Pope ramps up security for “day of rage”; Update: Church attacked in Gaza

300 bodyguards at Castel Gandolfo plus another 200+ walking the beat at the Vatican, including its catacombs. And those are just the numbers they’re willing to admit to.

It’s rage day in the Middle East. It always is. Jackie Mason and Raoul Felder say it might be time to hold a rage day of our own:

Who decides that they have the right to convert the world into a courtroom, with the rest of the world’s other religions on trial, with the fate of our lives in their hands, with themselves the self-appointed judge, jury and executioner?

How long will it take for humanity to put an end to this kind of helplessness and cowardice in the face of this inhumane behavior? Instead of cowering in fear of losing our lives from the hands of Muslims, we should immediately and firmly advise them that any act of violence against innocent people will be met with a level of aggressive response that will make them realize that acts of terror against innocent people will cause them to pay an unbearable price.

The Pope’s response? He’s invited Muslim ambassadors to the Vatican to meet with him on Monday.

Contrary to some predictions, the only incendiaries used today have been of the rhetorical variety. Lots of banners, screaming, promises to reconquer Rome, etc. Just follow the photos. Charles has already plucked the best one, which I must say, I grudgingly admire for its artistry. If the Pope were a demonic Jew pirate, that’s exactly how he’d look.

Compare these two, though. The first is from Madrid, the second is from Egypt.

The sign in the top photo reads, “God is Charity.” The sign in the bottom one reads, “All of us are ready to die for Prophet Mohammad.”

This one needs no translation:

Mark Steyn and Glenn Reynolds discuss the Pope controversy in PJM’s new “blog week in review” podcast, so check that out if you haven’t yet. And on a related note, George Will devoted his column on Wednesday to Ayaan Hirsi Ali and her arrival in America. The last line says it all.

Update: The leader of a coalition of Pakistani Islamist political parties says the Pope should hang.

Update: A Greek Orthodox church in Gaza has been attacked with explosives. It’s okay, though. They were small ones.

Update: A Muslim man and a Christian woman got into an argument about religion yesterday in Nigeria. He allegedly insulted Jesus; she allegedly responded by insulting Mohammed. Here’s the result.

You know, I look at this Pope and I get the feeling he’s not someone you really want to mess with. He looks like he could be the kind of guy that eats rocks and craps gravel. As academics go, he’s pretty steely. It looks like he’s the second Pope in a row that was the right guy at the right time.

Re: Ayaan Hirsi Ali:

Clearly she is where she belongs, at last.

Almost. As soon as she returns my calls, we’ll get her fixed right up.

With a touch of zombie.

I would offer that the top sign is better translated to “God is Love”. Less literally, but that is the intent of the poster.

The Pope is in the middle of a dying continent, Pablo; we expect Europe to be muslim within a few decades, unless something changes. Unless the Pope has enough skill to turn Europe around, or at least to turn Italy around, he should be making plans to move to New Jersey.

Perhaps it’s time for the Swiss guard to lay down their spears and odd-looking, mediaval era costumes and don some BDU’s and rifles.

Interestingly, here’s a paragraph from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:

841 The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day.

Yeah, they may want to tweak that one a bit. Might also want to add in the Jews, since Abraham was one of them and all.

Mason and Felder are so dainty. May I suggest instead, “We will find you and kill you”?

Well, at least the Dread Pirate Benedict has the decency to blur the figures on his Papal stole. We would not want the faithful to get the wrong impression that Catholics are idolaters.

Kralizec,

The Pope is in the middle of a dying continent, Pablo; we expect Europe to be muslim within a few decades, unless something changes.

The last phrase is key, and maybe it already has. The first step to solving a problem is always admitting that you have one. Europe may or may not surrender, but I see Benedict being very much in the anti-Eurabia game, as JPII was anti-communism. He’s also got lots and lots of Catholics in dangerous places like Africa to concern himself with.

It’s not just Europe the jihadis are after. It’s any religion that is Islam, and anyone that isn’t a Muslim. His stake in the game is a much bigger than Europe. They want the whole damned world, no? I don’t seem him surrendering the faith.

We infidels should finally end the lives of these brainwashed sand-kicking habeebs.
Islam is so last century.
Muhammed was a pilaging rapist mongrel.

How can you fight against someone in the religious arena whom you’ve already given a pass to in regards to salvation? Muslims don’t have salvation through Islam. It’s a grave mistake for the Catholic Church to hold to this false teaching. It’s incompatible with the Gospels and Pauline writings stating the centrality of Christ’s death and resurrection as the only way to salvation.

If Christianity isn’t the only way to Heaven, then any faith is and there’s no reason to resist the Islamification of the world.

1st John 4:8, baby, and the word is “love.”

BREAKING NEWS!!

The Byzantine Emperor has apologized to Muslims for his quote!

“Taking quotes out of context is similarly a magnificent example of a reasonable dialogue from which we all should learn,” Manuel II said, adding that the recent slaughters of thousands of his Christian subjects by the Muslim sword were the result of his own blindness to the true peaceful nature of Islam.

Now there will surely be peace!

NTWR on September 22, 2006 at 7:41 PM

NTWR-

LOL!

Now, the Islamicists will have to dig up the Byzantine and behead him …for waiting so long to apologize.

Not as much fun as Danny Pearl or Nick Berg, but, hey, a jihadi’s gotta do something after Friday prayers!

You can’t go get a glass of Pinot Grigio and a BLT while watching sinuous girls in halter tops and hot pants dance to Cassie’s “Me and You”, so chopping up an Istambul mummy will have to do.

Inshallah-di-da.
