Video: Freaky deaky Einstein robot

posted at 10:21 pm on October 2, 2006 by Allahpundit

It’s old, but there is a news hook — it was here in NYC for three days this weekend as part of the NextFest festival.

My first thought upon seeing it? How cool it’ll be to shoot these things in Westworld. My second thought? Sex robots. Of course.

What can I say? I’m an American.

Man, I missed NextFest! I was at last year’s in Chicago, and it was a mind trip.

Yikes, that thing is a little freaky.

Is that a Honda Asimo underneath Einstein’s dome?

I’ll never forgive you for this AP…

Seriously though, I’ve watched some shows on these cyborgs being developed… Crazy/cool stuff, but I can’t say I don’t fear a world like the one in iRobot or the Matrix (of course, we could be in the Matrix right now, but we’d never know).

In the face it looks like a next-gen version of the borg they had at last year’s Fest. That one couldn’t walk, so you’d sit next to it in this little house-like set and have a live conversation with it. It was very creepy, with a little side of cool if you’re a geek.

Great…just freakin great…..

Iran’s building the bomb, but the Japs are building physicists…..

We’re doomed……

Dude, how do you look at that thing and think sex robot? They had one they showed last year that was only a waist up model, but she could talk and was just pretty as could be. I could sort of understand slipping down that dork fantasy rabbit hole after seeing her but not the one above. As to the fellow who mentioned the matrix, a pox on your house sir. I detest that trilogy. Except for drew barrymore being dragged on around by wire like some kind of bloated pinata during her fight scenes in the almost equally abysmal Charlies Angels, the matrix movies have some of the lamest fight sequences I’ve ever had to sit through. All that was missing was some animated frames to announce each blow with a ‘spiff’, ‘pow’ or ‘bopp’. And who could forget the characters, such as the effeminate annoying twins who turn into insubstantial green vampires and spoke in the third person. Why? Because it was cool. God, I hated those movies.

Oh, I think we’re better off than you think… If Bush Co. could pull of 9/11 undetected (an impossible task) then we can certainly do a lot more.

RightWinged on October 2, 2006 at 11:17 PM

I thought Einstein was taller than that.

Looks as if we have a new democrat constituency ripe for the picking. Get them proof of residency, registered to vote, programed, grease their plams gear boxes, then watch the results pile in.

Heck, there won’t even be any more need for the regressives to come up with actual ideas to lie about run on.

heh
You want freeaky, go to realdoll.com You know some geek is thinking of ways to merge one of them with the asimove exoskalaton system…At least Allah’s dreams will be fullfilled :)

In terms of robotology, their have been great strides in prosthetic limbs. MIT developed a pretty accurate hand not to long ago. Between robotics and the newer bio feedback systems they are developing we may be looking at “The 6 million dollar man” soon. (Have to adjust for inflation though)

Is it time again for my usual contribution? Eh, why not, since RightWinged brought up Matrix and austinnelly panned it….

“Hear that, Mr. Anderson? That is the sound of inevitability.”

There. I feel better now. ;o) ‘Cept for the willies I got from that Albot.
