Vent reax: America demands more roundtable

posted at 8:19 pm on October 13, 2006 by Allahpundit

Lots of e-mail feedback to today’s show. Almost all of it positive. Much of it from men. Many of them asking if we could invite Bethany next time, too.

Go figure.

bethany912.jpg

The funny thing is, we modeled this segment on a show that attracts very few male viewers.

rosie-guns1mbps.jpg

Again, go figure.

I don’t want to raise temperatures too much, but I e-mailed KP afterwards to congratulate her and to toss out the possibility of filming the next one down at the local gun range, where MM and co. could teach her how to shoot. You know what she said?

I already know how to shoot! My dad was a big gun collector…..he used to take us to the “shooting range” (a gravel pit set up w targets) all the time…..

kp-reaction.jpg

Here’s a little more (virtual) roundtable for you. The boss was on Cavuto this afternoon to talk about Hillary’s presidential prospects and the likelihood of the GOP retaining control of Congress in November. It seems my pessimism’s rubbing off on her. I’ve spliced in a short segment of KP on Jane Skinner’s show earlier today discussing the midterms and Cheney’s effectiveness at fundraising. Consider it a little free exposure as thanks for her agreeing to do our show.

I do feel a little guilty that we haven’t done an all-male roundtable yet for the ladies’ enjoyment. We could do one; it’d be as easy as me, Bryan, and Ian congregating at the Hot Air studios for an impromptu rap session. But … I’ve seen the beginning of “A Hard Day’s Night.” I won’t live like that.

I can’t live like that.

To compensate, here’s the cover of a new calendar featuring half-naked Marines. The publisher has promised to donate to wounded vets 100% of the proceeds received from the, er, “ladies” who purchase it.

marine.jpg

Twelve more waiting for you right here. That should cover for us two more shows.

KP knowing how to shoot doesn’t surprise me for some reason. Maybe it was her reaction when it was brought in in “The Vent”. I dunno.
But Allah, fair warning, if Bethany finds out that you have her and Rosie O. on the same web page, she might shut the door on you.

Mrs737 likes the Marine in that calender photo, but I told her “He’s not a Marine, look at his hair.” She said “You’re just jealous.”

Tony737 on October 13, 2006 at 8:40 PM

Great show. KP reminds me of why I used to be welcome in the Democrat party, which makes me believe her days there are numbered. And it won’t be her choice to leave.

B Moe on October 13, 2006 at 8:41 PM

What a great juxtaposition of pictures – light and darkness. What a witty dude you are AP.

Also, those eyes in the bushes…great looking guys all. Thanks for posting, not only for the ladies, also for the cause.

Entelechy on October 13, 2006 at 8:43 PM

Superman is a Marine now?

The Apologist on October 13, 2006 at 8:45 PM

Ugh, that pic of Rosie just gave me a seizure.

Um, can someone explain this to me?

Marines are the only branch of service that only uses its own personnel in its advertisements. No reason to use models now. Those are Marines dude.

Theworldisnotenough on October 13, 2006 at 9:13 PM

These guys were on Neil Cavuto yesterday and the ones with the longer hair I believe I understood that they were still in the reserves and thus that’s why their hair is longer. Anyway, these are hot Marines! It would be nice to have these atractive males on a Vent.

Catie96706 on October 13, 2006 at 9:19 PM

Allah, nice post! I’m glad you linked the hottie Marines. It’ll buy you some time, but not forever. Are you still working on that body by bowflex for us?

I just bought the calendar. It’ll peer pressure the hubbie into working out again.

pullingmyhairout on October 13, 2006 at 9:20 PM

Theworldisnotenough on October 13, 2006 at 9:09 PM

The Beatles

BlueStateBlues on October 13, 2006 at 9:20 PM

I dig Mr. April the most. There is something about a man with a big gun…

pullingmyhairout on October 13, 2006 at 9:23 PM

But … I’ve seen the beginning of “A Hard Day’s Night.” I won’t live like that.

I can’t live like that.

I know it’s from the Beatles, but Allah, I haven’t seen the movie. Hell, I wasn’t even born when it came out. Can you do some ‘splainin???

So Allah, if you were to compare yourself with one of the dudes from the calendar, who would it be? Who is most like Allah? Take the bait. Please? we all want to know…

pullingmyhairout on October 13, 2006 at 9:26 PM

I don’t even look like the same species as those guys.

I’ve been told I bear a resemblance to Jeremy Piven, if that helps.

Allahpundit on October 13, 2006 at 9:29 PM

The Beatles are mobbed by rabid fans and try running from them.

I wasn’t born until years after it came out, but I have seen little clips.

