Video: Rosie Sez ‘radical Christianity’ is just as ‘threatening’ as radical Islam

posted at 7:21 pm on September 13, 2006 by Ian

Rosie O’Donnell didn’t take long to break out of her shell and spew her liberal hate. On yesterday’s garrulous fem talk show “The View”, Meredith Viera’s replacement compared the “threat” of “radical” Christianity in America to radical Islam throughout the world. Yeah, because you know about those crazy Christians beheading terrorists and flying planes into buildings.

However, Rosie thinks the outcome of America depends on the battle against terror in New Orleans.

MKH writes:

You should see the look on Hasselbeck’s face [ed's note: She dared to challenge Rosie's anti-war, anti-Christian rant]. Bless her heart, I can’t believe she has to deal with them every day. To her credit, Joy Behar does concede that “well, Christians aren’t threatening to kill us. There is a difference.” Barbara says nothing. Nice.

Newsbusters’ Gaggle knows why Rosie is okay with radical Islam, for now.

Scott Whitlock fisks Rosie and co-host Joy Behar.

Ha, I told my dad about this and he said “butch bulldyke lezboz are as much a threat to this country as Islamic fascists.”

NTWR on September 13, 2006 at 7:33 PM

Let Rosie say whatever she wants. If Islam finds her it’s “hanging” time. What I find offensive is that she even opens her mouth at all. What kind of person speaks this way? A lunatic uberleftist. Modal myopia.

P.S. The good part? The rating will go down and then we can add ABC to the list of Air America, NYT, etc., etc.

sharinlite on September 13, 2006 at 7:35 PM

Lets see…. Christians would shame her….

fundamental Moslems would Stone her to death…

What part of that doesn’t she understand?

Romeo13 on September 13, 2006 at 7:48 PM

She is just so effing stupid, I don’t think I need to say anything about this (which is rare).

RightWinged on September 13, 2006 at 7:53 PM

Lets see how she feels after her “wife” gets stoned and her son gets taken away to the local madrassas where they learn nothing but the recitation of the Koran. Forget about them millions you made dear Rosie, you can no longer work, or even go out with an escort by a male relative. In your case that would be your son.

Rosie you live mainly in florida, how will that black polyester abaya feel on the hot humid days of August?

pabo on September 13, 2006 at 7:55 PM

Ummmm…just what exactly is “Radical Christianity” anyway? Besides hearing the term in the mouths of the far left I’ve never heard of it–and being a Christian you’d think I would have.

So are we talking Fred Phelps? James Dobson? Billy/Franklin Graham? Pope Benedict? Torquemada? Who?

Bob's Kid on September 13, 2006 at 8:03 PM

David Koresh? Jim Jones?

I’m fishin’ here, folks…help me out, willya?

Bob's Kid on September 13, 2006 at 8:06 PM

That Rosie might bitchslap her if Hasselback is careful. I couldn’t believe the dumbass audience applauding such a stupid statement.

d1carter on September 13, 2006 at 8:21 PM

Women like Rosie are why the Burka was invented.

speed647 on September 13, 2006 at 8:23 PM

Waving her lesbian flag high, she should waddle through a fundamental Christian service in the USA and then try the same in Pakistan. It will take those little wankers plenty of stones to bring Shamu down, but well worth it.

Hening on September 13, 2006 at 8:23 PM

This woman is perverted on so many levels.

What kind of audience does ABC have to go out and hand pick to get applause for such nonsense? Were those just your common everyday Democrats?

Perchant on September 13, 2006 at 8:29 PM

This should lead to a guest spot with Olberdunce.

JammieWearingFool on September 13, 2006 at 8:33 PM

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the shiznit. She’s from Laffey country too. Hubba hubba!

But please never show us Rosie again, ok?

Pablo on September 13, 2006 at 8:37 PM

‘radical Chritianity’ doesn’t stone rape victims, they don’t hold signs that say “behead those that insult Jesus”, they don’t force women not to work or not to go to school, they don’t believe they have the A-okay to kill the unbelievers, they don’t riot in the streets-killing their own, when insulting “art work” or cartoons of Jesus are published.
I agree with Rush she is “A glittering jewel of colossal ignorance”

Laura02420 on September 13, 2006 at 8:41 PM

Rosie O’Donnell has got to be one of the most ignorant, stupid, misguided, ugliest, stupid women I have ever seen. (Oops, I said stupid twice – but it just seemed to fit so well). Whatever she is promoting I make a point of not buying into.

She did not disappoint this time either. (The only reason I would even consider watching is the clip is it is on Hot Air). Christians do not make concerted effort to commit acts of terrorism or wage war to make Moslem into their faith – the Muslim does.

