There are some conservatives out there that do not like Dennis Miller, then there are others like me who love him.

But seriously, Hannity or Colmes?

Both Hannity and Colmes were so rattled when they aired the clip that they both missed the point.

Hannity was embarrassed, while Colmes was elated that he chose Hannity.

However, Miller said that he would do Hannity because he wouldn’t like it, thereby inferring that Colmes would.

Everyone have a great weekend!

Who doesn’t like Miller?

rightwingprof on October 6, 2006 at 3:54 PM

“I’d probably do Hannity….. just ’cause I know he wouldn’t like it”

Lol, is he implying Colmes might?

RightWinged on October 6, 2006 at 3:58 PM

Alan does seem to have the better sense of humor.

mikeyboss on October 6, 2006 at 4:00 PM

Viva La Dennis Miller:

“And in case you couldn’t smell it, yesterday was France’s independence day, also known as Bastille Day when the French overthrew the monarchy, it was the last time its citizens did anything that involved having balls. America has covered more French ass that Yves St Laurent. ‘

So wake up and Smell the café au lait Jean-Claude Appeasement, you owe us your allegiance for single-handedly uncorking Hitler’s jackboot from your pastry ripened rectal flange. Next time the Sauerkrauts want to show you how big and scary their frankfurters are, drop a dime on a country that gives a merde.

Oh and by the way, thanks for the statue, it only took us two years to grind the armpit hair off OK? And speaking of people who raise a stink, Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 would never been the hit it is today without the wide eye fawning send-off the French gave it at Cannes. Moore celebrated Bastille Day by storming a Cold Stone Creamery by the way, Viva la Oreo Pieces.

You know the motto of the French Revolution was Liberté Égalité Fraternité. Now France’s motto should be “Retreat Surrender and Grab your ankles”. And in case you didn’t get It, I don’t hate the French, I hate Jacques Chirac and the Cirque de Sore Losers.”

Miller is great, and yup, he implied that Colmes would have enjoyed it.
I have 2-3 of his rant books, and need to remember to buy the latest book.

Wyrd on October 6, 2006 at 4:03 PM

I haven’t heard much of Dennis Miller, but I haven’t heard anything to indicate conservatives wouldn’t like him.

Esthier on October 6, 2006 at 4:03 PM

Actually watched Dennis’ show, a few times while he was gutting it out against John McEnroe. Meh.

If he could tone it down a little, and sound more like his old self and less like the lite-right version of Al Franken, he’s got a voice that the some on the left will listen to.

We could use some of that.

Having said that, Hannity or Colmes …, or …? There’s got to be some “or else” to that question. Hopefully, that “or else” would be akin to “death via boiling vat of oil.” I’d take that.

yo on October 6, 2006 at 4:06 PM

I’ve always considered Dennis Miller funny. Glad to see he still has a great sense of humor. :)

DakRoland on October 6, 2006 at 4:08 PM

Poor Colmes. He does have that perty mouth though….

Valiant on October 6, 2006 at 4:10 PM

Valiant – now i’m scared

I’m a huge dennis miller fan and should be a regular on Fox

Defector01 on October 6, 2006 at 4:15 PM

I’d do Alan and make it as painful as possible for him … nah, I’ll just take option 3, bullet to the head!

Tony737 on October 6, 2006 at 4:18 PM

I’ll forever love Miller just for the fact that he grew a brain and switched aisle sides. ;o) Funny man, and now sexy for his political intelligence.

tickleddragon on October 6, 2006 at 4:28 PM

Rolls my eyes…sorry to see Dennis Miller rolling in the muck.

MarkB on October 6, 2006 at 4:50 PM

There’s way too much reference to Gay Sex here.

Especially after watching Rosy having hetero sex.

Kini on October 6, 2006 at 4:52 PM

Dennis Miller should be back, completely uncensored, on HBO where he belongs. Instead HBO has that airhead idiot bill maher. Complete waste of air time. I refuse to watch that crap. I gave it a shot early on, but damn…

And the cnbc thing that Miller did there for a while… I felt so bad for Dennis and how completely disrespectfully he was treated by that network. They made him do commercials for things like tires like in the olden days of television, and you could see his heart wasn’t in it. Dennis Miller is a national treasure and not a friggin’ monkey on a leash collecting pennies for their network.

