Video: Clinton on Chavez’s UN speech

posted at 4:42 pm on September 20, 2006 by Allahpundit

The clip is from his as-yet-unaired chat today with Larry King. As you’ll see, he chooses his words very carefully. Clintonian indeed.

Tune in to CNN at 9 p.m. for the full interview. Meanwhile, am I crazy or does the CNN anchor almost have herself one hell of a Freudian slip when pronouncing Hillary’s maiden name?

Wow. His response to Hugo is so fiery you might be able to melt VERY small ice cubes with it … maybe.

One Angry Christian on September 20, 2006 at 4:54 PM

What do you guys expect? He knows he will be working with Chavez when Hillary is President. Maybe they’ll both share a prayer rug when they pray to Mecca.

LOL!!!!!

The Ugly American on September 20, 2006 at 5:08 PM

Maybe it was a Freudian slip, but it was definitely there. So much the better that many of us think of her that way already.

ArkCon on September 20, 2006 at 5:11 PM

You got it right the first time honey, “Rotten”

RobCon on September 20, 2006 at 5:12 PM

Jiggity is right, why should we be surprised at this? However, if the shoe was on the other foot the Dims would be demanding the loudest apology and show the most outrage in the world. However, it almost seemed to me like he was saying “well wish he hadn’t said it (note to self it’s true though) blah blah blah!”

Catie96706 on September 20, 2006 at 5:12 PM

What clinton meant is that chavez shouldn’t have said it OUT LOUD where any rational person might be able to hear it. He would havce applauded it himself if chavez had said it in a closed meeting with the DNC or the House or Senate Democrat Caucus etc.

RobCon: I caught that too; Surprised me a freudian slip like that from a CNN news reader. I thought they were completely indoctrinated.

LegendHasIt on September 20, 2006 at 5:19 PM

Only a matter of time until we hear that Chavez is a Rove plant.

JammieWearingFool on September 20, 2006 at 5:24 PM

Man, he was just barely holding back an agreeing head nod and chuckle.

Laura02420 on September 20, 2006 at 5:46 PM

Freudian slip of what? She didn’t say anything…

Jaibones on September 20, 2006 at 5:56 PM

At least she wasn’t broadcasting from the powder room.

Maybe I’m just a stickler for the facts, but Larry King softening Chavez’s comments by saying he “likened” President Bush to the devil annoyed me more than Clinton’s predictable response to the question.

Here is what Chavez said (English translation)

The Devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday.

Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. Right here. And it smells of sulfur still today.

I’m not sure how long it will be up, but the full video of Chavez’s comments can be seen here.

12thman on September 20, 2006 at 6:08 PM

“Larry, it depends on what the meaning of ‘devil’ is.”

CP on September 20, 2006 at 7:37 PM

“He made a mistake.”

Sounds like Lewinskigate phrasing all over again.

speed647 on September 20, 2006 at 8:18 PM

I just might stick with the new name here…
Hilly Rotten Clinton… nice ring to it.

shooter on September 20, 2006 at 8:24 PM

Hillary “Rotten” Clinton

That right there just made my day.

Now where was the CNN flashing X on Bill?

lan astaslem on September 20, 2006 at 8:27 PM

TRANSLATION: I wish Chavez hadn’t said that at the U.N. He’s giving us socialists everywhere a bad name!

venmax on September 20, 2006 at 9:12 PM

Bubba commenting on Chavo – it doesn’t get any better than this.

It’s a curious time in the world, and in the U.S. when Hillary Clinton is the only prominent Dem. to denounce the “kill the current POTUS” movie and Bill Clinton the only one, mildly, disagreeing with the human toilet, Chavez.

Yet, the “enough is enough, vote Democrat” bumper stickers are surfacing. Yeah, I sure will! Every day you give me a new reason to do so.

Entelechy on September 21, 2006 at 2:28 AM

I think everyone needs to lighten up on her. She’s a classy lady!

SilverStar830 on September 21, 2006 at 4:28 AM

Right here. Right here. And it smells of sulfur still today.

He was smelling himself.

yonaton on September 21, 2006 at 5:57 PM

“Hillary “Rotten” Clinton.”

You listen to Mark Levin too, O divine one?

Right here. Right here. And it smells of sulfur still today.

No, you’re smelling your armpits.
