Video: Zawahiri calls Bush “lying failure,” whines about “torture”

posted at 4:25 pm on September 29, 2006 by Allahpundit

Call it a “special comment.”

Short clip this time. The section on the Pope and Darfur wasn’t subtitled, so I cut it. Was it a last-minute addition, perhaps? Or did Chubs simply get bored with his translation duties?

I like his little toy cannon. Thanks to Rusty the Jawa Master for the vid.

Laura Mansfield says she’s working on a translation of the Arabic segment so keep an eye out. In the meantime, here’s a synopsis from SITE:

zawahiri-nosub.jpg

In the Arabic portion, Dr. Ayman al-Zawahiri discusses the issue of the Pope Benedict XVI’s slanderous comments to Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, by prefacing such attacks as beginning with the Satanic Verses of Salmon Rushdie, followed by desecration of the Qur’an at Guantanamo Bay, and banning of the hijab in French schools. He states that the current pope is reminiscent of Pope Urban II, who “provoked the people of Europe to fight the Muslims” in the Crusades. Zawahiri disregards Christinaity due to its “supersitions” and alleged irrationality, but avers that Muslims are not enemies of Jesus as Pope Urban II claimed. On the pope’s comments directly, Zawahiri adds: “if Benedict attacked us, we will respond to his insults with good things. We will call upon him, and all of the Christians to become Muslims who do not recognize the Trinity or the crucifixion, and say that Allah united with the human.”

The DU thread is already heating up. Meanwhile:

Pakistani intelligence sources told ABC News in August that they had “very good intelligence on the whereabouts of Ayman al Zawahiri” and were “reasonably confident” that they would be able to catch him in the next few months.

Sure they are.

Update: Walid Phares has watched the Pope segment and says it’s a barnburner:

Calling him the dajjal (end of times liar or charlatan), Zawahiri unleashes theological attacks against the Church not referred to by the Muslim authorities that responded to the Pope over the past few weeks. Very revealing, these massive arguments haven’t been heard in public for decades and perhaps more than a century, but they have been taught at Madrassas around the world. He severely attacked almost the entire dogma of the Christian faith from the nature of Christ, the sanctity of Church, the crucifixion, the resurrection, the Holy Spirit, and many more theological basis of Christian faith, in a manner that was never uttered openly before.

Nice forehead. All that slamming his face into the ground has turned him into a friggin Klingon.

Is that Olby in his Halloween costume? Kind of early. Definately sounds like him.

roninacreage on September 29, 2006 at 4:31 PM

Finger pointing and calling Bush names. Didn’t I see this earlier in the week?

bbz123 on September 29, 2006 at 4:31 PM

At first glance, I was hoping that smudge on his forehead was an entry wound.

Is Gore’s (Or Kerry’s) speech writer working directly with Ayman now, or does he just plagarize Al and J’effen speeches?

OOPS Ayman! Better head to another cave… There is enough stuff in that photo to identify where you are. Run Ayman, Run!

LegendHasIt on September 29, 2006 at 4:35 PM

I’ll bet he’s voting Democrat this next election.

StoutRepublican on September 29, 2006 at 4:41 PM

The guy is just copying Democrat talking points. The Democrats don’t scare us; why should the terrorists?

This is a good opportunity for me to pose a question that’s been on my mind for a while. I recently finished reading the Quran, and there is no doubt in my mind that it is the primary source of inspiration and justification for violent jihad. In fact, it goes beyond inspiring violence to requiring violence.

“Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”

Given that the Quran requires all Muslims to fight for jihad, and given that all Muslims believe that the Quran is the direct word of Allah, why do so many of them remain in defiance of Allah’s command? Are they having doubts about their faith, or are they merely procrastinating? If they are procrastinating, should we anticipate that eventually they will all become jihadis? In other words, are there a billion jihadis out there just waiting for the right moment?

RedWinged Blackbird on September 29, 2006 at 4:47 PM

What do Terrorists and fanatical Muslim leaders have in common with Bill Clinton? They all wag their fingers in righteous indignation at their ‘enemys’ when they feel threatened.

I can’t read those itsy bitsy poorly colored subtitles very well so all I know he’s saying is, “Ackka ack ack. Ackka ack ack ack, ackka ack ack…” I guess I’ll wait for the transcript. And the DU website seems to be down at the moment.

The Pakistani’s helping al-Qaeda is nothing new. It’s an old tactic, much like the drug smugglers working with officials who would otherwise be actually cracking down and busting up the drug smuggling rings. For every few little busts, a huge shipment is let through. The Pakistani’s pop a few guys here and there to make it look good, but they’re small fry foot soldiers and no one of any real consequence. They may pop one or two medium guys, but as a whole, Pakistan officials aid and abet al-Qaeda, even if it’s as simple as turning a blind eye. You can bank on it.

SilverStar830 on September 29, 2006 at 4:48 PM

Soooo…does this video harken the coming nuclear attack – the one for which Muslims were previously warned to leave NYC and DC? Question the timing…

Damn that’s one ugly ass old fart. He should be the DNC chair…he’s more moderate than Dean.