BlueStateBlues on October 13, 2006 at 9:30 PM

Piven is FUNNY. I like Jeremy Piven. Hmmm, you kinda have the same sense of humor…

BlueStateBlues on October 13, 2006 at 9:31 PM

Jeremy Piven…hmmm….kind of like the guy next door. I’m sure you are darling. someone I’d set up with my sister.

Show us the goods big guy…

infidel4life on October 13, 2006 at 10:03 PM

Men do pin-up calendars:It’s for charity. “Girls just want to have fun.” It’s ratings for daytime talk shows. You go, girl.

Women do pin-up calendars: It’s sexploitation! You men have dirty little minds. You men are cads. You’re objectifying women.

Remember the brouha when that video was leaked of female military personell mudwrestling? Here we have male military personell posing topless, and it’s all ok. No hand-wringing. No “shame, shame, shame”.

I won’t hold my breath for a calendar of female military personell in bathing suits. Living in New York, nor of female firefigters along side the male firefighter calendar.

hadsil on October 13, 2006 at 10:42 PM

Bethany: Yeah!

Rosie: Ugh!

Michelle: She is so ‘freakin’ gorgeous…

Kirsten: If Democrats listened to half of what Kirsten says, the Republicans would be in real trouble.

The Marine Posters: Eh… too bad the ladies can’t see pictures of me in my uniform, in my younger days.

;)

Post one here, on this thread, Lawrence – this is your chance…

Adorable…

Jeremy spoke in class today…

infidel4life on October 13, 2006 at 11:53 PM

I always get a buzz when I hear conservative women talk. My wife and I were watching the future weapons show on Discovery last night and she kept going off on how awsome all the new weapons were.

Call me a savage – there’s nothing much sexier than that!

venmax on October 14, 2006 at 3:56 AM

An absolutely outstanding show.

I pray that Allah never gets smitten with Susan Estrich.

dinasour on October 14, 2006 at 8:22 AM

About that Marine?

Not exactly the same “high and tight” that my son wears….

georgej on October 14, 2006 at 8:59 AM

Allahpundit, Thanks for the calendar! Although seriously, I would at some point like to see a vent segment with the 3 men..really..Or a segment with the gals having each of you on as a guest speaker…something..The point is, your perspective is just as important to the discussion as the gals…

As a side note, I think it would be a great show if KP chose the topic and the egment gets aired around it..kinda like The View meets Hannity and Colmes from a Hot Air perspective.

Pam on October 14, 2006 at 9:05 AM

The show opens with the camera zoomed in on the target. Five or six shots ring out, each accompanied by a new hole in the bullseye. The camera zooms out to reveal Michelle holding the gun. Never, never admit that the range pro did the shooting.

RedWinged Blackbird on October 14, 2006 at 9:37 AM

PLEASE invite Mark Steyn when you do the “All Men” vent!
Those Marines are..well..swooooon!
KP was really good on the show today. I agree with above, if the Dems would listen to her and stop going on about nonsense they would be more formidable foes.
I am still not ready to throw in the towel on the election.
This is essentially a LOCAL election cycle and we all know” all politics is local!”

labwrs on October 14, 2006 at 10:25 AM

Mantastic!

GregH on October 14, 2006 at 11:42 AM

The linked article says these guys are “ex-Marines” and current active duty Marines. Most of them, based on the length of their hair, fall into the former category.

That said, if 100% of the proceeds are going to wounded veterans, who cares?

Grouchy Old Yorkie Lady on October 14, 2006 at 12:15 PM

I’ve been told I bear a resemblance to Jeremy Piven, if that helps.

I wasn’t going to say anything until Allah did, but having met Allahpundit, this is true. The second I met him, I said he looked like someone I’d seen in the movies, and Piven is the person I was thinking of.

Patterico on October 14, 2006 at 12:31 PM

OOOOOHHHHHHH…

Saracasm. Allah would be mobbed like the Beatles were he and the fellas to do a roundtable type show. I knew A Hard Day’s Night was about the Beatles but that reference was a little to obscure for me. Backstreet Boys or New Edition I would have understood.

Theworldisnotenough on October 14, 2006 at 3:09 PM

One bit of feedback. I wouldn’t refer to it as “Hot Air Gals” anymore as the acronym HAG is better suited for the women from The View. Perhaps the name here should just be the HOT Gals.

TexasRainmaker on October 14, 2006 at 5:23 PM

On Michelle’s blog is a picture from the 2007 America’s Heroes Reconnaissance Marines Calendar. Now *that’s* an appropriate picture for a calendar of miliary personnel.

Damn straight, venmax! And congratulations!

Axe on October 15, 2006 at 1:33 AM

Sorry. My Southern was showing. Sometimes we “Hoot.” Occasionally we “Holler.” But the sentiment was genuine.

Doesn’t suprise me KP can shoot either… she claims Alaska as her home state. I can’t exactly see her moose or deer hunting… but I imagine she’s a woman who can take care of her self.
