Video: Woodward claims Cheney told him ‘that’s bullshit’ about OTR interviews
posted at 10:52 am on October 9, 2006 by Ian
Dick Cheney said the bs-word, hahaha, hehehe. As expected, some liberal bloggers are getting their panties in a bunch over this.
Woodward then used this event as a “metaphor for what’s going on.” Apparently, “you hang up on somebody” who “you don’t want to deal with.” Gee, thanks Bob. What is he going to tell us tomorrow, that the earth revolves around the Sun?
After Woodward’s knock at Cheney, you could hear laughter in the background. It seems like the Meet the Press studio kids are taking a cue from the Laughing Stagehand.
TIM RUSSERT, HOST: Have you spoken to the president or the Vice-President since this book came out?
BOB WOODWARD: Uhh, the vice-president called me I guess as it was coming out 10 days ago.
RUSSERT: And?
WOODWARD: Well, he called to complain that I was quoting him about the meetings with Henry Kissinger, that he and the president had. I had interviewed Vice-president Cheney last year a couple of times at length about material I’m gathering on the Ford administration, on the record interviews, but he volunteered. He said by the way Henry Kissinger comes in and he, Dick Cheney, sits down with him once a month and the President every one or two months and Cheney was upset I was quoting him and I said look, it’s on the record it doesn’t have anything to do with before you volunteered that, he then used a word which I can’t repeat on the air and I said look on the record is on the record and he hung up on me.

The biggest controversy about the Woodward book isn’t what Woodward said about the Bush administration but about a quote on page 344 that is now causing a firestorm of anger directed towards James Carville in the Leftwing Blogosphere. A little googling will reveal just what that Woodward’s controversial allegation was.

Who cares if Cheney said a naughty word…?

Am the only one that still uses Yahoo! to search?
Those people never lose elections, do they? It’s always stolen.
(Thanks, administrator (Ian?) for taking care of my request!)

Here’s a link to save time instead of googling.

So far as Woodward is concerned, he’s just neurotic and struggling with deep hasbeenism.
He’s willing to castigate his own mother for a little air time.
The part about Carville tipping off the Bush administration is just too hilarious.
That clock stopping, hob goblin is the best REPUBLICAN operative the Democrats have.
I suppose that’s why elections come right after Halloween.

Off the Record = Anonymous Source
We must remember, there are no ethics in Journalism and that’s “WoodStein’s” fault. Woody clearly admitted it. Once on the record, always on the record!

I’m still waiting for Woodward to produce another deathbed confession from someone in a coma, which he is prone to do on occasion.

BacaDog—Yup! That’s the story. Plus I took a look at Woodward’s book today and turned to page 344 and there it was. The accusation that Carville spilled the beans on Kerry’s vote challenge plan. Until it gets straightened out, Carville will be UNWELCOME by the Leftwing Blogosphere.

Yeah, yeah. But there’s very little direct contradiction of anything in the book. It’s more like “oh well, Woodward drew the wrong conclusion” or the Rice “I have no memory of that meeting (how Nixonian!)”, then “Ok there was a meeting but nothing special re impending attack”, then “Ok there was discussion of an impending attack but nothing so significant that I passed it on”, then “ok there was info I passed on….”
The only one who is really challenging Woodward’s assertions is Snow, and that very generally. There’s a surprise.
I finished this over the weekend. It’s the most depressing thing I’ve read in ages. The Garner stuff alone (Q: In Rumsfeld world, how long do you give yourself to prepare for post war Iraq? A: 2 months) is positively Shakespeareanly tragic.