The question is who gave this stupid, ignorant woman a spot on National TV? Barbara Walters or who? Perhaps we should consider this when considering our viewing choices in the future – as well as not buying whatever they are promoting.

Ignorance is bliss…. and she is blissing up a storm!

sMack on September 13, 2006 at 8:55 PM

Can someone please ask this fat cow exactly HOW “radical Christianity” is just as “threatening” as radical Islam???

Please, idiot. Explain.

Rosetta on September 13, 2006 at 9:04 PM

Idiot. It’s because of Christianity and Capitalism and Western Civilization and America that you have the freedom to spew your toxic venom, and the warmongering babykillers in the U.S. Armed Forces will DIE to defend that freedom in your stead!

Tony737 on September 13, 2006 at 9:11 PM

Wish someone would ask Rosie how many heads have been lopped off in the name of Christianity lately? I still can’t believe those people in the audience were clapping. What’s wrong with these people? I believe this show originates in New York. Was Mohammed Atta a follower of Pat Robertson? Maybe I missed that somewhere along the way.

Catie96706 on September 13, 2006 at 9:15 PM

Bob's Kid on September 13, 2006 at 9:20 PM

What she’s not telling you is that the radical Christians have issued a death sentence against her – and it’s being carried out through force-feeding her a fatal amount of Funyuns. Looks like the plan is nearly through.

Squid Vicious on September 13, 2006 at 9:25 PM

I hope that Rosie will keep up the liberal rhetoric. When their message does get out is when they lose elections.

Godless liberals indeed.

Oh yeah…totally forgot about that speech he gave at West Point in the spring calling for death to everyone who refuses to submit to his radical version of Christianity.

Thanks for reminding me.

Bob's Kid on September 13, 2006 at 9:38 PM

Rosie’s mindless babble is more threatening than any religion.

rplat on September 13, 2006 at 9:38 PM

If she is called on the carpet for this, she’ll start munching.

She said “radical” Christian, so she will say that means the KKK or Nazis.

So then her critics will have to argue the fact that the KKK and the Nazis weren’t/aren’t really Christian and the whole thing ends with Christians on the defensive by needing to disassociate themselves with groups they have never been associated with.

I’ve argued with enough liberals that I can predict this stuff.

Perchant on September 13, 2006 at 9:48 PM

She’s only saying that because she’s a lesbian.

‘Nuff said.

Lady Heather on September 13, 2006 at 9:54 PM

Does any male watch the View?

My vision of a typical view audience member: pot-belly, turtle-neck, a large corsage, and support stockings.

A few times I have been forced to watch The View in waiting rooms. My first thought is always: so Barbara Walters is still alive?

Now I have to deal with Rosie too. I had never before considered that the anti-Christ might be a fat lady.

entagor on September 13, 2006 at 9:54 PM

entagor,

I’m not all up on my anti-Christ specifics but I believe the anti-Christ is supposed to be an attractive, smooth-talker with great leadership abilities.

I don’t know that a fat, unattractive, ill-informed lesbian fits the bill.

She may however be the anti-Heidi Klum.

Rosetta on September 13, 2006 at 10:03 PM

You mean she may be the anti-Klum?

entagor on September 13, 2006 at 10:12 PM

Starblazer on September 13, 2006 at 10:17 PM

Anti-Klum. That is correct.

Rosetta on September 13, 2006 at 10:19 PM

No need to call her such nasty names just because she is incredibly unintelligent.

I’ve been making this point a lot the last few days: leftists are largely unintelligent–their worldview demands it. They must, therefore, substitute illogical attacks against what they perceive as the “establishment” for intellectual heft. Of course any reasonable person hears what Rosie just said and immediately recognizes it as perhaps the least intelligent, most illogical response that one could possibly make to the statement that her guest had just made. But to leftists, this is to be praised…

A local talk show was talking today about “why do some people HATE Bush as much as they do?” This ties in with the correct answer to that question. The leftist wordview is one of global citizenship, diplomacy-as-the-answer-to-all, and moral relativism. When you have an adversary as violently resolute and downright evil–by any measure–the left must take all of the fear and anger that SHOULD be directed toward that enemy, and redirect it toward something that doesn’t threaten their entire worldview.

So, Bush becomes Hitler and the root of all evil, in their minds. In Rosie’s case, “radical Christianity” (which is something the average, rational person can’t even vaguely define in terms of perceived threats) becomes the threat rather than the radical Muslims who openly claim to want to kill her.

DaveS on September 13, 2006 at 10:27 PM

sorry DaveS, but we are all entitled to our opinions,no matter what they are, including the terrorist appeasers liberals

Huh? I’m the one who said lay off the ad hominem attacks. You were the one who said, simply: “Rosie O’Donnell needs to stfu

I agree completely that she has the right to spout off her ridiculously uninformed opinions. I also agree that so long as you have the consent of MM and AP, you have the right to call her things like: “butch bulldyke lezbo”… “shamu”… “fat cow”… “anti-Christ”… etc.

