Euphoric Reality has a copy of the flier they’ve put out. Apparently Ed Rendell criticized Phelps and thus Jehovah laid low the Amish heathen through his messenger, the homicidal milkman.
He’s starting to realize that he’s alienating people, I think. Here’s his attempt to win back 49% of the population.
Update: Appeaser.
Update: That Phelps video sounds eerily like the “Worst Person in the World” segment on Olbermann’s show.

Phelps is a Grade-A nut. He’s doing this for publicity and he’s getting boatloads of it free.
Best thing to do with this is to NOT give him free press.

Who is Fred Phelps?
Lehuster on October 4, 2006 at 12:11 PM
Phelps is an embarrassment for the decent people of Kansas.
Twisted, deranged, and just plain sick.
Why anyone would give this guy airtime is beyond my comprehension.

One of the lowest forms of life on the planet. He and his followers hold political protests at funerals. Usually at the funerals of fallen soldiers, but apparently that’s not good enough for him now.

Will they protest the death of “The View” after La Rosie runs it into the ground?
SouthernGent on October 4, 2006 at 12:33 PM
WOW!? Where did you find the trailer for Jack Ass 3?
Um, not really the Jack Ass movies are stupid funny (sort of) while this is just plain STUPID (ABSOLUTELY).
Freedom of speech…every syllable earned and protected.
CHUCKLE…what we have to put up with…

“The Westboro Baptist Church plans to protest the funerals of the Amish school children. Shirley Phelps-Roper and Mike have agreed that the church will not protest at the funeral in exchange for an hour of airtime on the Mike Gallagher Show. Will they abide by theri agreement? Stay tuned.”
Drtuddle on October 4, 2006 at 12:56 PM
I was updating my original post with this info not too long ago:
12:18 P.M. EST – Mike Gallagher has Shirley Phelps Roper on the radio right now, and he’s offering a deal. He’s going to trade them an hour of national airtime if she promises they’ll leave those girls’ funerals alone. He first offered her and her “church” $50,000, but she wouldn’t take that. But Shirley is going to agree to the airtime, but she says only if it’s before the funerals. She said “we won’t go to the funerals.” Yeah, right…
12:38 P.M. EST – Shirley-girl is going to do it. The WBC is going to put out a press release to that effect, and that’s part of the deal. They are going to do this and in exchange, they’re promising to leave ALL of the girls’ funerals and memorials alone. The rub is Mike’s producer had to agree to let them have the hour on-air with no arguments, no rebuttals, and Mike doesn’t know if they’ll take calls. Mike said his producer took one for the team because he has to produce and sit there and listen to it. The first of the funerals, Mike believes, will be this Friday so look for that “hour of sour” sometime tomorrow. Blech

How many followers does this filth have?

May God have mercy on Fred Phelps soul. Preferably the God that I worship and not the one that he does.

Excuse me, but smegma has a legitimate bodily function. Comparing Phelps to smegma is an insult to smegma. Also, you have too good a vocabulary to resort to using such a word to describe Phelps. If not, then you can open up a contest for Hot Air readers to devise an appropriate phrase for Phelps.

I have a friend who is of the Baptist faith and she said he’s an embarrassment to the faith!

Mike Gallagher is on Fox now explaining how he stopped these fools and their “A-List” clowns-Geraldo, Laura Schawrtz (sp?) & some lame brain from Forbes and that stupid Martha, are just nodding their heads but not one of them are saying that’s a great job or great thing you’re doing by saving these families from these fools-nothing silence. Now Geraldo is detouring the conversation to school safety and nothing more about the great thing Mike Gallagher did. Even if you don’t agree with his views, he did a great thing to save these Amish families from these fools. And that stupid Schwartz just said “three days expense in Iraq and we can get armed guards at the schools”. These people are complete morons who can’t even say “good job” to someone who in my humble opinion did a great thing.

