Well I'm glad to hear Rove is having a good yuck. After all, he and his team have done such a fine job. I actually admire Rove. He is great at winning elections. Too bad about that governing thing though--but hey, what's more important???

We could try letting the republicans lose. I figure if they want to act like they are the losers of the 04 elections then why bother making an effort to allow them to continue, but then I’m forced to agree that the result wouldn’t be the best for America.

Danno, just when I thought you were 'back'...please hold on to your thought in bold. Please. Please. Please.

I agree with your discontent but the alternative is suicide. These are not times for political experimentation and lesson-teaching. We would punish ourselves, our country and our world.

Again, as before-the Dems are not counting on the active Democratic faithful as much as the 'inactive, vote Dem all my life, not going to change now Democrats' who are in the majority. If there are enough of those type of Dems voting, the Repubs are out, and the world as we know it comes to an end.

Personally, I love it. The notion of an all-knowing, all politically powerful, mischievously evil Karl Rove actually laughing at the Democrats in the months before an election that seems promising for them is ... just too delicious.

I know that the collaborators think Rove is an evil genius, but he doesn't seem very good at keeping W's numbers up, or making the case for the war, or responding to the nationwide tide of anger about illegal immigration. To insure half the "moderate" Democratic votes as well as all the Conservative ones, all they had to do was get serious about the border. That issue is an orphan, flapping in the wind just waiting for the right demagogue. Rove has not inspired confidence lately. Then again, maybe he's just tired. Being Satan for 6 years has got to take a toll.

And he does drive the Liberals insane...and sometimes thats all that matters.

Nothing will psyche the Left and the MSM out more than any talk of Karl Rove. He should keep this up until Nov. 7

Here is yet another "new" direction from the Democrats.

Democrats have had more "New Directions" recently than MapQuest.

"Culture of Corruption" - keep this up!
"Culture of Cronyism" - this too!
"Do-Nothing Congress" - this too!
"Rubber-Stamp Congress" - translation?
"Together, We Can Do Better" - huh? Bipartisanship?
"Together, America Can Do Better" - see the bolded section
and, most recently, "Six for '06" - see below

For those keeping score at home, Democrats arrived at "New Direction" yesterday by downgrading one of the "Six for '06" issues (health care) and upgrading three others (honesty, civility and fiscal discipline), for a total of eight items on the contents page.

Yep, it gives me a really warm feeling, the Dems are for:

honesty, civility and fiscal discipline - yep, again, that's them, blow me out of my chair!

And, after totally being against Social Security they'll now fix it? Blow me over again!

Their new-new plan is not striking by what it contains but by what it doesn't: no security, no fighting those who'd kill us, as if we're unaffected by the wild-eyed street dancers screaming against a university lecture by the Pope.

NOTE to all Republicans, independents and Dems who wish to be safe, free and successful - read and implement, in any which way!

Last time I looked at the numbers, Mark..a majority of Americans didn't see a problem with tapping calls from terrorists to the US - which is NOT "warrantless wiretapping". It was a NON issue stirred up by Dems that failed to stick to the wall.

The MSM wants us all to believe that most think Iraq is bungled, but I will garantee you that those statements by the MSM are false.

Ever heard of the "silent majority"? It's that pesky group of folks that don't talk about politics, but go right out and vote their morals. 2000 and 2004 ring any bells? The polls pointed to Kerry if I recall correctly last time.

I wouldn't be so confident. Democrats might not be earning votes, but Republicans are actively casting them aside. If Republican voters stay home, it doesn't much matter if they're not voting Democrat... it's still a lost vote.

I also wonder how much the national security issues are helping Republicans right now. Warrantless wiretapping, for instance, is opposed by a majority of voters. A majority disapproves of the way Bush is handling terrorism. (source) People think Iraq was bungled, and they're worried that the war on terror is violating civil rights.

So they're losing the middle on national security, and not doing anything to keep the far right (with immigration, especially). As a Republican strategist, I'd be worried.

Of course, this is Rove, so maybe expressing confidence about Republicans' chances plays some role in actually increasing their chances. People like to bet on a winner, after all.

Nice if they do hold Congress.
Not so nice that Rove is so confident: might be better if he were worried enough to make an effort.

I can agree with that analysis Bryan.

While I despise the lesser of two evils paradigm, which actually is true in this election cycle, I cannot imagine the America liberals would try to craft if they controlled the House and had the support of the RINO Senate.

I heard Bilbray on John and Ken and he was predicting the Fence bill gets through the Senate and even a guy like Brownback would not oppose it...

We could try letting the republicans lose. I figure if they want to act like they are the losers of the 04 elections then why bother making an effort to allow them to continue, but then I'm forced to agree that the result wouldn't be the best for America.

Politicians are like children in a candy shop. They get carried away, and start to misbehave. Since we cannot give them a smack where it would do the most good I've resorted to lying to pollsters, and the people who call me to request a donation. I tell them that I will not be voting for a republican because of [insert your issue here].

Politicians represent us if we tell them to. Get your meassage to your representative today, get it to them tomorrow, and work towards getting your message to them every single day until the elections. If you don't then you have only yourself to blame.

I agree with the "lesser of two evils" concept, but what are our options for getting the Republicans to actually act like Republican? As the Dems have gone farther left it seems there are alot more RINOS popping up like water-soaked Gremlins.

That is a pretty sad commentary on the state of the U.S. government. Choose the lesser of 2 evils. How inspiring!

I SO hope that one of the candidates in this years elections will be foolish enough to appear in my neck of the woods. No matter which party they belong to, I'll be sure to get my point across which is, I don't have to settle.

I agree that neither party really deserves a win. I wonder if the Dems will learn from their defeat this November and start to take seriously the threats against America.

It's good to hear that Rove feels that way.

I think that the Dem's have horrible political skills, because what they say and do p***es me off so much. But that's just me the amateur's point of view.

But Rove is a professional at judging political trends. If he thinks that, well maybe we really do have a good chance of keeping controll of the House and Senate.
