Video: RealVerse on Wonder Woman

posted at 10:48 pm on September 19, 2006 by Allahpundit

It’s been an awful couple of days on the blog. A new realVerse is a good way to end them.

I sort of knew she was the perfect woman, but not until I saw the t-shirt did I really know, you know?

Click the Beatles fan to watch.

Update: Easy question for Beatlemaniacs — what’s wrong with the following Sim? Aside from the fact that they look nothing like the Beatles, I mean.

Blowback

Paul’s left-handed!

Alex K on September 19, 2006 at 10:58 PM

Where’s Paul’s Hoefner?

Such amateurs.

Misha I on September 19, 2006 at 11:04 PM

Perfect woman she may be, but you’ve gone down a few pegs for me, AP. The Beatles? Seriously?

That’s one fan phenomenon I’ve *never* understood.

Allahpundit on September 19, 2006 at 11:07 PM

Ow … ow ow … was it the Beatles doggin’ or the AP-meter dropping?

0:-)

Anwyn on September 19, 2006 at 11:10 PM

AP, vous n’avez appris rien hier et aujourd’hui :)

Entelechy on September 19, 2006 at 11:16 PM

Anwyn, you can come Beatles-harshin’ at the JYB anytime.

see-dubya on September 19, 2006 at 11:25 PM

SeeDub, I knew I liked you. ;)

JasonG on September 19, 2006 at 11:36 PM

Strange, it cut my response in half…

I meant to say:

+1 Anwyn. Of course when I was born most TVs were in color and the Shah had only a year left in office. I think Allah is letting us know his true feelings. He may be a liberal mole :tinfoilhat:

My boss is a Beatles FAN. And I mean a memorabillia collecting, have all the albums on LP, books and DVDs Beatles FAN. Which is pretty cool, except at work they play the ‘oldies station’ all the time, so I’ve become rather sick of about two dozen of their songs.

Doug on September 19, 2006 at 11:46 PM

My husband loves the Beatles. I love Duran Duran. The Beatles do not bring the pretty pop.

Stormy70 on September 19, 2006 at 11:57 PM

Bethany: Did you see that Seinfeld episode?

Yes I did… Of the many quotable parts, I’m going to go with this one:

And what if I did do it? Even though I admit to nothing, and never will. What does that make me? And I’m not here just defending myself but all those pickers out there who’ve been caught. Each and every one of them, who has to suffer the shame and humiliation because of people like you.

Are we not human?! If we pick, do we not bleed?!

I am not an animal!

RightWinged on September 19, 2006 at 11:59 PM

RW, you’re in VT? I’m a recruiter in VT

JasonG on September 20, 2006 at 12:09 AM

Semolina pichard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower… Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allen Poe……”

The puny absurdities of ‘The [parasitic] Ruttles’, etc.* (lame offshoot of the once-fine “Bonzo Doo-Dah Dog Band“… who even guest-appeared in “Magical Mystery Tour”) and the endless replays of the same dozen post-’Quarrymen’ songs on Radio-Regurgito has truncated a protean, hilariously-rich band (“You Know My Name, Look Up My Number” to “A Day in the Life“) into a paltry, hollowed-out, safe pastiche.

When do they ever play “Tomorrow Never Knows“; “Blue Jay Way“; “Long Long Long“; “Across the Universe” or even “Why Don’t We Do it In The Road?”?

The self-gelded-media always marches everything flat. (You’d also think Jimi Hendrix only ever played “All Along the Watchtower and “Purple Haze” -and never wrote “Midnight”, “Cut and Trim the Lamps”, “Machine Gun”, “Voodoo Chile- a slight return” or dozens of other scintillating works.)

As Frank Zappa once said: “KILL YOUR RADIO!”

Or take Edmund Husserl’s advice: “Go to the source.”

Sorry, the Beatles [Lennon] quote above should be “pilchard“, of course.

(Makes no sense without the “l“.)

Like “trout” without the “r” becomes a mere tout.

