For the record, I’ve heard from very gossipy gay guys who really do know who’s gay in the city, that Tom Cruise isn’t gay, he’s just crazy.

I met you once. My sister did some voice over work with you on a few episodes of a certain short lived animated series… Jay. I also briefly met you on the set once when I tagged along with my sis on one gig she did on a comedy TV series. She’s also done several other walk-on’s with you on a couple of other series episodes. I won’t say anything else about who you are (or who my sister is), but yeah, small world. I would like to say though, if you don’t mind, that I’m glad to see you are well since what happened. My sis told me about it a couple of years ago.

Anyway… I suppose you could vouch for Mr Cruise and I’ll take your word for it then ;)

Anyway, like I said, I think we all knew he was short but the side by side comparison is hilarious. Reminds me of this fake “man with giant cat” photo we’ve all received in an email at some point.

I’d say it was taken with a wide – ultra-wide lens. I’ve got one that will let me take a full-length portrait from within arm’s reach of a person but it will introduce some distortion.

If you look at their feet you can see he’s barely behind her but he is behind her.

Now look at her left elbow and hand – notice how large the elbow looks? You’ll also notice that her head appears rather large. All symptoms of a very wide angle lens. It greatly exaggerates the distance between things. A long lens does the same thing but in the opposite direction, making it look like a house is right at the foot of far off mountains.

My guess is the photographer used the lens to be able to get full-length shots at close range and an editor chose this one because it told a ’story’ he wanted to tell.

I thought everyone knew that Tom Cruise was short. That’s why he always used to date/marry short women. Made him look taller in the publicity photos.Lawrence on September 28, 2006 at 2:57 PM

First of all the PHOTO IS A FAKE. Her midsection has clearly been elongated. While Tom C is not a tall man, he, contrary to rumor, actually prefers TALL WOMEN. His first wife MIMI ROGERS is a tall woman. She can be seen in the semi-finals of the Professional Poker Tour, where she is playing under a sponsors exemption. His second wife NICOLE KIDMAN is also a TALL WOMAN, towering over Tom, so you really have me confused!

Tom Cruise in NOT GAY!!! I have known Tom Cruise professionally for over twenty years. When we first met it was on the set of the film, “All the Right Moves”, in which he was the star and I was a “co-star”, acting in my first film. Tom is extremely gifted, to this day he remains the most dedicated actor with whom I ever had the pleasure of working. I have thanked God over the years that my fledgling acting experience was with him, because his work ethic rubbed off on me. Tom was known to call actors at 3am and ask if they wanted to rehearse, even then, his enthusiasm was hard to refuse. People have maligned Tom for years, even back then. First off, he’s very handsome, a lot of people are put off by that, being easy on the eye myself, I’m not. We shot a football movie together. Tom flew in his girlfriend at the time, who I’m sure would laugh in the face of those rumors, her name was Rebecca DeMournay,co-star of “Risky Business” and she is fine as wine! He went on to eventually marry Mimi Rogers and later Nicole Kidman if that’s gay, I’m in!

Tom Cruise is one of the most honorable men I have ever met. As I stated, his starring vehicle was my first role, anywhere! In the process of filming a testosterone filled football movie, the two of us got into a “little scuffle” one day. The details are unimportant, it was smoothed over by all on the set and Tom and I even had a “Food Fight”, after which everything was back to normal and filming continued. A small discomfort remained because in the argument that led to the scuffle, Tom was out of order and was throwing his new found star power around a bit. Who wouldn’t? It was his third movie as a star and he was already in the seven figure money! No biggie, happens all the time. After the film, Tom went on to become the biggest movie star of all time, bar and second to, none. I became a “star” of much lesser magnitude, starring in numerous t.v series and a couple of Academy Award nominated films, (film nominations only so far, not me…YET!).

In 1992, ten years after filming “All the Right Moves”, I was starring in the Broadway hit, “A Few Good Men”, this was BEFORE the film starring Tom. The film was put up as a play AFTER it was brought by Cruise because it would be five years before there was a break in his acting schedule. Written by Aaron Sorkin of “West Wing Fame”, the play was a huge hit. Average audiences numbered over 2500 patrons. At the L.A. Premiere, Rob Reiner, Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, were among the hundreds of celebrities present. Because of his associaton with the film, Tom was anxious to congratulate the cast backstage. Tom looked the same as he did when we shot the movie, I didn’t. Rail thin in ‘82, I was now about as muscular as Evander Holyfield, in ‘82 I had an Afro (last vestiges of the Soul Train generation folks), in ‘92 I was bald, playing a hard core Marine. So he didn’t recognize me and he wouldn’t have known my name from the program because during the interim, I had adopted a stage name (even minor celebrity is hard on your relatives!). The actors lined up back stage and the dignitaries walked down the line, well wishing and congratulating. After receiving Nicoles congrats as well as those of Rob Reiner, Tom stopped in front of me and stuck out his hand. “Incredible performance” he said, I said, “Tom it’s Keith”, he looked up at me more intently, then he grabbed me in a bear hug and began to WEEP. He sobbed uncontrollably and kept apologizing effusively. He said, “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry to have ever treated another human being the way I treated you”. AND HE WOULDN’T LET GO. (no it was not “gay’). The other actors, none of whom knew of my association with Cruise, were stunned. Here is the biggest star in the world, hugging and sobbing all over this, moderately known black actor! My career wouldn’t take off for about six months, when the recently filmed “Awakenings” would come out and be nominated for Best Picture, so I was “nobody”, get it? I kept consoling him, embarrassed as all heck that this guy was hugging me and wouldn’t let go! I kept saying, “Tom it’s all right, no big deal”. To me it was water long since under the bridge but not to Tom. Not to this guy who was publicly apologizing in front of EVERYONE. The events of that day long ago bothered this man ten years later, concerning the way he treated a minor actor in his starring vehicle. I have not known many people prior to, or since, with this kind of integrity. This is who Tom Cruise is. Keep this in mind the next time some one tells you a “rumor”, or he jumps on a couch!
