Might as well link. Everyone else will.
Says Drudge:
The DRUDGE REPORT has obtained an exclusive copy of a “scary” campaign advertisement created by Hollywood producer and director David Zucker that was intended to be used by GOP organizations in the closing weeks of the 2006 campaign.
However, the advertisement was deemed “too hot” by GOP strategists all across Washington, DC who have refused to use it!…
One GOP strategist said “jaws dropped” when the ad was first viewed. “Nobody could believe Zucker thought any political organization could use this ad. It makes a point, but it’s way over the top.”
But according to Jewish Journal in a report dated October 6:
Funded by pro-Republican, tax-exempt 527 groups, the ads will appear on YouTube, the Drudge Report and America Weakly, a new parody site run by the Republican National Committee (RNC) that purports to show what the country would look like under Democratic control. The RNC asked Zucker to make the spoof ads because of his “stellar reputation and high-quality production,” said Tara Wall, director of outreach communications.
It’s not up at America Weakly — yet. Will it be, or per Drudge, has the GOP decided to pass? They might as well: now that Drudge and YouTube have it, everyone will see it anyway. Keeping it off AW lets them claim they’re taking the high road.
On the other hand, how much of a high road is left when you’re running a parody site called “America Weakly”?
Jewish Journal says there’s another Zucker ad coming, this one having to do with taxes. Stay tuned.
Update: I’d forgotten that Zucker got into the ad game during the last election, too. Click the image to see what he put together for the Club for Growth.
Update: No surprise here: the Zucker ad has been flagged as inappropriate at YouTube.
Charles Johnson e-mails to say someone’s also been messing with the hit count.

Surely a funny ad from David Zucker.
Yes it is, and don’t call me Shirley.

Can I hire Albright to cut my grass?
wardrobedoor on October 10, 2006 at 4:23 PM
I saw the Beamer ad on TV the other night,I thought it was well-done. The Zucker ad, yeah, over the top,but right on the money!
vcferlita on October 10, 2006 at 4:23 PM
I say, screw the high road that the Republicans are saying & run this ad a.s.a.p.
Starblazer on October 10, 2006 at 4:26 PM
I don’t remember Madame Albright being that good looking! Maybe its all of the 400 Pound leg presses that she’s been doing that makes her look so non-hideous!
BelchSpeak on October 10, 2006 at 4:26 PM
OMG! how did they get Maddy to play herself?
Catnip on October 10, 2006 at 4:27 PM
That was the best political ad I’ve ever seen. It is funny and convincing at the same time.
Why on earth would GOP strategists pass it up? If these GOP strategists continue to be so wimpy and scared to death about how Dems are going to react, we are definitely going to lose the midterm elections.
Stop being so out of touch and politically correct. Run this ad on television now!
januarius on October 10, 2006 at 4:36 PM
Listing the two pieces together is a bit misleading. One is clearly a parody while the other is a disturbing piece of propaganda.
GregH on October 10, 2006 at 4:36 PM
Of, course it would have been cooler if the sign at the end read, ‘Go Great Reader.’
JasonG on October 10, 2006 at 4:37 PM
Darn wall at work. I just might have to go home a little bit early!
Bob's Kid on October 10, 2006 at 4:38 PM
What’s the over/under for the amount of time that GooTube will remove each of these ads for being “offensive”.
thirteen28 on October 10, 2006 at 4:41 PM
er, amount of time before Gootube removes …
edit or preview function … please?
thirteen28 on October 10, 2006 at 4:42 PM
GregH- Get real. The second was only “disturbing propaganda” to liberals like yourself. It was a sobering and accurate message by the father of a 9/11 victim, a message you liberals refuse to allow on the MSM.
On the bright side: Whenever libs like yourself are “disturbed” about something, that something has to be good for the country. Therefore, the ad must be effective, and hopefully this ad will be run throughout the country.
januarius on October 10, 2006 at 4:48 PM
This shit is too funny. It’s too clever for a political ad. It’s like a cake that no one wants to eat because it’s so beautifully decorated.
