One Angry Christian, You are definitely a piece of America.

I take that as a compliment and a sad reality.

I was supposed to be uber traditional boy. I am the black sheep of my family. Instead I'm kind of a hybrid of the American underground and ... conservative Christianity.

It's rather strange.

Big Surprise, Montreal Shooter Hated Republicans!...

Yesterday I semi-liveblogged developments in the story of the shooting spree at Dawson College in Montreal by some Columbine copycat loser. Now we know that he injured about 20 people, killed one, and then killed himself after police shot him......

Even told one of the nuns where I went to high school the reason I was so sleepy in class one day is that I went to an Ozzy concert the night before and my folks told me that I couldn’t go if I didn’t go to school the night before. She called my mother who told her that I wasn’t a bad kid & neither was my brother, we didn’t do drugs, we didn’t drink and we both had part-time jobs as well as being involved in extra curricular activities and were in the nhs. She said she didn’t understand why we liked that music but as long as we weren’t hurting anyone she didn’t care what we listened to or who we spent our money on going to concernts.

Thanks Catie, and I completely agree. It's really funny how some people (even within my own little sub community) assume that if you wear fishnets and eyeliner you must be on something. I mean you can't show up to a club or festival and NOT be on something and have a good time right?

wrong.

I'm actually helping one guy clear the drug heads out of his events. Because of the problems some of them have caused he's almost been shutdown. Being that I'm an ex drug head myself, and a huge proponent of the war on drugs because of the countless friends I've lost via death, prison, or a drifting apart (one tends to drift from their friends when they get violent or steal from you. Odd I know).

For the record

I have an account on vampirefreaks.com, yes I'm an ahole. I'm ok with it.

I also run a production company specializing in goth music events, and nerdy conventions. I wear eyeliner, and fishnets as well as chains.

I also vote conservative. In fact, as of late the republicans are looking more and more liberal. I am, as one of my good friends put it, kind of the new face of the underground conservative movement. I've been banned from some forums for debating politics and not being liberal. When goths go liberal they tend to fly off the deep end. I guess that explains why I'm so extreme in the other direction

;-)

anyway, I digress.

Among the killer’s dislikes: Republicans.

Shocking!

Anyway, what a fag, right? I mean it's bad enough to be this lame when you're a high school kid, but this guys was 25!

Hint: You're a total a-hole if you belong to the site "vampirefreaks.com"

I wonder if Michael Moore will be traveling to Montreal to do "Bowling for Dawson"... Oh wait, that won't work because Bowling for Columbine was all about how violent the US was and how we should act like Canada. Doh! I harped on this a bit yesterday.

Anyway, not that he will, but if Moore did go there you can be sure he'd blame everyone but the man responsible. He'd certainly find someone paralyzed by the same type of bullets shot by the man and go make a scene anywhere that the bullets are sold. Then they'd go to the corporate offices of the manufacturers to shout them down and make a scene, as if it was anyone's fault but the shooter. Oh, he already did that you say? Then maybe he can spin some sketchy unsourced statistics. Done that too? Damn! Maybe he can splice together pieces of video out of order to mislead you about what people say. Dont that too!? Well, I'm out of ideas.

Well I think that parents are a big blame in letting their kids buy or download these games and then not reminding them that if they want to take out their furstrations on the game that's fine but do not take the game to the next level of people. I think I remember reading that when Columbine happened the parents of one if not both were not allowed in their rooms (the kids had a lock and they had the only key). That wouldn't have flown in my house as a kid and it won't fly when my kids get bigger. Even when I'm home to visit and my husband & I go out we're still expected to be home at a reasonable hour so my folks can get some sleep.
Yes, Angry Christian every group does have it's bad apples but it seems the libs can't get that through their heads. I saw a report last week where the baby boomers are using more drugs again but the young people are using less. I think that says something about who's raising the kids and who's raising the parents. Growing up I listened to Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Ozzy (when he used to be somewhat normal), AC/DC, etc. Even told one of the nuns where I went to high school the reason I was so sleepy in class one day is that I went to an Ozzy concert the night before and my folks told me that I couldn't go if I didn't go to school the night before. She said she didn't understand why we liked that music but as long as we weren't hurting anyone she didn't care what we listened to or who we spent our money on going to concernts. If the parents are involved and talk to their kids constantly about this and the kids understand these are just games, music what have you, there is not problem with it in my book. I hate to see people labled in one group because of a few rotten apples. As why someone would do a game about Columbine is beyond my comprehension though to be completely honest.

try and blame the games all you want. If the parents cared enough to pay attention the kid wouldn't have it.