Damn I wish his voice was out there right now ranting every week. I would love to hear what he’s got to say about all the stuff happening right now.

Hey Dennis! If you happen to read this, put up a subscription website and put all your content and rants and bypass the conventional broadcast system. It’s all eventually going to be usurped by internet content delivery shortly anyway. Might as well get a jump on things.

techno_barbarian on October 6, 2006 at 5:03 PM

Miller is hilarious. Did anyone catch his “REAL Free Speech” segment on Fox a couple weeks ago? It was about illegal immigration, and it was not only funny, but accurate.

NTWR on October 6, 2006 at 5:07 PM

I think Dennis made the wise choice, for all the right reasons. But I think I would have wanted to make sure I’d be pitching and not catching. Hannity does get a little angry.

Pablo on October 6, 2006 at 5:14 PM

I’ve always liked Dennis Miller and I’m glad he’s still out there speaking for conservatives.

Benaiah on October 6, 2006 at 5:26 PM

rightwingprof,

Drudge called in when he was sitting in for Sean last year and read Miller the right act. He called him a fake conservative, etcetera.

Rustyw on October 6, 2006 at 5:31 PM

Isn’t Colmes the b**ch?

Rustyw on October 6, 2006 at 5:32 PM

There’s LOTS of room here for a *crack* at both H&C. I had a good one but, sure as hell, Allah would ban my sorry ass! And YOU! Don’t go moping around with that slack jaw just because I won’t tell you…..and YES, it’s Friday! All! DAMN! DAY!

Oh, it’s fun playing with these bunns buttons above the box.

james hooker on October 6, 2006 at 5:57 PM

Dennis Miller. An incredible wit, an encyclopaedic memory for TV and movie details, and an unashamed capitalist in the midst of the looniest left there is, Hollywood. (Full disclosure, I grew up not far from there, I can bash Hollywood with license)

But I don’t really like him. When he had the recurring show on HBO, it was always apparent that he saw himself as well above his audience intellectually. Of course, for the most part that is true, but what he did with it was enjoy firing thoughts at them knowing they weren’t really keeping up, and being immensely smug about knowing it.

This is also why he didn’t do well on Monday Night Football. Sports is an American subculture where you have Joe Six-pack who uses sports terms to euphemize ordinary events, like slam-dunk, shutout, strikeout, touchdown, personal foul, curveball, etc… Then here comes Dennis Miller as a color commentator describing his reaction to an unusual football play in terms of a scene from Hamlet. (He actually did that) He regularly quoted obscure movie lines and such, and I honestly can’t say if he thought a substantial portion of the viewing audience could relate, or if he was continuing his older behavior of proving he was the smartest guy in the room. Either way it was sure to be a short-lived job.

Now, all that said, his talent and humor are not to be questioned. As for Drudge busting Miller’s chops about his conservative bona fides, that stinks. Miller came from the hippie-drug 60’s, for him to make the Churchillian move to the right at all was a brave thing to do, and has cost him immeasurably in his professional life. I’ve seen many many “fake” liberal blogs done by conservatives, but I’ve never come across a parody right-wing blog. TV shows try to fake a conservative character all the time, but the stupidity of it is always painfully obvious. Miller isn’t faking it when he talks pro-gun, anti-big government, and pro-defense. If he was it would smell to high heaven.

First, AP posts a sex video of Rosie O’Donnel WITH A MAN, and then Ian questions the homosexual appeal of Hannity & Colmes?!! What is HotAir coming to?

If my brains (both of them) go on strike IT’S YOUR FAULT!!!

Lone Star on October 6, 2006 at 6:56 PM

james hooker,

I agree it’s fun playing with the button above the box.

mikeyboss on October 6, 2006 at 7:13 PM

Dennis is great. Humor and common sense.

infidel4life on October 6, 2006 at 8:41 PM

the hell is up with Colmes weird eye brow?

Alden Pyle on October 6, 2006 at 8:43 PM

I always thought Hannity had great “bedroom eyes”. Someone should make a poster from the cover of his first book. He looks right at you!

Lothar on October 6, 2006 at 8:59 PM

Y’all got in touch with yer feminine sides here tonight, dint ya? Or in touch with your selves, or the button above the box, or whatever…

Anywho, gotta love a guy who can do color on Monday Night Football and pull out Chaucer or Dickens to explain the blood on the QBs pants.

