But isn’t France an exception to that? I think they have put a lot of effort into trying to say that an Arab who is born and raised in France is a Frenchman, not an Arab-Frenchman.

Yeah, I know the suburban zones where all the Arab-Muslims are living are pretty much segregated from the rest of French society, and they aren’t perfect, but of all the countries in Europe, I think France is the one that has tried to integrate others ethnicities the most.

Behind England, France had the most overseas colonies and exposure to foreign cultures. For example, Vietnam/Indo-China.

Anyway, I’m not trying to go on a “I love France” tirade and try to convince everyone how great they are. I’m just commenting on how many problems in integration there are in Europe. It may be a function of the size of the Muslim population in France vs the U.S. Here, the Muslim population is what? One or two percent? In France it is what? Ten to twelve percent?

1) The French work hard at trying to defend their French secular culture. Example: They have gone and banned the hijab in schools. The British do not and have not. (although that may have started to change)

2) The French have deported many more radical Islamists than the British.

3) The French have much tougher laws regarding terrorism and are much more aggressive at going after them using their legal system than the British.

4) The French don’t collect a lot of racial/ethnic statistics, because official policy seems to be that there is no such thing as a hypenated Frenchman. Meaning no Morrocan-Frenchman, Algerian-Frenchman, native-Frenchman. Instead, there is only French. If you are a Frenchman, enough said.

And yet, as Allahpundit pointed out, this Frenchness really hasn’t taken hold with them.

The Muslims in France seem to utter reject their country of France. And the Muslims in England seem to be very much in the same mindset. Two countries with very different domestic and international policies, but both seem to have such big problems with their domestic Muslim populations. And I don’t know why.

And yet the same mindset doesn’t seem to be anywhere near as prevelant here in the U.S. Yeah, I know we have our Muslim Scholars in New York and their crap. But on the whole, I don’t think we have anywhere near the problems Europe does.

I’m not sure I have a good answer why both France and England have such similar problems, and we don’t. But it seems to be a pretty significant thing.

I travel through Europe many times per year and it never ceases to amaze me the number of muslims there. London is basically quasi-muslim, France is definately no longer French…….the list goes on.

This is all the result of extremely liberal immigration policy in the EU and the UK. Soon, they will have real political power via the polling booth.

Actually, it is a great example of what will happen to our democracy (and everyone elses) if the Islamofascist savages are allowed to have their way in France completely… and if we don’t start putting the skids on multiculturalism.
