Video: McCain names three procedures “torture” bill would/should ban

posted at 10:00 am on September 25, 2006 by Allahpundit

Among others, of course; these are just the first three that came to mind. And according to this WaPo article, one of the ones he names hasn’t actually been used in years.

I’m being coy. Watch the clip.

Frist declined comment yesterday on this subject for reasons I don’t quite fathom:

Asked repeatedly on ABC’s “This Week” what the legislation would allow, Frist said, “I’m not going to comment on individual techniques,” and he condemned doing so.

“No responsible person is going to come in and basically say, ‘These are the 10 techniques we use and these are the 10 that are not used,’ ” said Frist, who is sometimes mentioned as a McCain rival for the Republican presidential nomination in 2008. “It helps the terrorists.”

Note what McCain says, though, about Bush having to publish a list of the procedures he wants to use in the Federal Register. Why try to keep it on the downlow when the info’s guaranteed to come out?

Since Bush would veto any Congressional bill that would alter his list, McCain and co. will need 67 votes in the Senate to get their way. That’s a tall order, although perhaps less tall come November than it is now.

Blowback

Anyone who concludes that only democrats are liberals are fools of the first water. There are evidently people on the “right” who are also out to make it easier for people to kill my kids. If this man were to catch fire, I’d go to the nearest CITGO station to piss.

Heaven forbid this creature ever gets the nomination. A lot of ‘pubs will stay at home for sure. It’ll be the ’92 election all over again unfortunately. Rudy G and the Mittster are the only things keeping the country from a Dem probably being elected.

“A lot of ‘pubs will stay at home for sure.”

Nooooooooo! Don’t stay home! That’s the worst possible thing we could do. No matter how bad the choices may be, even an undesirable Repub is better than a Dem. Besides, no way in hell will McCain ever get the nomination.

I can’t believe this guy used to be regarded as a solid conservative.

Seeing McCain on TV is now officially classifed as torture.

TANCREDO and WELDON in 2008!

(National security and international security in one team.)

Get the bumperstickers printed up on your own (easily done online, cheap, through a bunch of sites) and start the drive to have some realists in power.

Instead of those, like this doorman at the Hanoi Hilton, who is fighting “The War That Never Was” (where has ANYBODY, ever adhered to the Geneva Conventions?… when, Sen. McCain, did that EVER happen? The Imperial Japanese? The Nazis? The Soviets? The Chicoms? The Viet Cong? Pol Pot? The Warlords in “Black Hawk Down”? Al-Qaeda in Iraq? WHO? WHERE!?! WHEN!?!?!)

Sen. John McC. needs to me demoted to being a border guard on a moped with a waterpistol full of piss and vinegar.

TANCREDO AND WELDON IN 2008!

Seeing McCain on TV is now officially classifed as torture.

No kidding!!

Listening to McVain’s pious bloviating/moral preening should definitely make the list of prohibited techniques.

Yawn…I hope Senator McCain likes the prefix “senator,” because that’s it for him. Hopefully the voters of Arizona will remove this pathetic bozo from office soon…

Don’t underestimate Republican primary voters who might just vote this guy as their candidate. The hardcore who pays attention to McCain and his betrayals and childish diatribes are a minority. The Keating 5 thing was enough for me. Why people forget his involvement in that corrupt deal is beyond me. He should have gone to jail as far as I’m concerned.

AZ cannot even elect a Republican governor anymore. Their current Democrat governor is a lightweight and she’s still way ahead of the Republican challenger. AZ is headed to the blue side I’m afraid. McCain could declare as a Dem and he’d be re-elected to the Senate.