I think AP alludes to the Rush Limbaugh kerfuffle with Miller, oui AP?

Jaibones on October 7, 2006 at 1:11 AM

I believe Dennis Miller is back on Fox News Channel providing witty commentary on Hannity & Colmes.

doingwhatican on October 7, 2006 at 8:53 AM

“Drudge called in when he was sitting in for Sean last year and read Miller the right act. He called him a fake conservative”

Matt the Media Whore called Miller a pseudo-conservative? Miller should wear that one with pride.

rightwingprof on October 7, 2006 at 1:44 PM

Dennis Miller IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE! When will you sorry, desperate to be liked by the left people wake up? He is pro-gay, pro-abortion, pro-taxes, pro-immorality, the ONLY CONSERVATIVE ISSUE THAT HE EMBRACES IS THE WAR ON TERROR! That’s it. The fact that he has often been MISTAKEN FOR A CONSERVATIVE, continues to rankle him and at every opportunity, like his most recent Hannity and Colmes appearance, to distance himself from the conservative movement.

Instead of trying to figure out where some comic in Hollyweird stands, WHY DON’T YOU PEOPLE FIRST FIGURE OUT WHAT YOU STAND FOR?

A bunch of alleged Christians, welcoming sodomites into their midst, now the Foley scandal is tearing you a new one. Are you the “Christian” party or not? If so, READ A BIBLE AND GET A CLUE.. If not….STOP PRETENDING.

Soothsayer on October 7, 2006 at 3:00 PM

Soothsayer-
Thanks for the Fred Phelps viewpoint!

I tried playing with the button above the box and all I got was a monitor covered in spit….

TBinSTL on October 7, 2006 at 4:31 PM

Of course, for the most part that is true, but what he did with it was enjoy firing thoughts at them knowing they weren’t really keeping up, and being immensely smug about knowing it.

The only thing I sussed him for on his otherwise phenomenal show “Dennis Miller Live” was his ritual mistreatment of (and contempt for) his call-in guests, jumping on them even before judging whether they had a “worthy” (in his eyes) point to make. Always thought that was tacky.

Perhaps call-in guests never really suited his personality. Also, that segment always seemed contrived to me, terribly short (he also seemed to be rushing them off the phone) and never destined to work out in a show that had to accommodate him, his ego, [usually] a great guest, their ego, AND the good-natured calls from well-wishers inside 1/2 an hour. Maybe if Dennis had had 10 more minutes to fill, he’d have relaxed and been less of an a–hole. (But that’s just rank speculation :-)

RD on October 7, 2006 at 8:17 PM

Soothsayer,

Hey, I need your help getting this speck out of my eye. Soon as you yank that log out of yours, ok?

Furiously deriding people in such a way never makes the point you wish it to. Do you believe for an instant that calling someone an “alleged Christian” will make them suddenly sit up and think “wow, I’ve been blowing it all this time, I really need to straighten up and fly right”?

There is a lightyear of difference between having a point, and making it effectively. If you think that someone here is “desperate to be liked by the left”, can you also think that they will repent in a fit of guilt over your name-calling?

I would agree that Dennis Miller doesn’t represent my values, but I never invited him into my midst. I wouldn’t be likely to watch a show of his simply because he tends to the vulgar and indecent, things I avoid no matter the politics of the person involved.

The fact that he has often been MISTAKEN FOR A CONSERVATIVE, continues to rankle him and at every opportunity, like his most recent Hannity and Colmes appearance, to distance himself from the conservative movement.

I’ll take your word for that, you obviously know much more about Dennis Miller’s current status than I do. I frankly don’t care what he calls himself as far as political labels, to me he is what he is.

All that said, a discussion regarding a humorous TV clip, on this non-religious blog site shouldn’t be subject to such a legalistic tirade. As my friends would say whenever someone got a bit too wound up, “Throttle back, Turbo”.

Freelancer on October 8, 2006 at 2:45 AM

that was funny. I would give my left arm to have seen the look on hannity’s face when he heard that. Course as mean as he is you have to wonder what kind of a beating anyone who would lay a hand on him would take from his wife.

:-)

hell hath no furry? or fury? Hell, I don’t remember anymore.
