Wait, wait. Michael Steele is a Republican AND he supports President Bush! That’s just…stunning. Thanks, Maryland Democrats for running this attack ad, because if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have known Steele’s political allegiances.
(hat tip Oliver Willis)
Update: The Governator is getting the same treatment. Can someone remind the Dems Bush isn’t running for re-election?

You have to love the Dems…you would think they are running against the President. One thing I wonder is if the war against terrorism in Iraq is still being waged, how can it be failed? Seems to me win or fail is determined at the end.

If I dare to shamelessly self promote myself…they’re doing the same thing over here in Sunny Left-leaning California with TV campaigns that they’re running against Arnold. The association even from a purely argumentative point of view…is…well…retarded.
Check out similar Arnold ad.
StoutRepublican on September 18, 2006 at 6:01 PM
The republican candidates should invest to get this ad ,produced by Daly & Associates, shown in their respective areas.
DannoJyd on September 18, 2006 at 6:17 PM
Howdy StoutRepublican, my fellow Californian – I’m from the military-friendly and not Left-leaning 50th disctrict in North San Diego :)
The same Dems in Angelides’ camp ran ads during the primaries, accusing his liberal competitor Steve Westly of being close to Mr. Schwarzenegger.
Entelechy on September 18, 2006 at 6:20 PM
Did they mention he’s black? Maybe that will turn some voters against him.
frankj on September 18, 2006 at 6:25 PM
Hey Entelechy…I’m in HB, West OC…Rohrabacher is my man…red red area…but my generation (mid 20)…blue and illinformed, shameful…shameful.
StoutRepublican on September 18, 2006 at 6:37 PM
Hey me too. Thank you San Diego is conservative. I have NO idea how conservatives stay sane living North of Orange County.
Theworldisnotenough on September 18, 2006 at 6:39 PM
Their subliminal message here is not that he supports Mr. Bush but that he’s a Black Republican. Imagine that!
The day the U.S. Blacks wake up to the fact that they have been taken for granted by the Dems, without being offered much, and that they have a choice to vote, and to be accepted and respected for who they are and not for what color their skin is, the liberals are finished.
Social and economic independence are simply not enough.
Mr. Steele is paving the road to political independence.
Entelechy on September 18, 2006 at 6:40 PM
Who the hell does this guy (Steele) think he is!? Black people aren’t allowed to support Republicans!!! Someone get Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on the phone to tell Steele how black politicians are supposed to act. You gotta tell all minorities that they’re poor and it’s the fault of the white devils. You gotta tell them that they deserve more and more entitlements and promise that you’re the man to give it to them. You have to degrade minorities by making them think they have no way out and that these entitlements are the best thing they’ll ever get. And most importantly, you have to put a D next to your name. Come on Steele, get your head on straight!
RightWinged on September 18, 2006 at 6:49 PM
Most of California is actually purplish-red, if you look at the valley towns, some coastal islands (like N. SD and N. SLO county) and basically everywhere but the “sliver of shame” gerrymandered right along the coast and encompassing SF.
So glad you linked the Governator ad. It makes me snicker everytime I see it. Obviously the opposition has nothing to offer and, frankly, takes the voters as being very stupid.
Funny (pathetic) that they’re using it in Maryland, too. Steele is a solid individual with actual ideas and plans for making that state better. Go Steele go!

Yes, they support the guy that the Dems two spankings. This is great, I love it. The Dems just don’t get it – everytime they make it about Bush, they lose (despite the polls – especially those 2004 exit polls).
Rick on September 18, 2006 at 6:56 PM
Sorry, the guy that gave the Dems two spankings – been a long day.
Rick on September 18, 2006 at 6:57 PM
The Democrats are trying to appeal to the imbecile community.
The Democrats and their media have invested a lot in creating knee-jerk Bush haters out of the 80 IQ crowd. A Republican candidate could gather up half of those votes without losing any of the base by distancing himself from Bush by saying Bush is too weak on terrorism and isn’t forceful enough in fighting the war. This is because the ‘tards are merely programmed to oppose Bush.
There was a month or two a couple years ago when the same imbeciles who are now and before then in favor of withdrawing troops were lamenting that there weren’t enough troops. They don’t struggle with contradictions, as long as they were opposing, it satisfied their programming.
As the Democrats have known for some time, the imbecile community is easy to persuade. Republicans need to get in the game because that is a huge voting block that can’t just be written off.

