Yes, homosexuality is abhorrent to God, and repeatedly condemned in Scripture. But right alongside that every other moral sin is equally condemned.

In 21 years of military service I witnessed many occasions of men proclaiming their hatred of queers, and knowing that a good number of them were unfaithful to their wives every chance they got. Is one worse than the other? Not in God’s eyes.

Of course, I agree that any deviant behavior on the part of a public servant should demand their immediate ouster, once that behavior is known about. But let us not be hypocrits. Adulterers, womanizers, and a laundry list of other miscreants are every bit as unfit to govern as a predatory sodomite. But consider this. If you were a member of the House of Representatives, just exactly what action could or would you take on the simple knowledge that another House member was a homosexual, but with no suggestion or evidence that they have comitted a crime? You and I can agree that the lifestyle is immoral, but at present it is not considered by society to be illegal.

Certainly I would prefer that the conservative political party would denounce deviancy in all its forms and be consistent in regards to standards, but that is not the world in which I will wake up tomorrow, so I will deal with the reality presented.

The words “hate the sin, love the sinner” are not verbatim stated in the Bible, but the concept is certainly clear to see throughout Christ’s teachings. Jesus forgave a harlot, a tax collector, and after his ascension, a murderer and hater of Christians. Of course he declared his forgiveness to many others face to face as well, but my point is this; he did not forgive the religous legalists, those who put the law above the Spirit. He pronounced on them woe upon woe, and named them children of Satan.

When you open your comment by declaring that you are glad this issue will tear down people you despise, you err in your Christianity. Take no pleasure in another’s pain. The Pharisee raised his eyes to heaven and thanked God that he was not as other men, a sinner. The tax collector bent his head down, beat his chest and declared his repentance, begging God to forgive him. Only one of those two men came near to righteousness. Go thou and do likewise.

Creeps

I’ve seen photos of the Prez sitting in his office – photos that were taken outside. Those are understandable. The man is a public servant, he’s at work, and the public has the right to know that he’s working.

But a man’s home, OTOH, is his private castle and unless he’s invited the mediots around to take snapshots of him in his house, they have no business doing so. It smacks of standing-behind-a-tree to catch a glimpse tabloid journalism. These two photos are prime examples of just how low the media have fallen in their efforts to sink Republicans during an election year.