(How could you look up “Trout Mask Replica“, by “Flash Gordon’s Ape” songwriter Captain Beefheart, otherwise?)

profitsbeard on September 20, 2006 at 12:25 AM

I don’t even know what to say anymore.

Bethany, when you break up with Allah, I would love to take you out on a date.

And not to a Star Trek convention.

A Star Wars convention…YES!

Rosetta on September 20, 2006 at 12:53 AM

Oh man, that was eeeasy! Paul McCartney plays left-handed… but Alex K got it first so he wins.

SilverStar830 on September 20, 2006 at 12:55 AM

RW, you’re in VT?

Yup, just moved back this summer

RightWinged on September 20, 2006 at 1:11 AM

There’s more wrong with this Sims than just Paul being righthanded (he’s a southpaw and Alex K mentioned) and playing a Fender Jazz Bass (Paul’s bass of choice in that period was indeed a Hoefner as Misha I pointed out)–in fact, I don’t remember ever seeing Paul playing a Jazz Bass.) Other things I see:

1. John playing a Strat. John was a Rickenbacker man until he purchased an Epiphone Casino in 1966.

2. George playing what appears to be a Gretsch Country Gentleman. Now while it’s true that he played this particular instrument, in this period his guitar of choice was a Gretsch Duo Jet–a guitar you can see in all its glory on the cover of his 1987 solo album Cloud Nine.

3. Ringo’s drumming style. The Sim has the guy drumming like Keith Moon. That’s just wrong.

Carvin Guitar Man on September 20, 2006 at 1:15 AM

OK, Beatle “experts”: quick (without looking it up) what keys do “When I’m Sixty Four”, “I’m So Tired” and “For No One” go in? Gotcha?

Perhaps we can have a chord progression thread someday here… : )

Halley on September 20, 2006 at 1:26 AM

I question your wisdom here Allah…Michelle remains the perfect woman. I guess she is not a bad second since Michelle is taken….

Psycotte on September 20, 2006 at 1:28 AM

I don’t know the keys. But I can give you chord progressions all day long, even if they are the Beatles.

Anwyn on September 20, 2006 at 1:35 AM

Is there something Freudian about Bethany leaning on those giant black balls in the video?

Kokonut on September 20, 2006 at 1:54 AM

The depressing thing is, was she even born when Lennon was shot?

Jim Treacher on September 20, 2006 at 4:54 AM

“I asked her where she was when Kennedy was shot, and she said, ‘Ted Kennedy was shot?!?’”

Anwyn on September 20, 2006 at 7:49 AM

The Beatles shirt shows how much class this woman has…

As opposed to me who wishes I was her shirt.

Valiant on September 20, 2006 at 8:00 AM

There’s no better way to start off the day than with a cup of coffee and Bethany on my computer monitor. (^_^)

DakRoland on September 20, 2006 at 8:11 AM

I feel like making an obnoxious comment about the Beatles just to get banned… but I actually like the Beatles. That and I’ve been participating in a sleep deprivations study (young children) for the last week and I just can’t think of anything clever to say.

High Desert Wanderer on September 20, 2006 at 8:17 AM

Love the Beatles. Went to a CSN&Y concert this summer. Talk about a stroll down memory lane!!! Stills and Young on Rockin in the Free World–other than the fact I fully expected one or both to stroke out, it was tremendous, as good as ever.

honora on September 20, 2006 at 8:24 AM

Silverstar i think has it. McCartney is left-handed. Oh BTW thanks for the Bethany fix. : )

vcferlita on September 20, 2006 at 8:48 AM

She’d look better in a Journey T-Shirt from the Escape Tour.

journeyscarab on September 20, 2006 at 8:49 AM

Gawd, I love the Rutles.

Mr. Bingley on September 20, 2006 at 9:19 AM

Some were already noted:

Paul is left-handed and his bass is not the Hofner violin model
George guitar is not the Gretsch
John has a Stratocaster instead of the Rickenbacker
Ringo has one extra drum
The amplifiers were not Marshall but Vox

The Beatles is not a fan phenomenon, it is embedded in the genes

Changing the subject, yes, I vote for a wet t-shirt contest

Ropera on September 20, 2006 at 9:24 AM

No wet t-shirt comments, please. Let’s keep this somewhat respectable.