It should be noted that there’s a similar ad being run by the Angelidies for governor campaign here in California. It basically shows from 04 Schwartzenegger sayins “LEts re-elect President bush” and then lists the left’s grievences and then asks “Schwartzeneger is for Bush, is he for you?”
Most moronic commercial i’ve ever seen in my life. Its not “Why should I elect Angelidies?” its “THe other guy backs someone we hate in the party and that makes him bad!”
That commercial in and of itself makes me believe the Angelidies and the anti-Steele campaigns are not only destined to lose, but htey know it and they’re DESPERATE
Defector01 on September 18, 2006 at 7:01 PM
btw I’m a Central San Diegan Republican
Defector01 on September 18, 2006 at 7:02 PM
So many Californians:) We have to meet some day – maybe there will be a HOTAiR gathering in beautiful Calif.
NTWR, you’re right about how the state is divvied up.
Not to worry, as they get a bit older and successful, they’ll change. I know many who’ve undergone the transition, to the point that I can’t keep up with their swings.
Entelechy on September 18, 2006 at 7:12 PM
At this point I would follow Steele through the gates of Hell.
venmax on September 18, 2006 at 7:13 PM
If Cardin is so strong, his record will speak for itself.
The Democrats seem very afraid of a strong, powerful black man.
Hidden racist tendencies, probably.
How are those prosecutions going with the thug Chuckie Schumer’s criminal minions who filched Steele’s credit report?
Oh that’s right, they’re Democrats. Nevermind.
JammieWearingFool on September 18, 2006 at 7:18 PM
I think the Dems ought to roll out Robert “Sheets” Byrd for their next round of ads. That would be entertainment!
dallas94 on September 18, 2006 at 7:46 PM
A California HotAir meeting would be great!
Speaking of hidden racist tendencies, this Sunday a 15ish year old came up to the door and handed me a copy of a newspaper “Free Speech.” It was from the National Alliance, a pro-white organization.
I was really surprised by how much the term “Neocon” came up and how “the idiot from Texas” was just out for his “neocon agenda to help the Jews.”
I somehow have been programmed to think white power people were Republicans-how silly. It was Algore’s dad who opposed the civil rights act, Republicans were the deciding vote for that historical change. And it’s the Democrats who have a former klansman in their ilk. Sooo much to learn, or, be de-programmed of.
NTWR on September 18, 2006 at 7:56 PM
Another HB, OC Republican.
The Angelides ad is lame, but at least it’s a visible reminder that there’s a race on (and it’s probably like a Cialis four-pill overnighter to its intended audience). It can’t be a less effective use of resources than the close-to-brain-dead offering of the CA Repub party, which keeps running an unbelievably cloying radio ad on LA/OC radio trouncing Jerry Brown as the mayor of… Oakland. (Yeah, he’s running for Atty Gen, but you’d never know it from the ads).
And who exactly is the Repub running for CA Senate again? I breathe politics and I just realized… I have no idea.
a4g on September 18, 2006 at 8:08 PM
There are a lot of posts in this thread already, so I don’t know if this link has already been posted.
The Dems are running the same campaign ads against California Governer Arnold. “Guilty by association” seems to be the Dems strategy. Oddly enough, I haven’t seen but one ad touting anything positive about Phil Angelides by the Dem party. That’s mostly because there is nothing positive to say about Phil Angelides. He’s a true bedwetting thumbsucker who is very soft on crime and very, VERY big on taxes.
At this point, as long as the candidate is a Democrat, the Dem party could care less if the candidate is even capable of doing the job in the larger scope. That also means they could care less about the citizens of this great country. All the Dem’s care about is vindication, revenge, their welfare agenda, and “winning”, and nothing else.

Never knew there were so many people from Cali here. I’m in Irvine, just a couple of blocks from Chapman U.
GO PANTHERS!!!

That was a stupid ad.
CP on September 19, 2006 at 12:50 AM
There are so many of us – we can form the HOTAiR-West chapter :)
Heh, we have Scandelides – that’s how John & Ken call Angelides since the hacking into the Governor’s website. Still being investigated by the CHP, which is also responsible for the security of the Capitol, including hard- and soft-ware.
That ad in Calif. is really stupid indeed. Not even dems take it seriously. The biggest trio in Hollywood, Spielberg, Katzenberg and Saban support Arnold for re-election.
I took a class in Logic many years ago. Most deceiptful are strings of similar/related statements, with implied ‘logical’ conclusions.
74% of spinach in the U.S. is grown in California
The E. Coli bacteria was found on spinach grown in Calif.
Mr. Schwarzenegger supported Mr. Bush for his re-election.
Mr. Schwarzengegger is Governor of California
———————————————————
Therefore Angelides is the man to prevent E. Coli to ever affect the U.S. negatively again.
Entelechy on September 19, 2006 at 1:04 AM
They are running ads like this in S. Florida….”Republican candidate such and such supported President Bush on 90% of his votes in Congress…Thats just wrong, cause Bush is evil, and we want an independent thinker in Washington, unless Hillary wins, and then we will be in lockstep, oh Bush=Hitler, vote Democrat!”
You get the idea

a4g: For Senate it’s Dick Mountjoy. Gotta love that name. He’s a good man though-the one who got the MTBE out of our gas (and water supply).
That’s important to me because the MTBE fiasco is what opened my eyes to the short-sighted stupidity of the junk science environMentalists and their liberal agenda.
