Vlog 2.0: Brit bloggers launch their own Internet TV network
posted at 4:10 pm on September 22, 2006 by Allahpundit
It sounds like what everyone initially thought Pajamas was going to be — they’re giving away 100 camcorders so “citizen journalists” around the world can shoot clips, file stories, etc. They’ve also lined up a pair of popular UK bloggers to host their shows:
Tim Montgomerie will present UP FRONT – a fair and opinionated news programme at 8pm every night – all based on the output of that day’s blogs.
VOX POLITIX WITH IAIN DALE will go out at 9pm. Dale will be joined by alternate co-presenters Rena Valeh and Zoe-Ann Phillips as well as two sofa-guests. The show will be a mix of news and discussion with the final half hour devoted to a thirty minute debate on a news topic of the day.
Other programmes on the channel include…
• END OF THE DAY SHOW – Live one hour discussion show each night at 11pm – including a long preview of the following day’s newspapers
• ONE TO ONE – a 30 minute interview designed to restore the idea of serious discussion
• PARTY TALK – with Zoe Ann Phillips – a Monday night show previewing the week in politics
• BROUGHT TO BOOK – Iain Dale talks to guests from the world of political books
• SELL THE IMPOSSIBLE will task a panel of expert politicians and bloggers with the job of devising a strategy to sell controversial policies chosen by visitors to the station’s website.
Four hours a night, Monday through Thursday. To put that in perspective for you, Bryan has upwards of ten years’ experience in TV and radio production and it takes him a full day to write, shoot, and edit a three-minute Vent.
Granted, the Vent is tricked out with green-screen effects and requires lots of post work whereas a de facto cable-access chat show does not. But someone’s got to edit all those clips that are sent in. Someone’s got to write the scripts. I don’t know how many people they’ve got on staff or what kind of money’s backing them, but they’re looking at a herculean effort here.
Lots of luck to them, though, especially with their anti-BBC agenda. It’s high time for an alternative.
The first interview they’ve lined up? Aussie PM John Howard. Nice.

I saw this earlier today via the NRO Corner. Four hours a night does sound pretty ambitious, but maybe they’ve got it all worked out. Hope they do well. I was really impressed when I saw they landed PM John Howard. Great choice! He’s a great friend of America, unlike “the Beeb”.

Muhaha…it seems that the British people are going to provide another quality export, other than their horrid layering of teeth, and “unique” dental work. (Thanks for those genetics grandpa…freakin Blackpool Brits).
What’s holding Pajama’s media back! I’m getting tired of prompt screen reading and pretty suits…

Interesting tidbit of information there; it really does put things in perspective. More power to ya, Bryan, and thanks for your hard work … especially when you have to also play guitar for the Vent ;)

Bryan has also been known to play a mena drum set! Gene Krupa Jr! It helps when editors need good timing!

The Normans set the tone in one day. The Muslims have taken their time and are just as successful. The COE is castrated, which effects the entire Anglican Communion, and Jihad Muslims are pumping Viagra into their suicide bombing faith. Hail Brittania.

This, along with the ‘Bryan’s efforts’ data calls for renewed appreciation for this vent. We grew to almost take for granted the fact that vents and posts keep appearing, on an almost continuous basis.
It seems that HOTAiR has always been there; a way of saying SMOOTH! And THANK YOU ALL!

Vent is amazing. Clips and Documents. The editing has great timing. It’s a ton of work. Just try to edit some family video. The length of a segment determines how it talks to you. It is an art form.
That’s why I sometimes wonder, are these moderators retired rich people? I compose an email with attachments for my brother and lose half a day.
Or maybe I am having blackouts and its time to up the meds.
When we got cable there was more community access. I got the idea to create a soap opera. I talked about it with a few friends.
Just some fun. Create some characters. Use local jokes and attitudes. They sunk my ship fast. Each friend turned into Cecille B. DeMille. I was trapped in Sunset Boulevard. They were arguing about residuals.

so when is hotair going to give me my free cam corder? HMMMMMMM? :-) I mean, I live near the University of Arkincest (I can say that cuz I’m from here originally), and I can tell you first hand the libs here are violently fanatical. It’s almost hillarious to watch.
