There are plenty of odd couple Congressmen who have roomed together on Capitol Hill, but I have never heard of a chief of staff who rooms with his boss. It is beyond unusual.

Geeze Louise, Larry, ever heard of David Drier? If you’re going to mount a smear campaign and call him a homo, at least try to keep up, OK? Your homophobia is far from state-of-the-art, to say the least.

You couldn’t be more right. Given the state of today’s media, we need to have multiple sources before anything is to be believed, which is why I question some of ABC’s reporting on all of this. All you have to do is think about Rathergate. I mean, no one thought he was fair, but I also don’t think anyone would have expected him to air, an then stand by, such obvious forgeries. You’d think they could have gotten more convincing ones. But Rathergate makes the “don’t trust anyone” case for us.

The Clerk of the House from 1999-2005 who was, inter alia, in charge of the page program is an openly gay man who serves on the board of the HRC and this is mentioned, almost in passing, at the back of a story? While I can understand those who want to eliminate the Boy Scouts because of their ban on gay scoutmasters liking this, Hastert had nothing but praise for him. WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON UP IN CONGRESS??? How many of those whose votes enabled Hastert to become a Speaker knew who he would have as chief asdministrative officer of the House, in charge of the Page program??? Why wasn’t this brought out loudly during those six years??? This whole “affair” gets more and more entangled every day with a large presence of both open and closeted gays being deeply involved. There was (and is)clearly a very pervasive gay culture in both the Speaker and minority leader’s staffs as well as many other key leadership offices– gays way beyond the level in society. I hope some devotes the time to letting us know what is going on. I have no interest in seeing anyone “outed”, but if there are people up there who are interacting with each other, communicating and reating “specially” on the basis of their sexual preferences, then this is something which is a legitmate cause of concern