BirdEye on September 29, 2006 at 4:50 PM

Oh, and I forgot to say, “Boo-F***ING-hoo, Ayman.”

BirdEye on September 29, 2006 at 5:01 PM

Taping a jihad video after Ash Wednesday mass can’t be good for recruitment.

a4g on September 29, 2006 at 5:07 PM

All that was missing was the Dean Scream “Yeeeeaaaaahhhhhrrrgggg!”

Is this a discuss the points thread, or makes jokes about (enemy of choice) thread?

Pakistani intelligence. Somewhere therein lies a joke.

JammieWearingFool on September 29, 2006 at 5:26 PM

GregH,

Both.

BirdEye on September 29, 2006 at 5:54 PM

Is this a discuss the points thread, or makes jokes about (enemy of choice) thread?

GregH

Yes to both. We somehow manage to correlate facts while chewing bubble gum here.

It struck me as well how the mannerisms were Cigarman-like while the points he made fell right in line with the democrat talking points of those running for office, thus I do not feel out of line when stating that a vote for a democrat is a vote that America’s enemy will appreciate.

Has anyone heard about Zawahiri stumping for a democrat at a recent fund raiser? That sure seems likely to me now.

DannoJyd on September 29, 2006 at 5:56 PM

From the DU link:

Just-plain-Kathy Fri Sep-29-06 04:23 PM

We could see it was reported by FOX, but it rings true. It sounds like something a nation who seeks revenge would say.

Our Democratic leaders should take this statement seriously and use it to our advantage.

Democrats should talk about PNAC and their RAD document and talk about how Al Qaeda preemptively attacked us on 9-11.

I wish someone (preferable a democratic leader) would take the reins and bring some sanity to our White House.

Coup …Coup… Wouldn’t that be nice. Thailand’s military did it. Too bad Rummy owns ours. Democratic leaders are our only answer.

Wouldn’t dream of questioning her patriotism, maybe her sense of irony but never her patriotism.

Maybe the canon is a signal. Like the USa is getting danger close. Or He is going to kill himself or attack the USA or just any infidel you can find. Did you see the Clinton finger wag?

Drtuddle on September 29, 2006 at 6:10 PM

I don’t have the time to do it, but an interesting exercise would be to take quotes from Zawahiri, bin Laden, Zarqawi, et alia from the terrorist camp, as well as quotes from Murtha, Kennedy, Pelosi, Dean, Reid, Boxer, Kerry, McKinney, Levin, Carter, et alia, remove the attributions, mix them up and then try to figure out who said what.

Very interesting. And informative. But remember, donkey boys and girls, at no point in this entire gestalt have I questioned your patriotism!

Spurius Ligustinus on September 29, 2006 at 7:50 PM

Spurius,

I’ve thought about doing just that, but I don’t have the time either. It’s getting pretty hard to tell the difference between a Democrat and a jihadi. The Dems have never really accepted the fact that we are at war, so they believe they can attack the Administration with impunity. This has placed them in a vicarious alliance with our enemies. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.”

As the war unfolds and escalates, they are relegated to watching from the sidelines. As the saying goes, “Lead, follow or get out of the way!” They are unable to lead and unwilling to follow.

RedWinged Blackbird on September 29, 2006 at 8:18 PM

Hey, this could make for an interesting Vent. Osama with Kerry’s voice (a more sensitive war on terror?), Zawahiri with Pelosi’s voice, and definitely Howard Dean screaming “Alahu Akbar!” How do we work Michelle into this?

RedWinged Blackbird on September 29, 2006 at 9:05 PM

Stupid neo-cons! You know why everytime UBL or Forehead Dent, they seem to be reading DNC talking points? Because these are fake/staged tapes! When will you guys learn that Rove puts these out whenever Bush needs a boost in poll numbers.

RightWinged on September 29, 2006 at 10:34 PM

(continued)… just ask Cronkite.

LOL! Nope it’s just some bat guano left over from the last cave he’s been hiding in.

AZPatriot on September 29, 2006 at 10:42 PM

Now all Rove needs to do is to pull the corpse out of the freezer and plant it in a cave in Pakistan where it’ll be found in October..

What a bunch of gutless, loud mouthed bastards.
If you’re a man, of which I doubt, why don’t

Oh yeah, if someone had the time you could make a “game” with hundreds of quotes. I did one with just 5 quotes back in February. Additionally I compared Kerry and Bin Laden quotes back in January.

And Woodward thinks the Bush 43 Admin. is in denial

Once again Mr. Rove knows what he’s doing…he has a direct line to bin Laden and they’ve been misleading us all this time…foxy brilliant!

It is soothing to see haw quickly the thread subject ages from tape to tape. Life must not be a cake-walk for him.

Entelechy on September 30, 2006 at 4:52 PM

Is that Murtha, Kerry, Lamont, Olberman, Kennedy, Pelosi, McCain, or Graham in the background posing as a lampshade?
