Aznar: Muslims should apologize too

Geese and ganders, pots and kettles. Muslims seems to like forcing Westerners to apologize for various alleged sins of the past and present. Former Spanish President Jose Maria Aznar says Muslims should apologize for the Islamic occupation of Spain.

Muslims should apologize for occupying Spain for 800 years and a U.N.-backed program to encourage dialogue between them and West is stupid, former Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar has said. Aznar made his comments Friday night in a speech at the Hudson Institute, a thinktank in Washington, D.C., as he discussed Pope Benedict XVI’s recent remarks on Islam and violence.

He has a point. No one invited the Muslims into Spain. No one asked them to replace cathedrals with mosques. It took some bloody warfare to get them out of Spain, and the recovery of Andalusia is among bin Laden’s original grievances.

And to take it farther, if we’re all being fair then Muslims should apologize for conquering the Middle East. And northern Africa. And parts of the former Yugoslavia. And rioting in Paris. Right?

Audio of Aznar’s speech is here.

Update (Allahpundit): The Pope didn’t apologize but he did weave a rich tapestry of platitudes about tolerance and nonviolence in his meeting with Muslim envoys today. One Palestinian imam has a better idea.

When was the last time a Muslim leader apologized for anything they’ve done?

Where’s the !#$!@#% “I’m sorry” Muslim webpage?

Kokonut on September 25, 2006 at 1:56 PM

You must have missed it, Koko. Look under “Women’s Rights”, between “Our Commitment to Geneva” and “Free Expression For All”.

We need more voices like this. Good post.

By the way, what’s the over/under on a death fatwa for the defiant dhimmi Aznar? I call 72 hours.

A Google search…

Muslim apologizes” or “Muslims apologize” or “Imam apologizes

versus

Pope apologizes” or “Muslims demand apology

What are the odds we’ll see “A Muslim’s ‘Im Sorry’” webpage?

Aznar has always been a solid citizen. The last Spainard with balls.
Muslims ain’t even gonna start to think about apologizing, until we start making dhimmies outta them.

You gotta like Aznar. He’s a real friend of America.

A real friend of America? Pulling out of Iraq doesn’t make him my friend…

Oh, and, Kid from Brooklyn, I’ll put 10 large on a fatwa within 48 hrs. Any takers?

A-freakin’-men. Until muslims can fess up to their numerous own sins of conquest, they should just shut their grievance-spewing mouths.

Aznar did not pull out of Iraq .. Spanish troops were pulled out of Iraq by his successor, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero

Just watched a great program on Iraq on the History channel…

Kinda makes me want to be a Mongol… ya know??

Too bad we lost Aznar to the left wing dhimmi zapatero after the Madrid train attack. The spainards decided to surrender then to face another terrorist attack, vote out those with cojones enough to fight back, vote in those who cower in fear of the islamic wave taking over Europe. Are the the same people who fought so hard and kicked out the muslim hoardes occupying “Andalusia”?

I’m with you, Birdeye…I would have taken the under.

He said Christian leaders such as Benedict XVI are “afraid” because they realize Islam is Allah’s favorite religion and that they are going to hell unless they convert.

Well, muhammed (pissbeonhim) is a make-believe copycat fake, a child molester, an overall criminal and dhimma oppression starter, then his god is probably fake as well. Go ahead and believe in a god that tells you lies and asks you to kill ‘infidels’ and innocents, go right ahead.

Muslims are in full denial mode about their history…and current ones, too.

Kokonut on September 25, 2006 at 8:15 PM

Just to reiterate what DJ Dubya said, Aznar did not pull out of Iraq. “Mr. Bean” Zapatero did.

(The ONE decent thing Zapatero did, and the only one, really, was to not pull out of Afghanistan. This weekend, a handful of Spanish troops repelled a Taliban attack.)