Kid from Brooklyn on October 10, 2006 at 4:54 PM
Those were classic…
Now all you need is Reggie Jackson, lifting a gun from under 3rd base, and trying to kill Saudi royalty at a Dodger’s game…”I must kill the king…I must kill the king.”
I miss the naked gun…and the pre-murdering OJ.
BirdEye on October 10, 2006 at 5:00 PM
All that ad needs is clips of the liberal media fawning over the success of the Cigarman administration for being so well conned.
I hope the Zucker ads run, and run, and run.
DannoJyd on October 10, 2006 at 5:17 PM
Poor little Greggy. Dour, humorless LLL.
JammieWearingFool on October 10, 2006 at 5:18 PM
Just because liberals have ZERO sense of humore doesn’t make it “over the top”, does it?
SouthernGent on October 10, 2006 at 5:20 PM
You know I just had a thought. Is this the political version of the privateers? Back in the day ‘pirates’ would attack foreign ships in order to hurt the economies of the competing nations. It allowed nations to attack their neighbors without actually going to war.
Is this something similar? Did the Republicans leak this to the public with a story of it being too hot knowing that most people would watch it? Although it is more than a little silly the video still makes salient points on how the Dems seem to not take the WoT seriously. Its a win-win situation for the Republicans. On one hand they can claim that they are taking the high road by not going offensive and they are able to get the message out.
JasonG on October 10, 2006 at 5:24 PM
My wife and I agree with Starblazer…this must be shown everywhere! :)
Sorry for the double track back there (Jihadi Du Jour and Joe S.) I forgot that Townhall.com automatically tracks back. My bad.
Joe on October 10, 2006 at 5:29 PM
JasonG
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a good deal of “viral marketing” going on in this election cycle. There was a little bit last time, and an off-year election would be a good time to test it out in advance of 2008.
Farmer_Joe on October 10, 2006 at 5:33 PM
Check out my man Vernon Robinson- he knows how to make an ad.
Valiant on October 10, 2006 at 6:21 PM
I’m in the north burbs of Raleigh.
SouthernGent on October 10, 2006 at 6:45 PM
Well GOOTUBE’s flagged it for adults only. It can’t be long before its banned. Censoring bastids.
Iblis on October 10, 2006 at 6:50 PM
Click here for a great ad that Lieberman is running against Lamont. I saw it for the first time yesterday. Short and sweet.
Greg Tinti on October 10, 2006 at 7:06 PM
seriously, the Republicans NEED to put these type of ads out soon or the terrorist appeaser democrats will win this November. like i said before, screw the high road that the Republicans have said about not using the ad that democrats ARE in fact terrorist appeasers. i say that when the democrats use the Mark foley scandal against the republicans, then the republicans should do the same thing to the democrats who ARE weak on national sercurity & have no planS to protect the U.S.
Starblazer on October 10, 2006 at 7:16 PM
and if the republicans don’t then we might as well convert to islam
Starblazer on October 10, 2006 at 7:17 PM
SouthernGent, I call Cary my home.
Valiant on October 10, 2006 at 7:17 PM
GregH, you really should try developing a sense of humor, life can be so much brighter.
infidel4life on October 10, 2006 at 8:01 PM
Liberals: “Free speech for me, but not for thee.”
They’ve flagged it as offensive. Certainly, nothing is as offensive as the Clinton administration, and we had 8 years of that on the network news.
alflauren on October 10, 2006 at 8:09 PM
I will think of you as I cast my vote for Vernon. We all know he has almost no chance to win, but he might carry the portion of Wake County his district touches. I’ve seen a few yard signs, but no Brad Miller signs.
SouthernGent on October 10, 2006 at 8:47 PM
Hell yes, the Zucker ad should run, and on heavy rotation. Republicans get trashed every week night by the Daily Show, with a studio audience that excretes forced laughter and applause like a bunch of crazed seals. It is also, by their own admission, the sole source of news and information for many liberals (no shit).
