It only runs three minutes, but for some reason it’s been broken into two parts. The audio’s a little dicey, too.
Still, it’s worth it.
Even Reuters is enjoying this story:
Cohen’s stunt was timed to coincide with an official visit by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, who is scheduled to meet with Bush on Friday.
Nazarbayev and other Kazakh officials have sought to raise the profile of the oil-rich former Soviet republic and assure the West that, contrary to Borat’s claims, theirs is not a nation of drunken anti-Semites who treat their women worse than their donkeys.
Kazakhstan has launched an ad campaign to correct the misimpressions that Cohen’s character has created. That’ll surely raise Cohen’s profile and inspire him to do more Borat stuff. Which in turn will make more people curious about Kazakhstan.
If I didn’t know better, I’d say they had him on the payroll.
The ADL gave him a clean bill of health yesterday. Click the image to watch.

campy?
Alex K on September 29, 2006 at 9:08 PM
The term camp, or campy, refers to the deliberate and sophisticated use of kitsch, mawkish or corny themes and styles in art, clothing or conversation. It’s a so-called comedy style providing amusement by virtue of having artificially (and vulgarly) mannered or banal or sentimental qualities. Camp is also an aesthetic in which something has appeal not because of its originality, but because of its unoriginality, bad taste, or ironic value. Pee-Wee Herman is a good example of this guys type of campy style, with some obvious differences, but the style’s similar.

er, well, Cohen’s comedy strikes me as more “awesome” than “campy”.
But I’ll say this: Borat’s nominal home country probably has the edge on Cohen’s home country as regards the status of women. Laugh it up, England! Your superior culture has about twenty more years to laugh at the Slavs, I’d say. Then some smartass Slav will be cracking jokes about those Dhimmi Brits…
That’s right, no post on this site can go without a paranoid reference in the comments to the big issue…
