before a grand jury and lied about an adulterous affair to save his skin.

Now that’s her kind of man.

fogw on October 14, 2006 at 9:43 PM

While I am no McCain fan & I believe the Southern Gent is right that he won’t be the nominee; I find that this is further proof that the elites on the left really don’t support the military. What all John McCain gave up is “between he & his God” to qoute her so called better half. If there were two people who were ever meant for each other that crawled out of the sewer it’s these two. I can’t bear to think of another 8 years of this “co-Presidency”.

Catie96706 on October 14, 2006 at 9:53 PM

If McCain really wanted to endear himself to a base that thinks he is almost as big a loser as Keith Olberman, he would appear on Hannity and Colmes and address Hillary publicly. He would tell the country what she said, and how she later called to apologize. He should then say, I told her she could take her apology and stick it. I wouldn’t vote for him, even after something like that. But, I do so detest Hillary and her scumbag husband.

austinnelly on October 14, 2006 at 10:41 PM

Jihad John McCain is a RINO. He’s a sheep in wolf’s clothing. Everybody knows that. So, who cares what the Billary camp says about him anyway. I’m sorry for the man, what he had to endure 35 YEARS AGO, but he’s been riding the sympathy train long enough. He’s done. He’s finished as a “self-made man”. He’s a whipped dog and will do the bidding of the highest bidder. Billary’s cup is half full, McCain’s is half empty.

If McCain ends up the Repub candidate by some hellsih quirk of fate, I’ll be voting Libertarian in 2008. Heck, all these dipshits on the Left and the Right almost make me want to vote Libertarian as it is.

SilverStar830 on October 14, 2006 at 11:19 PM

Like many here, I also am no big fan of John McCain. But being former Air Force, I went through SERE training, and the truth is that NOONE goes through the kinds of things he did and doesn’t give up whatever their asking for.

If Hillary(ous)–or almost any one of the other Demo’s–were in that same position, they would give up far more, far sooner. Billary would give up this entire country ASAP, anyway, since they already agree with the goals of all our enemies.

But as mentioned earlier, McCain will probably not be the nominee(R) because he has proven over and over how much of a self-serving opportunist he can be.

Maybe I’m odd or out of the mainstream of right-wing thought, but to me the only person with serious, conservative principles who is bouncing around the campaign trail is Newt. There are a few good people, but most are nowhere near a conservative vision of leadership other than Newt.

urbancenturion on October 15, 2006 at 4:07 AM

Newt’s been demonized too much by the MSM and also (rightly or wrongly–I don’t know the facts of the incident) has been tainted with the whiff of scandal for supposedly divorcing his wife while she was in the hospital for cancer treatment.

And anyway, I hope you’ll forgive me for saying this, but he doesn’t have a very presidential-sounding name. Sad as it is, people actually think about that sort of thing when voting. People are stupid.

Big news weekend: A cat fight between the RINO and the PIAPS.

The picture on this post:

The Beast gets uglier and uglier by the minute.

She’s just plain “fugly.”

doingwhatican on October 15, 2006 at 10:14 AM

While I don’t know this with certainty, I’ll bet that the person who made the comment to Dowd didn’t serve in Vietnam, was never a POW, and doesn’t know jack shit about what being a soldier is all about.

The person who made that comment is despicable. If Hillary has any moral compass left, she will not only publicly apologize but she’ll fire the asshole.

I disagree with McCain’s politics. Strongly on many issues. But he wore the uniform and fought for his country in a war. He was captured and tortured by a country that ignored the Geneva Conventions. Accordingly, he is deserving of the respect accorded to such men, even if one disagrees with his politics.

These comments by a staffer DIMINISH Hillary as a human being and as a politican.

The path has been cleared for another round of ‘vodka’.

Entelechy on October 15, 2006 at 1:48 PM

She’s (H.Clinton) just plain awful. Is anyone impressed for what she stands for? What does she stand for? Does anyone even know? Does she stand for the American Way? Who even knows? She is hiding and thinks she is going to spring up and get her way in the elections just like she did in New York. Look out people. She’s coming….

johnnyU on October 15, 2006 at 7:51 PM

Is anyone impressed for what she stands for?

Nuance, johnnyU, nuance. It depends what “stands for” means.

Entelechy on October 16, 2006 at 12:41 AM

I absolutely cannot stand McCain. However, I do agree with the statement Shooter made above.

What a perfect example of class shown by Hillary. There is a ton of stuff to attack McCain on. His choices made under real torture are not among them.

Cary on October 16, 2006 at 10:43 AM

I can’t vote for McCain. There are plenty of reasons why he is unelectable… but his wartime experiences aren’t among them.

Being from AZ, and being soft on border security; and being a previous POW, but soft on terrorism: are top on my lists.

Being a former POW is not a crime, being a former POW who knows the reality of Geneva, yet chooses to keep his head in the sand is.
