Red meat for red staters. The first snippet is highly germane to a certain aspect of the Clinton legacy that’s been in the news of late. The second is just fun (albeit peppered with lies, natch).

“The Seat of Heat”
There is nothing hotter than a mouth full of lies.

Pretty damn good poker face on the old boy.
Anwyn on September 19, 2006 at 12:17 AM
He ain’t called Slick Willy for nuthin’ son.
SilverStar830 on September 19, 2006 at 1:31 AM
“I think I’ll have to live a long time to do as much good as a former President as I did as a President”?
You are doing the most good just by being a former President, you arrogant dick.
B Moe on September 19, 2006 at 2:01 AM
“Is your wife running…?”
“It depends what you mean by running”
Entelechy on September 19, 2006 at 2:43 AM
On a more humanitarian note – Mr. Clinton looks sick. I can’t help but wonder every time I see him.
Entelechy on September 19, 2006 at 2:47 AM
“Paralyzed by events” indeed.
iNeXuS on September 19, 2006 at 4:17 AM
He needs some Preparation H to reduce the swelling of his massive ego. What a hemmoroid.
roninacreage on September 19, 2006 at 8:29 AM
“I think I’ll have to live a long time to do as much good as a former President as I did as a President.”
Now that is hubris! He obviously misses the presidency but as his actions in office show, it’s not because he misses the good he could do, but the attention he got.
insomni on September 19, 2006 at 9:22 AM
I wish he’d offered a straight answer to that last “how do we defeat her?” question…
Corky on September 19, 2006 at 9:29 AM
God I miss him. Course I was always a sucker for an intelligent man.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 9:41 AM
I think I’m going to throw up.
pullingmyhairout on September 19, 2006 at 9:45 AM
Meanwhile, in related news, the headline over at HuffPo screams: “Bill Clinton: ‘I Am Sick Of Karl Rove’s Bullsh*t’…”
Presidential.
Greg Tinti on September 19, 2006 at 10:04 AM
So was Lewinsky.
BlueStateBlues on September 19, 2006 at 10:08 AM
Sigh. What ever happened to wit?
honora on September 19, 2006 at 10:11 AM
What an ego! If Hillary wins, his office in the West Wing will be the Oval Office. The prospects for infighting between the power whores are tremendous.
Valiant on September 19, 2006 at 10:18 AM
Just reciprocating snark for snark. You know to which side of the aisle most posters to this blog stand, so you bait us and when we are in the mood, we bite. Now like a good little lefty, you will tell us how much better the economy was under your ‘intelligent man’, and that he kept us safe and peaceful, while fighting the dangerous Y2K bug.
So which events had the boy paralyzed?
BlueStateBlues on September 19, 2006 at 10:32 AM
You’ll have to bear with me. I keep forgetting there is only one point of view that is tolerated by good little righties with good little rightie minds. (I have always thought the most elegant condemnation of the far right is that Rush’s fans call themselves ditto heads. Imagine the mentality.)
My boy is past history. suggest you concentrate on your boy now. Here’s a little question: if this is a clash of civilizations and the third WW and if Iraq is the central front thereof: don’t you find it odd we can’t scrape together more troops to fight it. You know, what with it being Armeggedon and all.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 10:42 AM
Just ask the folks in Somalia.
speed647 on September 19, 2006 at 10:55 AM
We probably would have won it by now if honora and et. al. had the cojones to stand with us and aqainst the terrorists.
A party that thinks that Lebanon and Somolia were the right strategic lesson obviously can’t be trusted.
The party believes in defensive measures only with no offensive strategy. A sure direction for death and defeat.
Wil on September 19, 2006 at 10:55 AM
Ok let’s look at facts: you have the exec and the leg branches. What exactly is it you want to do that we lacking cojones have stifled? Specifics.
And by the way, take a peak at Iraq and Afghanistan–by you this is winning? We really can’t afford anymore victories like this. I believe in both defensive and offensive strategies, the difference being smart strategies.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 11:05 AM
honora,
your ditto-head condemnation I found rather suitable. You are of course aware that there are probably just as many right wing ditto-heads as there are left wing, the amusing part is that some on the right take pride in refering to themselves as such. However, the rhetorical clash of civilization-question was just plain stupid. You should have quit while you were ahead…
xyan on September 19, 2006 at 11:09 AM
Maybe that Feministing chick gave him a cold.
You just encountered some.
Jim Treacher on September 19, 2006 at 11:12 AM
Aging has not been kind to der Slickmeister.
If Hillary runs and wins, Bill would actually look like another first lady ……. Barbara Bush.
fogw on September 19, 2006 at 11:39 AM
Be careful how you phrase that, Honora.