Liberals only think they’re funny. Stewart and Colbert are mildly amusing occasionally, at best. A similar show along the lines of “America Weakly,” would likely find as much, if not more audience than The Daily Show.
We have not yet begun to jest!
Indy Mark on October 10, 2006 at 8:59 PM
Hey!!! In the Club for Growth ad… is that TREY PARKER in the bomb scene? Not the indecisive one, but the guy who rolls his eyes and pushes the other guy away? It looks like Trey Parker, and I think they (the South Park guys) are buds with Zucker.
I never saw that before. Tell me if I’m wrong.
DaveS on October 10, 2006 at 10:14 PM
I hope Zucker can help me with an ad when I decide to run for office! He has my kind of humor!
Lothar on October 10, 2006 at 10:29 PM
Lothar, are you running for mayor of the Hill People?
DaveS on October 10, 2006 at 10:33 PM
David Beamer.
Cindy Sheehan.
One has been baptized with “absolute moral authority.”
One has not.
I wonder which of the above parents would enthusiastically work to ensure our loss, and which one would fight it. We know how their sons felt about it…
EFG on October 10, 2006 at 10:45 PM
What about that is “offensive” to those at youtube? That should be on every other commercial. That was great!
Catie96706 on October 10, 2006 at 11:04 PM
Hey Valiant and SouthernGent…I’m in Wakefield (N.Raleigh)!! Nice to know you guys are around!
tickleddragon on October 10, 2006 at 11:34 PM
I meant to say, too, that I was rooting for Vernon Robinson. His ads are fantastic.
Hit that “submit” too fast… ;o)
tickleddragon on October 10, 2006 at 11:39 PM
How the F&*CK is the Zucker ad over the top? No wonder the Republicans ain’t shit. What a bunch of namby pamby’s! The Dems call your boy HITLER and suggest that HE STARTED THE WAR FOR HIS OWN PERSONAL REASONS and you think an ad which portrays APPEASERS as APPEASERS is “over the top”?. When you wake up as LOSERS on NOV 8 2008 and want someone to blame, look in the mirror and blame the first WUSSY that you see.
BTW they’ve got ALL KINDS of ads waiting for you! And I’ll bet the one thing that NEVER came up as they were preparing their slander campaigns, was whether or not they were being “too harsh” on you. LOOOOOOOSSSSSEEERRRSS
Soothsayer on October 11, 2006 at 12:31 AM
Screw the Democrats.
Give them both barrels with plenty of reloads.
And if GreggyH doesn’t like it — well GOOD!
georgej on October 11, 2006 at 2:25 AM
‘Dennis, there’s some lovely filth down here…’ ad needs some Python…that can be another of Maddy’s lines, and dressed for the part, too.
Except for the losers part, I agree with most of what Sooth said. Who’s the GOP decision maker(s) not allowing the attempt to even the playing field? You don’t stand up, or allow others to fight back, you appear weak, not morally just. Even Jesus raised cain in the Temple! Or have the SP’s found a way to ‘dumb-down’ that book too? Yeh, I know it’s an oversimplification. So am I. And simple people understand humor-especially the kind that’s in those ads!
Lothar! Mike Meyers first SNL self-written skits, right!?!
Wedge Plissken on October 11, 2006 at 3:17 AM
Fox & Friends showed the first half of the video just before 7:00 AM [EST], then requested to know via e-mail if we, the viewers, thought it was over the top.
You just cannot keep a good ad down.
DannoJyd on October 11, 2006 at 7:11 AM
Zucker, we need your ads to convert the unrepentant liberals.
The RNC needs you.
Hire this man and give him a job.
I’m listening to and liking what these ads got to say.
And no, these are not over the top.
tormod on October 11, 2006 at 9:32 AM
I say, “Lights, Camera, Action” let the show begin!
