Hewitt’s urging Hastert to fight back and Ponnuru says the House Republican leadership is listening. We’re probably going to lose anyway — GOP control of the House is currently trading at 43 and dropping — so why not? The left has been screaming about October surprises for four years now, yet they’re the only ones who ever seem to pull any: the eleventh-hour DWI relevation against Bush in 2000, the “missing explosives” story in 2004, and now the Woodward book and this thing. Filthy Foley’s been purged; if Hastert’s as innocent as he claims, why not go down swinging?
The full interview was 13+ minutes but I’ve boiled it down to a solid three.
Tom Maguire’s all over it.

The Republican leadership needs to go on offense and not let the Democrats get anymore advantages over them. They also need to investigate and see if this indeed was a Democrat who held onto this and then leaked it.
I don’t listen to poll number, because they’re often wrong. If the Republicans do lose the House, and or the Senate, they won’t have anyone but themselves to blame for not staying on offense.

And we can throw Lawrence Walsh’s bogus indictment of Cap Weinberger days before the ‘92 elections in there as well.
Damn right. Come back with your shields or on them.

Uh huh…more of the same B.S. The GOP leadership acted on one instance. They told Foley not to do his creepy solicitations ever again…you know, quit freaking out kids and their parents. Yeah that’s the kind of leadership worth rallying around so the GOP can retain power.

This from Tom Maguire’s blog. Now there’s a platform plank discussion that won’t put you to sleep!!!
This discussion has just officially jumped the shark.

so don’t vote for Republicans & let the “Cut & Run / Surrender / Raise The White Flag / terrorist appeasers / Pro Amnesty” liberal Democrats win both the House & Senate, then don’t b*tch about it.

Honora, you are officially banned.

It is time for the Republican leadership to DEMAND that Ross authenticate these instant messages.

And I the sexiest woman alive…..we should talk. Or at least IM……….or maybe that’s not such a hot idea..;^)
honora on October 3, 2006 at 4:21 PM
EFG, what are you on?
I don’t care what anyone else is going to do. I’m going to vote, I’ll vote straight republican ticket [this time], and I’ll do so proudly. I’ve voted for democrats, independents, and conservatives in the past, and I’ll continue to vote as seems best for me, my family, and the country I love.
It has been years since the lying MSM has had any real effect on my decisions, and I see no reason to give their ultra-biased reports any creedence. Indeed, due to a few reports of theirs I’ve actually voted in a direction counter to their apparent bias. [Message to MSM: I'm no tool, and liars make me mad] Has anyone else noticed that the Foley ‘reports’ seem to encourage Homophobia? Democrats are happily ignoring that, and I’m above that now, thankfully.
Liberals despise Rush because he has the audacity to question the MSM. I listen to Rush for the same reason, then I decide which ‘facts’ seem to be right. ‘Progressives’ hate that too.

DannoJyd, I just ate a couple of pounds of chocolate and am on a sugar high right now that is outta this world!
I’m sure you understand.
EFG on October 3, 2006 at 4:36 PM
I am with Danno. I had intended to vote a straight Libertarian ticket this fall as a protest. This past week I have sent checks to the House Republican Re-election committee, the Senate re-election committe and the RNC and, with the exception of Governor, will be voting a straight Republican ticket. This may well backfire on the Dems.
bopbottle on October 3, 2006 at 4:47 PM
Come November 7th, I will be voting Republican.
While my fellow conservatives understand this irrational decision, I feel it is necesary to let all Dems know this does not signify I am voting for Mark Foley or approving of his disgusting behavior.
Those stupid asses think we’ll turn on Bush, the party and it’s policies over one sad little pervert in Florida.
What else have you got up your sleeves? Bring it on.
fogw on October 3, 2006 at 4:53 PM
EFG, a couple of pounds of Chocolate? And You Didn’t Save Any For ME? As I now run a chocolate themed forum, I do understand. ;oD
Bopbottle, we, and our friends shall lead the way to keeping in power the party that gets rids of sexual predators, and doesn’t try to use homophobia as a political tool.
Democrats will be lining up by the thousands to get the PEST cure after the 7th, and EFG will continue to attract the ladies with his pounds of chocolate which makes him the sexiest man alive. Hahaha…

Real Clear Politics has linked to this Slate article.
Interesting theory. And the new poll down in Florida says volumes, I think!

Mark Levin (as usual) nails this one in this post:
My emphasis.
I could see demanding Hastert’s head when he stuck up for Willy “The Freezer” Jefferson – that was irresponsible and stupid of him. But he didn’t stick up for Foley here, he rightly forced him to resign and sicced the DOJ on him to see what criminal charges might be produced. This calling for his head now and shying away from the political fight is McCain-like moral preening at its worst and plays right into the hands of democrats.

Republicans have been acting dumb .. on many issues
But
Democrats always end up acting dumber ..
ABC News needs to provide proof that their information is real. (based on exRep Foley’s actions, I don’t doubt that he is guilty of these charges.) But the bigger question is: Why is all this coming now? With a start on a blog which began in July 06 (stoppredatorsnow), a website which is funded by Democratic party supporters – This reeks of Democrats withholding information and allowing these child abuse to continue for political advantage. IF that is true, the delay is worse than the actual actions by exRep Foley.