However, I, for one, think that such useless and childish attacks make everyone who posts here look bad, and only serves to give people reason to draw a moral equivilence between us and the lefties who routinely make such personal attacks.

DaveS on September 13, 2006 at 10:48 PM

Rosie O’Donnell, Ariana Huffington and John Murtha, all making a complete ass of themselves on the tube. Air America says buh-bye.

It’s been a good couple of days.

If this keeps up the RNC won’t have to spend nearly as much in the fall campaign. Let’s just say Rosie may turn out to be the RNC’s biggest cash cow.

Rosies best moment. Ambushing Tom Selleck about the second amendment and getting owned by him.
Other then that, she really isn’t worth listening to.
She is not an intelectual, or a good speaker, nor is she funny (which is why she is no longer running the comedy circuit).
She is an opinionated name, and thats all.She is also a bit of an attention whore, but then again most people on TV are.
Let her keep talking. Her own idiocy is her worst enemy.

Wyrd on September 13, 2006 at 11:26 PM

As for the audience clapping at Queen Rosie’s insightbul comparison – All Tv studios have either APPLAUSE signals over the audience or laugh/clap tracks. So the mindless sheelple can be directed to clap buy the liberals in the control room. Or thee liberals in the control room can just hit the applause button.
My favorite sound bite about Rosie – On the 1st season of the Dave Chappelle Show, episode 9. There was a skit called the Playa’ Haters Ball. A pic of Rosie comes up and Dave says in a heavy ghetto accent.. “Now that man I would hate to fight. She wears underwear with dick-holes in them.

I wasn’t name-calling. When I was a teen, I thought the book of Revelations was written by a psychotic. After ‘The Bible as Literature’ in college I decided Revelations was an angry historical lament, not prophecy. It is the current astounding attack on Christianity in this the most Christian nation that convinced me the book is prophetic. I am not attempting to slur anyone with the as Anti-Christ, I am watching to see who or what it is.

I never thought America would turn on a dime. I met a Phillipino missionary who told me they can’t believe in the Phillipines that the U.S. would turn from a nation that reveres religion, to a nation that considers religious speech offensive.

I still don’t understand Revelations, but I have seen things happen that should have been impossible.

As for her being fat, she is. She is bluntly honest, apparently, to say what she did about ‘radical Christianity’ which I assume includes people who believe in the book of Revelations. She is in truth Lesbian, fat, loud. Also, IMHO: rude in the real sense of not letting others speak.

Winston Churchill to Lady Astor: I may be drunk Miss but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.

Moral equivalence would be me saying the loud fat lesbians are as dangerous to America as radical Islam.

Realism might lead me to think that loud fat lesbians may be as dangerous to Christians’ right to freely practice their faith as radical Islam.

RE: Who are radical Christians?

Jim Wallis and the other Christians in his “Network of Spiritual Progressives”

Wallis was a member of the SDS which spawned the violent weathermen. He supported Marxist revolutionaries in Central American and disparged Vietnamese fleeing certain death under communist tryanny as motivated by greed and a desire to enjoy a consumer society in the west.

Of course that isn’t the sort of “radical Christian” Rosie has in mind. Wallis is Nancy Pelosi’s closest spiritual advisor (with the possible exception of Clinton pollster Stanley Greenberg who, as E.J. Dionne said, “found God” in the 2004 election returns)

We know some of the people who produced the last incarnation of GREASE on Broadway–this was early 90s I think, starring Rosie. Said Rosie was difficult to work with and spectacularly untalented.

That said, she is likely all the things you say save one: stupid. She is laughing all the way to the bank, and this outraged reaction feeds right into her. Why take the bait? Ignore her.

honora on September 14, 2006 at 9:44 AM

Yea, Honora and I agree on one thing – she’s definitely NOT stupid. She’s kind of like the nutroot version of Ann Coulter.

That was probably the most utterly obsurd statement I’ve heard come out of someone’s mouth lately. Yeah, can you imagine this headline: “radical Methodists and Presbyterians stone two women accused of homosexuality.” RIIIIIIIIIIGHT.

pullingmyhairout on September 14, 2006 at 9:54 AM

pullingmyhairout–radical and Presbyterian–two words you just don’t put together. I didn’t see any of this but my neighbor told me that she (R) stated that a good way to get rid of a baby’s diaper rash is to have a dog lick their butt. Ok, not stupid but perhaps crazy! YUCK!!!

my point is that all of their rhetoric (correct or not) sells books (or increases t.v. ratings). that was my comparison. I have stated this before that I agree with AC’s message, I just think her method of delivery is lousy. but it’s ‘smart’ in that the way she delivers it calls attention to her message and increases book sales. Rosie does the same thing except in a different media.