Phelps is to Christianity; what Osama is to Islam.
E L Frederick on October 4, 2006 at 1:57 PM
I wish we could protest Phelps’s funeral.
Nah, we’d probably end up celebrating it.
frankj on October 4, 2006 at 2:01 PM
I beg to differ here, EL. Arguably, Osama is practicing his religion faithfully. Phelps, on the other hand, is practicing something completely antithetical to the tenets of Christianity.
If I may, I’d like to revise your comment to read: Phelps is to Christianity; what Osama is to Christianity.

Who is Fred Phelps? Check this out…….
“MR. ROGERS” PICKETED BY FRED PHELPS AND MINIONS
Tucson Observer
PITTSBURGH, PA – News of the Weird from time to time reports on the vile, anti-homosexuality crusades of the indefatigable Rev. Fred Phelps (Westboro Baptist Church, Topeka, Kan.) and his extended family.
The latest: The clan plans to be in Pittsburgh Sunday to picket several organizations that had been associated with the late Fred Rogers, whom the Phelpses believe led kids in “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” to feel that being Gay was acceptable.
Said one of Phelps’ daughters, “This country has forgotten God and effectively flipped him off, and Fred Rogers is in part responsible.”

Wow huh? By the way, last time this bully was in town here to protest at a Military Funeral, the local Bikers Clubs got together and built a human wall between his sheep and the family of one of our finest. When will we stand up to such human garbage and say enough is enough? Well, we have started to here in Lancaster, no wonder he is opting for air time instead of his original plan to protest these poor girls funerals. He knows who will be waiting for him here in PA!!!
soulsirkus on October 4, 2006 at 2:24 PM
He’s not human.
Kini on October 4, 2006 at 2:31 PM
smegma has a legitimate bodily function.
What is that function, exactly? Never been completely clear to me…
Lehuster on October 4, 2006 at 2:56 PM
One of the most profound things I have ever seen: the Amish preaching forgiveness in light of all this. The absolute faith and courage of these people is unbelievable. It makes you truly humble.
Phelps needs a little of their Godliness. What a disgrace.
And Mr Rogers??? Mr Rogers?? Is being as crazy as a shithouse rat a crime? It should be.
honora on October 4, 2006 at 4:28 PM
Is it true that Phelps is a Democrat?
Just trying to throw a wedge in the issue…
NTWR on October 4, 2006 at 4:37 PM
Phelps is more proof that the devil exist then that God doesn’t exist
Someone get the Freedom Riders there anywhere just to serve as bodyguards. I’ll volunteer after law midterms!
I’ll believe Phelps won’t protest when I see that he doesn’t. That SOB’s word isn’t worth a damn. And his actions are sufficient to cause hte Amish to riot.
Defector01 on October 4, 2006 at 4:40 PM
You have to give it up to the Amish. Very good people indeed. They can forgive a killer; and Coolio was more upset at Weird Al than they were….
E L Frederick on October 4, 2006 at 4:58 PM
Stirring the pot…
From Wikipedia (I know…) He DID oppose Gore in the 1998 election though, but he supports Fidel Castro so I’d say he leans towards the- CRAZY party. Literally.
NTWR on October 4, 2006 at 5:14 PM
I only made it through half the video, but I think I pretty well understand now that what I thought I knew was wrong.
Blasphemy is not taking the name of the Lord in vain, it’s taking the name of WBC in vain.
This guy seems awfully good at quoting and parphrasing Scripture. I wonder when he last bothered to actually read it?
Oh, and a final note to Mr. Phelps: The Constitution forbids Congress from abridging speech — that is a power retained by the States. Best check Missouri’s Constitution.
Jezla on October 5, 2006 at 12:03 AM
Oh, another note.
Mr. Phelps: This is Christianity.
Jezla on October 5, 2006 at 12:39 AM
If he is justified in Christ, I hope Christ takes him home and has a talk with him.
If he isn’t justified and just an egotistical nut job, I hope Christ takes him, kicks him in the arse and tosses him in the hottest part of hell next to that 6th Century man who is in Dante’s 8th Circle of Hell.