GT on September 19, 2006 at 11:53 AM
I love the way Jon Stewart just let the “paralyzed by events” comment slide.
What I find to be even funnier is when JS is being interviewed about his show and is asked why he lobs the softball questions to the more liberal of his guests, he defends is actions by saying, (not a direct quote) We are not a news show. We are a comedic parody of the news, but he will use his very public platform to skewer anyone who may have an opposing view than him.
I will give him kudos for the way he respected Ilario Pantano, and I do find his humor to be very funny, albeit left-leaning.
Oh, yeah, to which paralyzing events, honora, was the former President alluding?
BlueStateBlues on September 19, 2006 at 11:59 AM
Thanks for the tip.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 12:48 PM
I didn’t see the interview. I would guess the whole impeachment business. I gather you feel this is some sort of an Eureka! moment. Wheeee!!!!
honora on September 19, 2006 at 12:51 PM
Depends on what you mean by wife.
Depends on what you mean by sucker
Depends on what you mean by intelligent.
Depends on what the meaning of ‘was’ is.
Ever notice how Clinton is looking more and more like Ted Kennedy every day?
entagor on September 19, 2006 at 12:54 PM
It could have been if the interviewer hadn’t let it slide.
I did not see the entire Clinton/Stewart interview, so I do not know the reason for the visit. Was it cya for the “Path to 9/11″ tv movie, or was he promoting a book, or a charity, or as usual, himself.
Let me take this moment, honora, to say that, though I am new to commenting here, I have been lurking for sometime. You always present an intellectual view of your side, and at times, make me think, as good dialog should. I am not as educated as you obviously are, so my arguments may seem more simplistic.
That said, let me apologize in advance to everyone for the times that my sarcasm comes across as, let’s say…Olberman-esque.
BlueStateBlues on September 19, 2006 at 1:17 PM
You can stop ovulating now.
thirteen28 on September 19, 2006 at 1:18 PM
BSB: you give me too much credit and yourself not enough; maybe both. I love Olberman so I am sure I will enjoy your sense of humor!
honora on September 19, 2006 at 1:43 PM
You don’t know me well enough to talk to me like that. Back off.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 1:43 PM
Testy, ain’t we honora …
Got any more wistful reminiscing of the Sink Emperor for us?
thirteen28 on September 19, 2006 at 1:48 PM
I object to vulgarity and coarseness. It erodes the quality of life and of discourse.
honora on September 19, 2006 at 1:57 PM
There was no vulgarity or coarseness – it was just a way of pointing out your panting over B.C. which was quite obvious in the post myself and others quoted. You’re just thin-skinned.
thirteen28 on September 19, 2006 at 2:07 PM
Admiring morally crude Clinton and objecting to vulgarity.
Depends on the meaning of what vulgar is?
fogw on September 19, 2006 at 2:28 PM
honora
How about Kobar, 2 embassies, USS Cole, “We killed the Patriot Act”, etc.
Not enough space to to list all the inane, puerile strategies!
As for controlling both branches, it has been 6 years of fight the terrorists drag the Dimocrats.
Wil on September 19, 2006 at 5:13 PM
When former President Clinton places that finger on his ear at the end of the segment, that was his way of confirming a lie he just told…..”is Hillary running for President?” “I don’t know”. Yeah right. He don’t know.
What was he paid for this appearance? I’m sure he demanded something.
gary on September 19, 2006 at 6:06 PM
Yeah, I guess it took an intelligent man to get past all that national pride junk and DO NOTHING WHEN WERE ATTACKED ON MULTIPLE OCCASSIONS BY TERRORISTS!
It also took an “intelligent” man to get caught having one off with a fat chick, something most of us are able to hide indefinitely, BTW. I would imagine that it took an extremely intelligent man to sell our nuclear secrets to the Red Goddamned Chinese and to try to put pillow biters in the military front and center (no pun intended). Bill Clinton is a floater. Know what a floater is? It’s that piece of feces that won’t go down no matter how much you flush. The feculent wast just keeps coming back up.
Soothsayer on September 19, 2006 at 11:03 PM
Excuse, excuses, excuses. You can’t get the job done, get out of the way. No-one gets to step into the perfect job. Again, how have the Democrats stopped the President from fighting terrorism? (USS Cole–ok, RR pulling out of Lebanon–let’s try to keep this to post 9/11 activity. Oh and Teddy and the drowned girl–know you’ll want to throw that in the mix. It’s always adds so to the debate.)
The Patriot Act was re-authorized in March BTW. There was debate–from both sides of the aisle. This is how our system works. People and parties have diverse opinions that are discussed and negotiated to get a consensus that hopefully is the best of all POVs. You don’t like it, move. I have had it with people who feel they are the only ones whose opinions matter or have any merit. You’re looking for a monarchy or dictatorship, not a democratic republic.
PS, what exactly has W done to protect us from terrorism? Our borders? Our ports? Strengthened alliances? Isolated terror-friendly regimes? Reduced the number of terrorists? Capture bin Laden?
Seems to me you have plenty to work on on your side before you start going after the Democrats. But of course, it’s easier to blame someone else, right?
The right wing: home of injustice collectors.
honora on September 20, 2006 at 8:50 AM
Actually a floater is an ophthalmological term. Imagine you not knowing that. You can flap your gums all you want about Clinton. The fact is, he left office with a 65% approval rating, and maintains that. So I guess this is just another case of you being right and most people being wrong. Must get frustrating. On the bright side you have all that scatological knowledge on your side.
honora on September 20, 2006 at 8:55 AM
I wonder when the Daily show will have Moanica Lewdinski, the human humidor, on. She compliments Cigarman quite well.