I'm a huge first person shooter fan. I'm also what most people refer to as a "goth". Most of the gamer nerd underground community people I know (and I know thousands across the US, UK, and Europe) are non confrontational non violent types (but yes sadly very liberal for the most part) who wouldn't hurt a flea.

This characterization of gamers and goths as violent people gets on my nerves. Does that mean because rapes happen on college campuses hundreds of times a year that every college kid is a rapist, or even that most of them are?

no.

Let me make this clear: I do NOT oppose the way this story is being told. I do, however, have a strong dislike for the fact that those of us who have a taste for video games and dark clothing have nothing BUT the idiots in our numbers making headlines.

The underground communities do not support this sort of thing. They do not condone it, and frankly most of us involved hate it when something like this happens because then all of the sudden every parent, cop, and frat boy suddenly decides we're a threat, and in places like down town dallas we find our selves getting beat up or killed because we happen to wear dark clothes.

Most of us turn in people who threaten violence, and let me be the first to say this guy was worthless sack. Do not measure the rest of us by his actions much like you wouldn't measure the church for it's few priests and pastors who do terrible things.

Every group has it's bad apples. They need to be dealt with and reported. However, there's more to the underground than you'll hear from any mainstream website, and I would bet Jet (the guy who runs VF) took it down simply because the blog would be used to seriously hurt his site and his friends.

I'm also quite sure he will turn it over to authorities as he should. I would do the same, and yes I own more than a couple of sites that deal directly with the same community, music, and styles.

Anyway, I've said enough.

try and blame the games all you want. If the parents cared enough to pay attention the kid wouldn’t have it.

I’m a huge first person shooter fan. I’m also what most people refer to as a “goth”. Most of the gamer nerd underground community people I know (and I know thousands across the US, UK, and Europe) are non confrontational non violent types (but yes sadly very liberal for the most part) who wouldn’t hurt a flea.

This characterization of gamers and goths as violent people gets on my nerves. Does that mean because rapes happen on college campuses hundreds of times a year that every college kid is a rapist, or even that most of them are?

no.

I'm here, shooter. Here's something to mull. Kids are sponges, soaking up the culture in which they grow, whether its kids here playing violent video games or kids in Saudi Arabia being taught to hate Jews.
"6 Train up a child in the way he should go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Proverbs 22:6
Sadly it's also true if you say:
"Train up a child in the way he should NOT go,
Even when he is old he will not depart from it."

There's nothing wrong with violent video games. I play every violent FPS that comes onto the PC market. All scapegoating the video game industry does is weaken our national sense of personal and parental responsibility.

from ParentsTV.org- as of May, 2006-

The trend toward violent video games just gets sicker by the day. Contemplate this sad fact: the games been downloaded for free an estimated 10,000 times.

Is there really any wonder why there is so much hatred and unrest coursing thru America? Games about the worst school killings in history, Islamafascists practicing to kill us from next door, Americans rights for foriegn terrorists, protesting funerals of the soldiers that keep them free, and borders... that are becoming only a line on a map.
How far does free speech go? When do we stop and say 'hey, they wrote this over 200 years ago, maybe we should really look at this a little closer. What else is like yelling FIRE in a theater?
Is this the topic of the year? Or should we just wait some more?

I was appalled and disgusted to see that one of the vgames this guy had on his computer was "Extreme Columbine Massacre" or something like that. HOW could this get produced, marketed and sold anywhere let alone America. A GAME????
Who could do such a thing?