Rosie has a bunch of ‘street smarts’ and that she knows how to milk the system – just like Ann Coulter. I wasn’t comparing their education.

And don’t call me a jerk.

honora on September 14, 2006 at 1:59 PM

Sorry for the double post from the Vent comments, but Vents get archived too soon:

Rosie O’Donnell has public flickr account filled with all sorts of photos going back a few years. This one appears to be taken on the day she made her insightful “radical christians” statement, Sept 12th. It appears to be a camera-phone shot of The View audience, the one that cheered when she equated American Christians with wholesale mass murderers. I thought it interesting to actually see who they were, if in fact that is the audience that cheered.

Anyway, I’ve always wondered why anyone, anywhere, any time cared in any way about anything Rosie O’(verrated)donnell has to say about, well, anything at all. One of the mysteries of life I suppose. Like why no talents/overrated-low-raters like Bill Maher, Keith Olbermann, and Al Franken (to name a paltry few) still hang around and actually get the airtime… and are actually paid for it. Er, well, except Al Franken. He has a “cash flow problem”.

On a somewhat comical side note, internet betting sites are starting to put up odds, and are taking bets, on who will be fired first; Katie Couric or Rosie O’Donnell.

I’ll take Rosie O’Donnell to get canned first. Barbara Walters can be a real bitch when she’s upstaged, and I forsee Rosie doing A LOT of upstaging.

Free history lesson #1: Nazi’s were NOT Christians, they were atheists and they did NOT kill jews in the name of Christ. They killed in the name of hitler and the National Socialist Worker’s Party and for the aryan race.

#2: Christians who DID kill in the name of Christ (Torqamada) did so out of ignorance of what Jesus taught us. They did the opposite of what Jesus believes and they’re not true Christians.

#3: Muslims who murder in the name of islam ARE following the teachings of mohamed. The muslims who DON’T kill infidels are not TRUE muslims because they’re not doing what mohamed says allah tells them to do.

That’s about as simple as I know how to make it. This ain’t rocket science, people. Wake up libs. The muslims have a 1,300 year history of killing the weakest first (that’d be you).

Rosie’s “Radical Christianity” (RC) is just a sound bite. Is her attempt to equate Conservatives or the Administration with RC? She never defined the term for others so only she knows what she means– if she even knows. What credentials does she bring to the table other than being a woman of levity? It’s frightening to think that there are some in the country who would believe what she said simply because Rosie said so.

Classicalguy on September 14, 2006 at 4:58 PM

Yes Shackler..and aboriginal peoples used to kill and rape each other, as well as kill and eat Christian missionarys (but they deserved it because they killed people in the crusades)..yes, we’re all vile filthy creatures that have in one way or another acted horribly through the years. therefore, no one is allowed to criticize anyone because our ancestors sucked major a$$, therefore, let unjudged anarchy reign. So, Shackler, I would take it since you’re having to reach back 8 centurys to draw a comparison to make Rosie’s point, you don’t believe in forgiveness or redemption? Christians today are responsible for what they did during the inquisition? I guess you would also say the Romanians have no right to complain about radical muslims after what Vlad the Impaler did to the advance guard. So, if we’re all covered in blood, then we have no chance for redemption? Can we atone by killing ourselves? Or has so much blood been spilled by our ancestors that we would have to kill ourselves 1000 times? So, if no ones hands are clean, then we have no reason to behave, since we’re all damned anyway. If I’m a no good Christian, tainted by the crusades, then why should I tolerate my annoying neighbor? Instead of forgiving him for parking his Honda p.o.s in front of my driveway, I could just as easily run him over with it. After all, I’ve already got blood on my hands..shouldn’t throw stones right? Why don’t you find a better example..say, within the last century, or give the moral equivalence bit a rest.

This reminded me of one of my favorite caricatures on survival – a storch tries to eat a frog, who, while his head is in the beak of the storch, extends his loooong hind legs and squeezes the throat of the storch to a knot.

Kid, thanks for the links; enjoyed for sure. I can’t find that storch caricature in e-copy. Would have loved to link it because it’s much more effective when seen.

austinnelly, I’m Transylvanian and enjoyed particularly your example about Vlad Tepes, the Impaler :) Boy, he sure didn’t have to follow the Geneva Convention!

Take your pick, Entelechy. No one can ever accuse me of not being a good neighbor. ;)

Kid you always were great – you’ve been elevated to “the greatest”! I love this and can use it in my job too. THANK YOU,