Allahpundit on September 20, 2006 at 9:36 AM

What’s even cooler than the Beatles?

Beatles mash-ups. “You Won’t Give it Up” is the best of the lot.

Slublog on September 20, 2006 at 9:51 AM

Let’s keep this somewhat respectable.

Sorry, AP, but when I saw Bethany and the caption “Wonder Woman”, well… my imagination…. well, you know…..

Dave Shay on September 20, 2006 at 9:57 AM

I have to be very, very careful about commenting on Bethany’s shirt. My nine-year-old has one exactly like it. It was available at Target.

I’ve been a Beatles fan since I was four years old, the year HELP was released, and I think that was the first record of theirs that I heard. That’s one of the benefits of having a much older brother.

But it all changed in 1973 when I bought a 45 of “Reeling in the Years” by Steely Dan. I rarely listened to the Beatles from then on until their UK releases came out on CD.

Gottafang on September 20, 2006 at 10:01 AM

Yup, just moved back this summer

If you’d like we could get together and go shooting sometime. If you’re interested I’ll send you my e-mail.

Michelle Malkin cast as Wonder Woman…

Whouldn’t that be hot?

Lawrence on September 20, 2006 at 11:00 AM

AP, you have to stop linking to Bethany! Everytime I watch her video blog my computer overheats. ;)

Benaiah on September 20, 2006 at 11:06 AM

I’d like to thank Bethany’s parents. Oh…and Allah.

Kokonut..shame on you…funny…but shame on you.

Brian on September 20, 2006 at 11:10 AM

Michelle Malkin cast as Wonder Woman

Perfect. Tie me up and make me tell the truth.

And Bethany as Isis.

journeyscarab on September 20, 2006 at 11:13 AM

I wonder if Bethany has gotten any phone calls from Heff yet. She beats the 3 he has now. Also, it looks to me like Bethany wasn’t even born yet when John Lennon was shot. I can’t say I have seen many Beatles shirts in the mall lately either. Ineresting twist.

Oh, thank heaven for………girls.

Shmo on September 20, 2006 at 12:49 PM

Slublog,

I’m kind of partial to “Got To Get You Trapped Under Ice,” myself.

The Colossus on September 20, 2006 at 1:12 PM

McCain, Warner and Graham all hate the Beatles (and puppies).

Bic on September 20, 2006 at 2:22 PM

Where’s Paul’s Hoefner?

Such amateurs.

I thought Paul played a Rickenbacker? Or maybe I’m thinking of another famous bass player.

thirteen28 on September 20, 2006 at 2:32 PM

Quit yer whinin’, AP, and ask her out.

And if Bethany looks like her mother, ask her if her mom’s available.

chsw (older than AP)

chsw on September 20, 2006 at 3:53 PM

What a lovely girl. Get it, AP? Girl…

Jaibones on September 20, 2006 at 6:10 PM

As long as we’re pointing out mistakes in that Sims clip, I think the real Beatles were a little bit better at lip-synching.

Jim Treacher on September 20, 2006 at 6:58 PM

The “Paul” Sim looks more like the fake Paul (“Billy Shears”) who replaced the original Paul in 1966. But “It Won’t Be Long” was recorded in 1963. So there’s another problem.

dorkafork on September 20, 2006 at 7:51 PM

Love the Beatles

Jaibones on September 21, 2006 at 10:09 AM

The beatles are highly over rated
(runs and hides)

One Angry Christian on September 21, 2006 at 3:29 PM

Hi Bethany,

I was 14 years old when the Beatles first came to America and played on the Ed Sulivan show. If you are not familiar with the Ed Sulivan show you might ask your parents they probably remember.

You are a very intelligent and lovely young lady and I am sure that you make your folks very proud you do seem to do a good job being in front of a camera and seem to be very energetic with your work.
